Here we go...

Hi folks, I'm loving this page and always check out your wise words when I'm looking through MN. VP, the cheesy shopping page is fantastic, but who on earth would buy an £11 mug?????
To throw in my twopennoth, I lurvve Brian, although I suspect he bats for the other team. He is a sweetie. His and Heather's tango looked good on ITT roundup tonight. Not keen on Rachel although Vincent also makes me smile. Its probably sour grapes as I am her height but strangely twice her width.

unknownrebelbang · 05/11/2008 21:20

rofl, have just read the diatribe interview - how many hours is she claiming to work?

£17,000 for 25 weeks' work aint bad in my neck of the woods.

Nagapie · 06/11/2008 14:42

Read elsewhere that Brendan was moaning about only getting paid £30,000 for this series...

Febes · 06/11/2008 20:01

Claudia had more nicce shoes tonight

TALLULAHBELLE · 06/11/2008 20:36

Wonder if they all get paid the same regardless of how long they are in comp. Must be much less work for those out in early weeks who then just have to do prof dances in comparison to others who are choreographing & teaching slebs, training with them every day, 2 dances towards the end & still involved with the prof dances too.

Tigerschick · 07/11/2008 07:24

I would guess that they all get paid the same ... it could be argued that it's not their 'fault' if they get voted out early ... the serise before last Matthew Cutler was voted out the first week then went on to win last serise, so it could be argued that he wasn't to 'blame' for being voted out first before.

The article about being paid £30K was in the Sun. There is a link to it on the other thread.

annaje · 07/11/2008 09:53

Is anyone else getting fed up with the judges "favourites" getting the good comments all the time. Rachel seems to put out a good solid performance every week, but she never gets he same comments as say Cherie, who quiet frankly was awful this week (and last). The same with the men - Tom IMO was just as good as Austin - but he is clearly their favourite.

DownyEmerald · 07/11/2008 16:49

yes - i do feel to a certain extent the judges have made up their mind about most of the people - and they would have to be bloomin' amazing to change it.

fionaann · 07/11/2008 18:57

I agree with the comments about Cherie - who was awful - but I think that Rachel's performance - when I watched it a second time - did lack punch, especially if you look at how much bounce Vincent puts into the dance. She did get 32 which is a pretty good score for a pretty good but not spectacular Louisa Lyttleton style jive. Maybe the judges find Tom as irritating as most of the rest of us??

Saker · 07/11/2008 20:59

To start with I didn't see what they were getting at with Rachel's jive but then I watched Alesha's jive again on Youtube and I did see what they were saying. Alesha's was just so much more full of energy and enjoyment. Trouble is I could spend half the day rewatching my favourite dances on Youtube. Next, I had to watch Matt and Flavia salsa again also - I think that was just brilliant. In fact it made me think that there is generally a lower standard this year, although it's probably a bit earlier in the competition.

Clayhead · 08/11/2008 10:41

'Maybe the judges find Tom as irritating as most of the rest of us?? '

Exactly!!!

squeaver · 08/11/2008 15:49

Ladies you're going to like this from the Times today.

I particularly like, "Austin Healey is so orang ehe looks like he's got liver failure"

fionaann · 08/11/2008 16:50

Have just been catching up on ITT before tonight's show.

Loved Anton and Flavia's choreography section and Darren and Craig's midweek review. Loved Jodie and Ian - great to see the progress she has made.

It's a shame they don't have the alternative panel this year - although Jason Donovan was surprisingly good on Friday's show - especially his comment about Tom's offputting expression.

Loved Heather's friend Shovell. What's with the Adrian and Christine show of togetherness? I wonder if his daughters, like lots of little girls, are into Strictly and if so how they feel about seeing daddy on the show supporting his special friend? Wonder if he will take them along one Saturday night for a treat. Interesting that there was no sign of Christine's alleged boyfriend.

DownyEmerald · 08/11/2008 17:00

thanks for link squeaver - I enjoyed that

Oblomov · 08/11/2008 17:03

Haven't posted for a while, because I have been off, giving birth to ds2
Have watched all episodes on sky+ now, so up to date.
Wasn't it awful when Head Judge said the problem with Mark, the swimmer, was that he just couldn't dance.

I am more in love with Brian Fortuna than I was before - I did mention this on the previous thread. This is very bizare, becasue I normally like fat, funny men like Peter Kay or Phil Jupitus. So why do I like Brian Fortuna so much ? It is a mystery. I can't see him lasting though, I think Heather will be sout soon.

Febes · 08/11/2008 17:09

DH is going to make us watch rugby starts now so will miss the start of strictly have it on sky + but I like to watch in live

fionaann · 08/11/2008 17:09

Forgot to mention Brian's strange comment about who he'd like to be stranded on a desert island with - "Obviously a woman" - obviously??

squeaver · 08/11/2008 17:12

Congrats Oblomov! Is you lo called Len, Craig or Bruno?

cyteen · 08/11/2008 17:14

congrats Oblomov! have sneaked a look on your profile, he's very distinguished

glad to see you didn't neglect your Strictly commitments though

i have a dilemma: DS' bedtime has recently been moved from 7.30pm to 6.30pm (for bath, feed and bed routine). Strictly is 6-7.20pm. Do i (a) revert temporarily to the old routine so i can watch the dancing, albeit with tired baby in tow; or (b) act sensible, put DS to bed on time and watch SCD on iplayer?

TurkeyLurkey · 08/11/2008 17:19

I think its Heathers turn to go tonight. I'm warming to Brian quite oddly.

I think its the urge to get my tweezers out on his eyebrows though

squeaver · 08/11/2008 17:40

Can you really see John surviving another week though? Even the public runs out of patience eventually.

fionaann · 08/11/2008 18:02

Just heard that Len Goodman is on Loose Ends at 6.15pm today on R4 - thought this was live - maybe he's going to give an interview between dances??

cyteen · 08/11/2008 18:17

oh how i love jodie she's the star of the show for me!

jenk1 · 08/11/2008 18:19

oh dear the samba wasnt too good was it.

cyteen · 08/11/2008 18:21

it wasn't great technically, but you can't fault her as an entertainer.
