Really I thought it always was

I can understand them wanting their money back........but I don't think I would have got worked up about it tbh

carrotsandpeasifyouplease · 22/11/2008 20:32

just watching the rest on sky+ and saw.... Vincent looking at Rachael like he was besotted then her looking at him looking at her and making a funny face as if to say "not here" and looking away, i swear to god!

lunamoon2 · 22/11/2008 22:08

I thought Rachel was fab.
Loved Christine's dress.
Love jodie but don't think she is as good as the others.
I agree about Tom's face I wish someone would tell him to stop pulling faces, he looks so much better when he doesn't.
Kristina was FANTASTIC and was it me or did John actually improve this week.
Hope Brian is dancing tomorrow!!!!!

fionaann · 22/11/2008 23:08

Liked Rachel's dance but thought it was a bit slow - maybe that's what foxtrot is.

Austin was overmarked - but remarkable how quick his feet are. What was Erin wearing??

As has been said by so many, Tom's facial expressions are just dreadful - what sort of an am-dram actor is he?

Loved Jodie but thought she was overmarked.

Christine looked very ragdollish and again got higher marks than she should have.

Lisa and Brendan - fine but again overmarked. What was going on with her fringe?

Really annoying to hear Len say how they were sorry to hear John go - so different to the last couple of weeks when they were berating him - and us - for his continued presence. And what's with his constant attacks on Craig, the only judge to give accurate marks as far as I can see - and to give pointers on what they can work on. Craig also seems to be the only judge not to interrupt the others.

Tigerschick · 23/11/2008 08:11

I haven't watched the show from last night yet but just wanted to say ...

I don't think anyone has contradicted themselves over the JS affair ... except maybe JS himself.
James Jordan, the Judges, everyone who wasn't happy about JS still being there were all saying that it was the public voting that was wrong; not JS himself.
Now that he's gone they are all saying that it is JS who is wrong and that the public have been in some way 'cheated'.

There is a difference ... it may be subtle but it is there.

MaryAnnSingleton · 23/11/2008 08:47

I had a tear or two in my eye after John and Kristina's last dance - Kristina is so fab - put her with Brian and it's a fantastic combination

ruty · 23/11/2008 10:05

of course they were contradicting themselves, especially der-brain James. He didn't like how the public were voting and expected to be able to tell the public how to vote. It backfired on him and then he tried to cover his tracks, showing how not especially bright he is.

Tom looks like Les Dawson when he pulls that face.

Vincent wonderful as ever. Rachel improving really well.

fionaann · 23/11/2008 10:31

Of course the judges are contradicting themselves - how can they say for weeks that they want John gone and then say they are sorry he has left? Len, speaking on their behalf, didn't say that he regretted the way John had left - just that he had gone. And what will happen when Christine is most likely kept on at the expense of a better dancer? Will she be made to feel awful that she is still there? Or is it okay because she's young, attractive and hasn't attracted the same media attention as John?

Clayhead · 23/11/2008 10:50

I agree with Tigerschick.

There is a difference in saying the public are wrong to keep him in and saying you want someone gone.

ruty · 23/11/2008 10:58

well if you say something like that repeatedly you can't expect him to stay. The judges were extremely nasty about him repeatedly and ofcourse John could take it, but Kristina was finding it harder and harder, and what James and the judges could not see was it was the connection between Kristina and John when they danced that made it such a joy - I find Lisa and Brendan as dull as ditchwater to watch as there is no real connection. Therefore the judges and James were being patronising to the viewers by telling them how to vote, and it was getting nastier and I can see why John called it a day.

HappyMummyOfOne · 23/11/2008 11:42

Will admit that John and Kristina's last dance bought a tear to my eyes too. It was lovely and his comments after for her were lovely too. Really hope she stars again next year.

Clayhead · 23/11/2008 11:52

I loved Kristina too.

Also think, whatever the take on the JS thing, he will be better off for it as he will be very much more in demand as an after dinner speaker now with all the publicity he has had.

Austin danced well in the quick step but it's not a dance that has the ability to amaze on an emotional level, I mean, it doesn't make me joyful or tearful. I admired the energy and I'm glad he got the dance out of the way. I think I feel the same (generally) with the foxtrot too.

