did anyone else think he was a bit crass and slightly naive at times?

OP posts:
mrsshackleton · 19/01/2010 11:10

Well, yes, he married well initially though it's her dad's bad advice that's largely responsible for **ing the business

Would love to give more details but can't, laws of libel etc etc. [frustrated emoticon]

AitchTwoOhOneOh · 19/01/2010 11:11

oh really? i thought it was all daddy's investment... mind you, a lot of smart people came a cropper with investments recently.

the guardian did a hatchet job recently.

HerHonesty · 19/01/2010 11:11

oooohhh you see what happens when you step away from MN even for half an hour.....

did anyone listen to him on chris moyles on R1. it was v amusing, Cm was totally taking the piss and GR was getting very wound up.

now. tana. why does she stay with him. he's such a twat. and given his nappy wearing whipping habit...

OP posts:
mrsshackleton · 19/01/2010 11:15

Oh, link please aitch!

Tana stays with him because they have four children and a nice life. She is the poster girl for the stand-by-your-man grin in photoshoots type that Tory wifes once specialised in

AitchTwoOhOneOh · 19/01/2010 11:17

i've been trying but for some reason my comptuter will reload mn but not anything else (does anyone else's do that?) i'm sure if you google guardian ramsey and matthew you'll get it, it was just a restaurant review, and not even on a ramsey place, but it wildly put the boot in.

how do women like that keep up the facade?

and now she's got to put up with the house smelling of curry too. and lets face no amount of smelly candles gets rid of it. (sorry trying to lighten the thread...) no pun intended.

lovemynano · 19/01/2010 11:53

I can't watch him without imagining him sat at the hairdressers with foils in his hair and bleach dripping down his neck. Oh and reason number two is his constant irritating use of the word "restrunt".

As for wifey, let's be honest - she's carved out a nice little d-list celeb niche for herself on the back of his being a chef. Why else would anyone buy a recipe book written by a woman whose own HUSBAND is on record saying she isn't allowed in his expensive kitchen at home because all she ever does is nuke ready meals?

sincitylover · 19/01/2010 13:53

It did make me and ds1 want an Indian - I enjoyed it from the foodie aspect but not him.

Saw him once in the West End - he has a curious skin looks all crumpled and powdery.

Can't abide the Tana types either ie stand by your man for a nice life

HerHonesty · 19/01/2010 15:08

that curious skin is unfortunately chronic acne scaring. i do feel slightly sorry for him in this regard and it does explain some of his behaviours i suppose.

I was very disappointed in this programme too. GR was awful.
I was especially shocked when he went into that village and said he thought the lovely woman next to him was fucking dead!

And I used to really like too.

Prat.

Bobbybee · 19/01/2010 19:18

like him too.

FredAboutAFred · 19/01/2010 19:19

tel of prog

30andLurking · 19/01/2010 19:19

Does sort of make you wonder if they showed comments like that, what on earth did they have to edit out?!?

AitchTwoOhOneOh · 19/01/2010 19:26

preeeeeeeeeeeecisely what i thought.

saggyhairyarse · 19/01/2010 21:05

What a cock!

Was at him shouting at the kitchen staff at the end and at him expecting modern kitchen equipment.

He came across as an atypical racist ignorant uneducated prick.

PeggysEvilTwin · 20/01/2010 17:43

Disrespectful. A disgrace.(do I sound like a daily mail reader, or what?) I agree with the poster who says he looked completely out of his depth.

I decided to watch because I've travelled in some of the places he goes to and love to cook, not because I particularly like him, in fact I gave up watching any of his things because of the swearing, and believe me, I am by no means a prude, but this latest effort has made me dislike him all the more!

luckyblackcat · 20/01/2010 17:49

I much preferred a series (called Bazar?)done by Barry Vera(a little known chef) that was him travelling around in a similar fashion - no swearing or inappropriate comments on that!

luckyblackcat · 20/01/2010 17:57

Ohh I just looked, he did two series - Feast India and Bazaar

And what a polite young man he is.

AitchTwoOhOneOh · 20/01/2010 20:11

is the third ep on tonight? is it on now, actually? i can't find the remote so our tv is off. [lazy]

Bobbybee · 20/01/2010 21:03

I think its on now.
SOme of it is a bit bizarre. That loon rubbing chillis into her eys wtf??!

saadia · 20/01/2010 22:16

I'm quite enjoying this prog

CiderIUpAndSetIFree · 20/01/2010 22:25

God he's just embarrassing isn't he

Bobbybee · 20/01/2010 22:31

He was really rude in the Ashram.
I was in disbelief.

It is an interesting programme though.

pointysaysrelax · 20/01/2010 22:47

I can't watch him any more, not that I've ever liked him. The constant swearing in situations where it is blatantly obvious you shouldn't swear, is almost embarrassing.

He must seem like such a prize wazzock to everyone he meets in India
