what was it she garrotted him with? a strip of metal?

edam · 02/12/2008 11:13

why do you want to know, Dinny, are you off to the DIY store to see if you can pick up something similar? Only if you are, I've got a list...

hippipotami · 02/12/2008 11:13

That hissing thing was freaky, and so far removed from teh gentle Connie we had seen throughout the series...

Sob about Ben though, he was lovely.

RA does not really do it for me. Too dark, intense and angular.

dinny · 02/12/2008 11:17

Thought the last couple of episodes have got back to their best. Quite like Lucas but really miss Adam. Funnily though, I hoped Tom could come back and save Harry (on the basis that their relationship had always seemed the closest and Harry would really have trusted him)but that would have been far too ridiculous
All Rupert PJ fans should watch out for him in 'The 39 Steps' at Christmas.

NoPresentsInVictorianSqualor · 02/12/2008 11:26

well dinny, in terms of legality, I suppose if you sign up to be in MI5 it's all par for the course. However, if you want to interrogate someone please find another method

dinny · 02/12/2008 11:31

thought it was v well done, the acid scene

DH was soooo smug last night as he had correctly identified the mole weeks ago - I think even before the story line really started he was saying that there was something not quite right about her ... I wasn't sure because she's only been in it for a couple of serise.

Really sorry to see both of the deaths this serise.

I was a bit about the convo between Harry and the home sec at the end ... the HS asked Harry what would have happened to the people on his fake list and Harry said "The FSB will have killed them by now." Was he being genuine? Who were the people on his list??

UnquietDad · 02/12/2008 11:47

I wonder if they knew Connie was going to be a mole when they brought her in last year?

NoPresentsInVictorianSqualor · 02/12/2008 12:07

Maybe they were baddies and it saved harry and the home sec from having to deal with it.

MarsLady · 02/12/2008 12:14

excellent series!

AndATigerschickInAPearTree · 02/12/2008 12:22

I don't know UQD but she, the actress, may have been on a short-term contract ... like the guy playing Ben.

VictorianSqualor - I guess so, it's certainly the best answer I can think of ... I don't like thinking of Harry as cold blooded. (Yes, I know that Harry is a fictional character but you know what I mean )

NoPresentsInVictorianSqualor · 02/12/2008 12:45

Well, the way Harry sees it the FSB are the baddies, yes? So that would mean he would be more concerned about protecting the FSB people that were named in sugarhorse as it would be more beneficial for national security.

ShrinkingViolet · 02/12/2008 13:10

DD1 went to bed last night wailing "but Connie, she was nice, and now she's horrible... and Ben, he was nice and now he's dead...." and started again when she got up this morning. She doesn't normally over-identify with TV programmes .

finknottle · 02/12/2008 14:30

Missed that about the list.

Harry has lost Adam, been suspected of being a mole, interrogated with all those evil chemicals, faced the loss of the Sugarhorse assets, the knowledge that he'd been betrayed and then learnt that Ben had been murdered by Connie.
I thought him rather matter of fact about the FSB people but looking at it from his point of view, he has to devote all his energies into his own country & people. He did seem rather shell-shocked at the end.

Connie made a great and unexpected baddy. I like that about Spooks.

I also wonder how many other networks she blew or operations she's sabotaged. (Shades of Bill Haydon...)

Apollinare · 02/12/2008 17:42

This could be very wishful thinking but I still think Adam is going to reappear - he is never, ever mentioned - and is probably in deep cover somewhere because everybody thinks he is dead.

I really liked Connie's growly hissy thing and shall do this in the supermarket at every opportunity ... 'What do you mean, no
packers!' hisssssssss.

Pixel · 02/12/2008 21:54

MI5 were advertising a job recently that was right up dh's street (he's looking for computer job) but I couldn't persuade him to apply for it, more's the pity. I imagined him being a bit like Malcolm doing all the clever technical stuff (and maybe bringing the occasional handsome spy colleague home for dinner)

jujumaman · 03/12/2008 16:34

Don't blame Harry for not caring about the FSB lot, he had to save the world - they were small fry. He was prepared to die himself (alone and with no knighthood or pension!) to keep the list secret.

Love, love, loved it - though poor Ben, he'd only just arrived and hadn't even had a storyline all to himself. Wish it had been Jo who is a big girl's blouse in comparison with the rest.

Do you think they get decent holiday packages? Hope so

AndATigerschickInAPearTree · 03/12/2008 17:55

I wonder if they will bring anyone new in next week or if they'll wait until next serise.
Tho, I suppose it's virtually back to the original numbers, just without Colin.
The last five people to have joined 'the team' have either been part of the service previously (Lucas and Connie) or recurited after being linked to a case (Ros, Jo and Ben) I wonder if they'll do the same next time.

thefortbuilder · 03/12/2008 18:28

they're looking for lots of people on the site.

edam · 04/12/2008 10:15

I'd really love them to bring Tom back. And Keeley Hawes, come to that. Matthew McF has such soulful eyes...

AndATigerschickInAPearTree · 04/12/2008 14:11

The waythey got rid of Keeley Hawse was really
I'd love for her to come back ... but she's busy flirting with Philip Glennister in 1982

wasabipeanut · 04/12/2008 14:17

I still mourn the loss of the lovely Adam but Lucas North is rather dishy.

This has been an excellent series though - I didn't like the last one it was just too grim and I didn't like the continual plotline. This series has had elements of continuing plot but still had a self contained story in each one.

Fab.

I also identified Connie as the mole several weeks ago