--

I think I'll have to eat my words. Rachel looked divine. Pass the salt and pepper!

mabanana · 23/11/2008 13:29

God, I lOVED the high emotion last night, with the dance and John praising Kristina for her character and calling her the 'best dancer in the world' then Kristina, with tears running down her orange face saying 'I admire him, I respect him and I adore him...oooh, so much more fun and dramatic than the dancing, which seemed dull as anything in comparison.
People are so right, it was the tender May to December relationship between Kristina (Marilyn Monroe fighting off a chandelier, as Caitlin Moran put it so beautifully) and John Pooh Bear Sargeant that made them so popular.

pinkteddy · 23/11/2008 13:29

Right here are my thoughts for this week FWIW:

Rachel and Vincent - wow excellent foxtrot!
Jodie and Ian - surprising good jive and I thought fairly marked
Christine and Mathew - I agreed with the judges this was slightly flat to me - didn't have a wow factor, think she should be in dance off this week.
Austin and Erin - don't get Austin, consistently overmarked IMO. Didn't rate this. Agree what was Erin's dress?
Tom and Camilla - fab tango
Lisa and Brendan - great quickstep - but no better than Jodies and I think I'm right in saying marked higher. Lisa is a good all rounder though but I suspect she will go out in the next few weeks as she comes across a bit false.

No idea who will go this week!

squeaver · 23/11/2008 13:32

It would be good if Tom or Austin were in the dance-off, just for it to be one of the boys for once.

I've got a horrible feeling Jodie's going to be out.

I thought the foxtrot was good but not WOW like their rumba last week.

PinkPussyCat · 23/11/2008 13:40

I think I must be the only one who didn't 'get' Rachel's foxtrot. Her dress was awful - all that tulle was as stiff as a board and not flowy at all. Not a patch on her rumba.

Felt sorry for Jodie feeling ill! Bless her
Really liked Christine - also the barney Len + Arlene had afterwards!
Tom - meh
Lisa - Loved her dance

I too have a horrible feeling it's going to be Jodie out...

Febes · 23/11/2008 13:52

I thought Lisa and Brendan danced well I liked her dress and the music and the routine.

I didn't think much of Christine's dance it was ok but not her best she is better than average but not wow.

I enjoyed Jodie and Ian cause I love them but it wasn't the same standard as the others so I worry for them.

Austin and Erins dance was ok but I didn't think it desserved the lavish praise. I was wondering what was going wrong but then they said about his finger being dislocated poor bugger. I liked Erin's dress .

Tom was ok but I am sick of him and his smugness he should be in the dance off just to shake him up a bit.

Rachel was way over marked imho her dress was awful and the dance ok but unremarkable.

PinkPussyCat · 23/11/2008 13:57

Unremarkable - Febes that is the word I was looking for. I think Rachel is tecnically excellent but for me there's always something missing. Can't put my finger on it.

I would like to see them cancel the dance off for one week only, and just for fun have Austin + Tom do a smug-off... mind you we all know who'd win that...

ruty · 23/11/2008 14:01

there is soething missing with Rachel but i think she is allowing herself to shine a bit more each week. i think she is probably so used to appearing polished and preserved - Sclub 7 a very packaged and manipulated thing, and now she has to find her individuality and character. I would really like her to do well as I love Vincent and he deserves to be in the final.

LadyGlencoraPalliser · 23/11/2008 15:05

Was it just me or was Tess having a serious wardrobe malfunction at the beginning of the show? We were riveted to the acres of nork on display and wondering whether it was going to slide any further south as the show progressed but by the time she was backstage with the contestants her dress appeared to have regained an acceptable altitude.

PinkPussyCat · 23/11/2008 15:08

Yes I noticed that too LGP! It was as if she was afraid to stretch her arm up too far for fear of 'popping out'!

Clayhead · 23/11/2008 16:34

Tess's dress made me feel nervous!! Like something was about to escape at any moment.

dh liked it

cyteen · 23/11/2008 16:57

tom and camilla's routine was very well choreographed, very witty. so why can I still not warm to either of them?

thought lisa was actually very good this week, and looked gorgeous - I want that dress.

still love jodie and ian but the jive is really not her dance

christine looked fabulous but i agree with CRH, it was too sticky and wooden to work well.

cyteen · 23/11/2008 17:08

ha ha, hilarious cut from the end of rachel's lovely delicate foxtrot to her mitchell brothers-style brothers nodding their big bulldog heads with approval agree that the dress wasn't great but then i actually liked camilla's dress this week perhaps i am ill...
