Expat - People (the gossip experts! ) are presenting Jon's indiscretion as bad judgement (and lying about it), but not an affair. Who knows....

Kate is on the cover of the most recent People looking very serious and talking about the 'big' decision.

I learned that Kate was (supposedly) brought up in a trailer park, so is very enamoured with the fab new trappings that come with fame and fortune and loathe to give them up.

She's definitely gotten blonder, Early .

well the rumour mill is also saying that kate is having an affair with her body guard, and he is seeming very comfortable in his posistion, wearing flip flops and going topless blah blah blah

I was watching this when the sextuplets were about 2 1/2 to 3 and Jon was still working so I think he has only quit his job in the last year.

Kate mentioned on one of the shows that they did IUI not IVF and I think it was due to PCOS.

I used to enjoy watching it but dh has always hated it.

expat - you're right. There was a tabloid photo of Kate next to a photo of Posh when she had her short platinum hair. Styles were amazingly similar.

Both Jon and Kate have changed significantly physically since the show began. She had a tummy tuck (courtesy of a viewer's dh who is a plastic surgeon), he's had a hair transplant, and both have had their teeth whitened (didn't see it, but eveidently was featured on an episode!). Also hearing she's had a boob job.

I know far too much about this.....this is what happens when you're a single Mum and there's not much on telly at night!

Hi jabberwocky! Hope you're well. I think if I had a dh/dp, I wouldn't know nearly as much about this family as I do!! Can't imagine a dh/dp who would endorse watching this show regularly!

Poor Octomom. Her attempts to copy them haven't gone so well.

octomum, has been in the news, she is suspected of child abuse or something along those lines maybe it was neglect, one of her children has autism i believe and the school became suspious about certain bruise

Not sure about the boob job, just have heard speculation. And she does look pretty amazing in a bikini based on photos taken last month.

I'm surprised Octomom hadn't been investigated for something like that before, apparently she was living in an utter tip with those poor kids.

She/they must have significant behind-the-scenes regular help with those children. Can't imagine how you'd keep up with even the laundry and meal preparation for a family that size!

Those children are just gorgeous though. Kate dresses them really well considering she has zero style herself. Did you see that her brother and his wife (red haired Jodi)have now been interviewed saying that they think the children are being exploited? I love fly on the wall stuff like this although hate Big Brother. I am obviously a voyeur in some way. Do you find that friend Beth a bit sinister?

Jon was fired from his first job for being rubbish at it;
he was boasting at work they were going to be rich (because of the sextuplets);
the producers didn't approach them - they sent letters to the networks asking for a show; child labour laws do not apply in Pensilvanya; The clothes are gifts/product placement from Gap and Gymboree;
They need lots of help/nannies because they spend half the time travelling across the USA (but they're doing it for the kids ...

I think it's the blatant lying and lack of consideration for their children that pisses me and so many others off.

Pennsylvania does indeed have child labor laws. They are investigating b/c Kate's brother and SIL made a complaint. Could be just sour grapes on the part of the relatives though

i think kates brother and sil weren't paid, then they had an arguement over it and then they complained, so jabberwocky could be right maybe just a case of sour grapes

I thought TLC offered to pay them because they were appearing on the show so much (ie babysitting during their book tours/church tours/cosmetic surgeries/etc without resorting to screaming and belittling them 24/7).
Kate went mental because "no one else should make money out of their kids".
Jodi's sister then created a blog criticising J&K but Jodi eventually asked her to stop it. IIRC they only spoke out after the "affair" stuff surfaced.

The kids are not protected in the same way they would be in California/NY though are they? Like limits on how long/often they can be filmed, having a SW to protect their rights on set etc... So I read anyway (don't quote me on it!)

Yes he did. They made a big deal out of it in the show about Jon being able to work from home, choosing his own hours etc...

I'm not sure but am guessing it was the disagreements about Kate and Beth's book about the kids that turned that relationship sour.

Something along the lines of Beth and Kate writing the book (ie Beth did it all lol) and then Jon being credited as an author too. Beth was then pushed aside and Kate took all the credit (surprise, surprise!). Beth refused to answer questions about this but then finally said that they (Jon and Kate) lived it, but she wrote it.

I think their relationship was a bit odd because Beth felt sorry for Kate (she volunteered to feed the sextuplets when they were born) and Kate felt jealous of her lifestyle and money. J&K made a big deal of Beth and her husband being really close friends and then after the book stuff they practically disappeared!!!!
