I thought it was a really disappointing finish to 5 hours of build up - and what about the vaseline?!!

FreeJulietteMiller · 09/10/2009 22:30

BED!! I have letters to write to my MP demanding he take her case up at the next PMQ's

TheOozingPusOfSeptimusSquelch · 09/10/2009 22:31

Dear God, I've only just stopped weeping. Gripping, heart rending stuff, and I hope they get every BAFTA going.

I bloody KNEW it about the nightie being on the right way, that's been buggin me all week. Had anyone rumbled that she'd intended to kill herself but snapped at the last minute? That left me - hadn't occured to me at all.

fabhead · 09/10/2009 22:31

some women have though haven't they? killed abusive husbands and got suspended sentences?

simplesusan · 09/10/2009 22:32

But it was a very realistic ending Stellybelly. Women who kill abusive husbands are apparently still put in prison.

OldieButGoldie · 09/10/2009 22:32

Watched the programme every night and enjoyed it, but really, what a load of tosh.

So many factual errors and the kick in the teeth was a tiny baby being taken from it's mother.

Right, what's on the other channels?

simplesusan · 09/10/2009 22:33

Oh wasn't aware of that fabhead, awful predicament to be in.

Mollymom · 09/10/2009 22:34

Why would the baby 'have' to be adopted? There is a perfectly servicable father FGS (well- in this imaginary case anyway).Grrrrr

I want a part 6-what happenend next

fabhead · 09/10/2009 22:34

i'm sure I remember cases - but may not have been in uk

PutDown · 09/10/2009 22:34

On the other channels...vaseline advertisements

fabhead · 09/10/2009 22:36

yes surely he would not agree to his child being adopted - his wife would probably leave him anyway so he could keep the two girls while she was in prison to make amends for taking advantage of her or whatever - yes, lets pretend that IS what happens

HeadlessLadyH · 09/10/2009 22:36

Loved the solicitor but my god, she was brave. Doing all that without instructions. Never ask a question you don't know the answer to, that the golden rule in advocacy.

Off to kiss my baby goodnight

MaggieBehave · 09/10/2009 22:37

yeah if that guy the doc was truly sorry for taking advantage of juliet then he could look after her (their) baby until she got out of prison and if it meant the end of his marriage then so be it. (imo) harrrumpf.

ByThePowerOfGreyskull · 09/10/2009 22:37

would the people adopting the baby know about the circumstances by which the baby was removed?

OP posts:
simplesusan · 09/10/2009 22:38

Well I do think it was more realistic than the usual choice of either:
Vampire crap
Drama about being Lost somewhere exotic/stranded with unbelievably beautiful people who are all so incredibly fit you cannot believe your luck. All of whom have the ability to "see into the future" or fight and cast of bullets/knives etc etc.
Further American idealism.

TwoManyFallsAndYouGetABadScore · 09/10/2009 22:38

yes, I am off to bed too, safe in the knowledge that in my world at least, she appealed and got to keep her baby.

night night.

MaggieBehave · 09/10/2009 22:40

maybe the doctor gets a conscience and comes forward to mind her??

MaggieBehave · 09/10/2009 22:40

i will have to imagine that ending ...

SussexVille · 09/10/2009 22:50

I've LOVED this thread! Even more than the programme. Thanks to you all!

GoppingOtter · 09/10/2009 22:52

i was thinking what fun for ella and her best friend to have a shared sister

pofacedandproud · 09/10/2009 22:55

She's a lovely actress, that Maxine. Very well, directed, I thought the writing let it down.

Melfish · 09/10/2009 22:56

Being released on licence doesn't automatically mean you are a life sentence prisoner. If you get a sentence over 18 months (I think) you get released part way through your sentence on licence, and have to abide by licence conditions. if you breach those you may return to prison straight away to complete the rest of your sentence. When you get given a sentence they usually take time on remand into consideration and subtract it from the total time to be served. The prison will also work out various dates when you can be considered for parole etc. I'm sure a baby in this case wouldn't be put up for adoption as the mother would be released in a year or so. Like the rest of you all you could not helped be moved by her anguish at the end.

jacyjwc · 09/10/2009 22:58

Think that the friend got a bit fed up with her after months of shouting 'daddy' in her sleep for months on end!

jacyjwc · 09/10/2009 23:02

Yes, in an ideal world (and if this was real!) the doc will look after the baby and Ella (after his wife has left him, or forgiven him and Juliet and accepted the baby as a step-child). Meanwhile, she will appeal her sentence and be reunited with baby and Ella a couple of weeks later.

Think she should re-think the idea to call her baby Jo, esp as the murdered husband is not the dad.
