then you know now I know it's just a show but he's a two faced git. I'll never watch X factor again. I knew it was rigged but that was so hypocritical beyond belief.

OP posts:
GypsyMoth · 08/11/2009 22:49

they are painfull!!

GetOrfMoiLand · 08/11/2009 22:51

I am delighted that Twit and Twat are still in. I laughed my socks off last night when they were jumping about in that ghostbusters car.

Lucie imo very boring. She had absolutely nothing interesting about her at all. Her voice wasn't that amazing, actually, she sounded shrill and nasal quite a lot of the time.

Of course Simon C made the right decision. Those two keep the show in the papers. Not kicking them out has generated x amount of column inches, far more so that if he had kept Lucie in. I think it is very naive to think that he wouldn't manipulate the results in order to determine that whoever wins is someone that he would choose.

X Factor is such cynical crap, but I am addicted as per usual

comewhinewithme · 08/11/2009 22:51

I like how they think skipping is dancing .

Astrid28 · 08/11/2009 22:51

I think it's a bit of a joke that he didn't stand by what he's said throughout the series and vote John & Edward out. I quite like them but always assumed that once in the bottom two they'd be gone.

I felt so sorry for Lucie, and John & Edward actually - they looked so guilty.

comewhinewithme · 08/11/2009 22:55

They have nothing to be guilty about though.

heheheman · 08/11/2009 22:59

He's got something though.

I dunno....

muggglewump · 08/11/2009 23:03

Simon gave the public what they wanted.
It is manipulated, but they can't mess with the vote.

Megglevache · 08/11/2009 23:04

I love Twatty and banjo

of course it's all contrived and fixed (to a degree)
Once you twig then it's all rather good fun seeing people get their knickers in a fix over nothing.

Simon's just doing a job, very well I might add.

Remotew · 08/11/2009 23:07

It's getting so that the judges aren't judges anymore, the public are. Not sure there is anything wrong with that though.

muggglewump · 08/11/2009 23:07

All of this outrage is giving him exactly what he wants. It's all over the net and will be talked about on TV/Radio and be in the papers tomorrow.

Loads of people are saying they won't watch any mre, but I find that unlikely. If they get so worked up about it, I can't see them switching off.

This is why Simon is a very rich and successful man.

Cousel · 08/11/2009 23:07

i second twit and twat, that ghostbusters thing was just too funny, also, jedward are also on last or second to last every saturday night, so that you have to watch the whole show before you get to the only funny bit worth watching. Cowell know keeping them in is more PR and more cash on the phone votes.

wannaBe · 08/11/2009 23:09

well quite.

It's fixed from the very first auditions, where people who can actually sing are not put through in favour of people who are absolutely awful who will make for good entertainment. Out of 200000 applicants we get to see... maybe a hundred? and given the majority of those are crap it has to follow that they have a format as to what they need for the show, and that you can actually be put through/rejected before you even open your mouth to sing.

If people don't want talentless acts in the competition and are going to stop watching because a presumed talentless act is still in it, then they shouldn't be watching at all, because talentless acts are being put through from the beginning, and acts with talent are being rejected...

People getting genuinely angry and setting up facebook hate groups and signing petitions etc really ought to get out more.

Remotew · 08/11/2009 23:13

It's just a laugh really isn't it? Cannot believe people get so worked up about it. However, it's giving everyone something to talk about.

Didn't see the show last night but saw bits of Jedwards Ghostbusters. It was cringeworthy. I had to hide my eyes tonight at Rock DJ but it wasn't so bad.

The only reason I watched this year was because I saw Joe in the auditions singing Luther Vandross. I loved him and wanted to see how he got on. Cheryl is giving him such crap songs though. Want to see him sing 'So amazing'. I'm well and truly gripped and sucked in this year now.

cece · 08/11/2009 23:13

WannaBe I couldn't agree more

CiderIUpAndSetIFree · 09/11/2009 10:34

Of course the whole thing about Simon hating J&E and 'leaving the country' was all part of the PR.

Who produces the show? Who approves the press releases about how disastrous it would be if they did well? He does.

It has been obvious from very early on that J&E might attract interest and votes from people who wouldn't dream of lifting the phone for the likes of the yawnworthy Leona and Alexandra production line contestants.

Tryingtobeorganisedthisyear · 09/11/2009 10:41

Least popular goes - quite simple really

donnie · 09/11/2009 10:51

Lucie was awful last night though - very very dull and also she sang flat for most of the song. John and Edward were far more interesting and fun to watch and if I had voted - which I never do ! - I would have voted for them simply because watching Lucie was like watching paint dry, except a little less interesting. At least Jedward are capable of moving their limbs.

Also the demographics of this are key: my dds - 8 and near,y 5 - love Jedward. I suspect lots of other little girls love them too, as well as the entire population of Ireland of course.

Although of course in the grand scheme of things who gives a shit anyway - I mean, really?

mo3g · 09/11/2009 10:55

wannaBe - exactly what i was thinking well said.

AitchTwoToTangOh · 09/11/2009 11:00

all he's doing is leaving it up to the public to decide, surely? and as the creator and owner of the show he knows that lucie's not going to win so he's personally better off with jedward and a manufactured outrage like this keeping him in the papers. i don't get the upset, surely people have noticed that what happens around the fringes of the competition has nothing to do with talent?

ajandjjmum · 09/11/2009 11:10

It's just a joke now - SC made sure that X Factor lost any pretence of credibility - certainly not looking for a singer.

I've lost interest totally now (although I'm wasting time on this thread ).

wannaBe · 09/11/2009 11:19

see I disagree with that.

There's only a couple more shows where the judges get to decide. After that it does come down to the public vote. So if the public want J&E to win then why does it matter what Simon Cowell wants or whether we are alledgedly looking for a singer?

If they win then it will be because the public want them to win.

LoveBeingAMummy · 09/11/2009 11:24

I think its the fact that he made it out ot be all about letting the public decide, he knew who was going to be left and didn't want to reduce the money he is going to make from the boys, before tye are tossed aside for th enext ones in the next series.

wannaBe · 09/11/2009 11:35

but that's assuming that he does know who will go. And we don't know for certain that he knows do we?

Tryingtobeorganisedthisyear · 09/11/2009 11:52

Apparantly the only find out the voting numbers for each week at the end of the series.

Someones voting for John and Edward or they would have gone,so i don't get the mass uproar. Someone who had the least amount of votes went - surely that's completely fair and the whole point of the competiton

Simon just milked the hype and it made great tv..

All these people complaining....and saying its all publicity and moneymaking -they surely can't be that stupid...that's what the programs always been about! And great fun at the same time

AortaBeTidying · 09/11/2009 11:56

They are all tied into a contract with Simon Cowells company until the end of the tour so he will make money from ALL of them until then anyway. They are also gagged contractually until (i think) i year after the contract finishes (think Steve Brookstein and his moaning ages afterwards and that woman one..with reddish wavy hair who's dad applied for her)

At the very first auditions (ie the ones that you DON'T see, before the celebrity judges) you get to see just what kind of programme they are going for that year. This years auditions saw an enormously overweight man get thru to the judges without even singing.

Also, Sony BMG were saying yes to a lot of ppl who were then, on second auditions turned down by x factor producers.
