Should I reopen the happy place cafe?

I'm often awake in the night, today was a lie in for me, only properly awake since 4am.

In lockdown I opened, 'the happy place café where I would make virtual breakfasts and people would come to chat.

When it was last opened my French pastry chef Florence had married Fernando the cocktail waiter.

The kitten bees are inside because it is too old but the bumble cats are in the garden as usual.

SO should I reopen or was just something for lockdown?

Morning! The cafe seems very quiet although it is still early yet.
I'll take the beanbag in the corner with a blanket, are there still bagels on offer I fancy one with jam!!

Willowkins · 28/02/2023 01:35

I should really go to bed but the cat is sitting on my lap and I don't have the heart to make her get off. I've never had dim sum. What filling do you recommend?

BouleBaker · 28/02/2023 02:58

I haven't been down for a few days and seem to have missed some lovely breakfasts. Could I order a mint tea and something pastry based please. In fact, it's a bit quiet so I'll just pop the kettle on while I'm here.

Glad you loved Swan Lake @MinnieMountain . I saw BRB do it in Southampton a few weeks ago. It's such a lovely production. I've been nagging them to add more Black Sabbath dates too.

sashh · 28/02/2023 03:08

Morning.

Florence has over produced some sweet pastries, I think it was a reaction to me making bagels. So please help yourselves before the kittenbees give themselves diabetes.

@Willowkins how about sour plum? Then maybe a pork mini bao?

BouleBaker · 28/02/2023 03:11

I am very happy to help reduce the sweet pastry glut and save the kitten bees. Although mini pork bao does sound rather wonderful.

Beautiful spring flowers in the garden by the way.

MinnieMountain · 28/02/2023 04:42

I love sweet pastries. I’ll have mine in a big chair by the fire.

It was stunning @BouleBaker . I’ve seen it at Covent Garden too but it works just as well on a smaller stage. I liked the way the cygnets attacked the magician at the end.

sashh · 28/02/2023 04:59

It seems to be getting warmer, I'm not sure if I should let the kittenbees out for a few mins.

They might like to visit the flowers, although I'm not sure if they wouldn't get stuck in a daffodil. Maybe I'll keep them in for another couple of weeks.

Good morning all , @sashh let the kitten bees out for a bit , I am going to sit outside so I will keep a eye on the little furries .

Please can I have a strong coffee and a bacon buttie . If there is any dim sum left over can i have some packed up for my lunch please

sashh · 28/02/2023 06:01

OK I'll open the kittenbee door, but I'm keeping the one that got drunk in, I need to know I can trust them.

<Hands over coffee and butty>

I'll put the dim sum in a bamboo steamer, just add a desert spoons of water and microwave for 2 mins.

Morning all.

I've decorated with daffodils for St David's day.

Fernando has got some fancy syrups to put in the coffee, I like the hazelnut one.

Florence is attempting welsh cakes.

Changerazelea · 01/03/2023 01:04

Morning! Wide awake here ill have a cheese toastie and a hot chocolate. Has Fernando been working out? Whoar!

alienslove · 01/03/2023 01:37

The daffodils look so pretty.
I'll try a Welsh cake too please with a milkshake! I can rustle one up if it's busy in the kitchen.
Anyone else for a milkshake?

soleilblue · 01/03/2023 01:40

I like Welsh cakes ta. With a bit of jam

sashh · 01/03/2023 02:48

Jam on welsh cakes? OK

TerribleInsomniac · 01/03/2023 02:54

I’ve heard Fernando does a killer chocolate cocktail
i could do with one of those please.

You don’t mind my dog sniffing your kitten bees do you. He loves kitten bees

sashh · 01/03/2023 04:01

The dog is fine, but be careful if he tries to lick them.

Happy St David's Day. Are the Welsh cakes still warm? I'd love one or two or three or four with a cup of tea please.

MinnieMountain · 01/03/2023 06:44

Happy St David’s Day.

Welsh cakes for me too please. They freeze well btw in the unlikely event there are any left over.

Your dog is lovely @TerribleInsomniac .

sashh · 01/03/2023 08:09

Glad the welsh cakes are going down well.

Morning all.

Florence has got a new deep fryer so she is busy making churros and doughnuts.

OP posts:
alwaysoutdoors · 02/03/2023 02:21

Mmm churros, that sounds perfect! It feels very cosy in here today.

Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket · 02/03/2023 03:22

Are there any chocolate cocktails left from yesterday? I'd love one if there's any going spare.
This is such a lovely cafe. I think I'll curl up in an armchair with a book, if that's ok. Anyone got any recommendations?
The kitten bees are being very cute today.

stclair · 02/03/2023 04:07

I was going to ask for a cinnamon swirl if you had any in, but now you say you have churros……that will do nicely thank you. With a flat white if the coffee machine is in action pretty please.

@Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket I’ve just finished Lessons in Chemistry, a very good read. Funny, sad, a bit shocking, educational - all in one.

sashh · 02/03/2023 04:11

Chocolate cocktails are available but also a hot chocolate with a drop of brandy to dip churros in, take your pick.

OP posts:
MinnieMountain · 02/03/2023 06:09

Churros and hot chocolate for me please.

I’m going to sit outside to listen to the birds.
