Big brother my arse. When is channel 4 going to get its head out its proverbial and use its money to make something decent to watch? When you say? When those who watch the likes of Big Brother and other "reality" tv shows, stop watching them. They are cheap to make, appeal to the lowest common denominator of intelligence and also to many of our voyeuristic tendencies, in my opinion.

I would rather watch heartbeat than big brother and that is saying something. Fortunately i dont watch much tv, but i know plenty who are tuning in to this mindless drivel tonight and it makes my heart ache that they will be wasting so many weeks getting excited over NOTHING. The majority of tv is crap, but this show is top of the crap heap. Dosent say much for those who watch it either.

Where TO?

Lonelymum · 27/05/2005 22:32

The Lake District. Bet it rains!

Newbarnsleygirl · 27/05/2005 22:33

Have a good time LM.

dropinthe · 27/05/2005 22:33

Love it there! Glenridding for me everytime!

foxinsocks · 27/05/2005 22:34

Heartbeat for me is like test cricket. Bound to send me faaaaaaast asleep.

beansprout · 27/05/2005 22:34

We'll never know as she (?) has obviously gone to go and do something very, very intelligent and highbrow.

So.... (whisper) - Roberto to win and I am now in my 5th year of fancying Dermot. I'm right thick me.

Lonelymum · 27/05/2005 22:34

Yeah love it too. Would have to: apart from Cornwall, it was practically the only place I went to as a child. Love it all.

foxinsocks · 27/05/2005 22:35

if it rains, it probably makes the waterfalls look better (trying to be optimistic for you!)

QueenEagle · 27/05/2005 22:35

Not sure what sort of mood I'm in, so not sure how to respond.....

Scrap cos it's Friday mode - You talking to ME Sophable? Yeah, well come 'ere and say that....if you think yer 'ard enough.

Eyes rolling at all this mode - I don't need to tune into Mn to listen to kids fighting - I've got 5 at home thank you very much.

Lonelymum · 27/05/2005 22:36

Born and Bred is back next week. Is that better or worse than Heartbeat?

Heathcliffscathy · 27/05/2005 22:36

kemal.......

Lonelymum · 27/05/2005 22:37

The only trouble with it raining in the LD is that dh will want to stay in and watch TV but I will insist on dragging everyone up a mountain in the pouring rain because I am really tough!

dropinthe · 27/05/2005 22:38

KEMAL FOR KING!Kemal for king! And lets get a life....

teeavee · 27/05/2005 22:38

i know someone who made a video and everything, and applied to take part in BB 3...she's an awful character, it has to be said

Lonelymum · 27/05/2005 22:38

Kemal is a prat - can't stand that sort of man. Roberto wa rather nice though.

dropinthe · 27/05/2005 22:39

Are you camping LM?

foxinsocks · 27/05/2005 22:39

it's very important to do things like climb mountains, make sandcastles in the rain. It's what makes us BRITISH.

Have fond memories and photos of us on holiday in Cornwall as kids in August in full rain gear building sandcastles and trying to look cheerful.

Lonelymum · 27/05/2005 22:40

No, staying in my parents holiday cottage!

teeavee · 27/05/2005 22:40

sorry, feel stroyngly that there is no such thing as british - english, welsh, scottish, cornish ok - but britain is an abstract construct to me

dropinthe · 27/05/2005 22:40

Most of my holidays were camping in the Lakes-I used to think it was magical!

Lonelymum · 27/05/2005 22:41

Oh yes Foxinsocks, we did that as kids too. We have endless photos of us in full wet weather gear eating sandwiches on the beach or half way up a mountain. Now I inflict it on my own children.

foxinsocks · 27/05/2005 22:41

Ha! Knew as soon as I posted that I should have changed it for some more culturally acceptable word!
