I actually thought that blonde woman made a really good, facilitating boss and am surprised she was fired this week (although the mood board and her style of presentation had no place in an ad pitch , or even out of a primary school classroom)

I thought Paul should go, because he was a shite project leader

Beansprout, I think Rachel worked for the NSPCC. OMG, look what I found when I googled! Ewwww!

Paul was a shite project leader, I agree.

WWW. OMG!!!!!! That is hilarious

I really love this programme and am totally hooked, I suppose I like Saira as she is the most like me I am sorry KS I am one of those detestable salespeople I even used to do door to door sales I loved it last night as I am in advertising (yes really) although not the creative side, I don't have those brains, I am a sales person ;) Rachel's pitch was soooo cringeworthy, I was gobsmacked. Looking on her CV she was a former advertising sales exec, it would be like me doing that pitch

My issue with Paul is that he has short man syndrome ! He really thinks he is it and he and Saira are so alike they clash. Ben (one of the quiet ones) is from Colchester and is a headhunter. He seems nice, but never puts himself forward.

Paul was a terrible project leader but he had a good point in that he had asked Saira and Rachel to call him if there were any problems and they didn't. I think that's what saved him (plus the fact that AS clearly likes him).

Rachel had to go, really, because she wasted time producing something that wasn't what they'd beeen asked to do when they really needed to push on with what they had been asked to do. Which was a pity because otherwise Saira would have been out of there on the basis of that pathetic excuse for a print ad. I think she's seriously damaged her long-term chances there.

Yeah he did say that, BUT he didn't really give them any information about the whole strategy. I mean he went off to do his thing and the gorls were asking what is our strategy? What is our strapline? They didn't really get that until late in the day. They did waste their time rearrangeing chairs - I know what they were trying to do, but it backfired spectacularly.

I thought AS was harsh on Rachel but I understand why he did it. And seeing that pole dancing picture, she truely HAD to go !!

I think the cohort of women has been very badly picked - maybe Sugar feels threatened by competent women, as Paul does. Where are the women with proper skills and experience? And why are they all so young? I bet James is in his late thirties and I bet most of the men have more skills and experience than the women.

actuall James is 34

Paul - 34
Matthew was 39
Ben is 29
Timothy is 26
Sebastian is 29
Raj is 30

Average age of men 31.5

and the women

Adele was 29
Miranda was 26
Adenike was 30
Saira is 34
Miriam is 26
Rachel was 32
Lindsay was 35

Average age of women is 30.2

Oh yes, Paul goofed big time in the whole (lack of) management thing but I think the fact that they didn't get back to him saved him -- when he said that in the boardroom you could see AS's attitude changing slightly.

Matthew was the oldest contestant (they said that in the first episode) so I suspect he was 39 rather than 29?

I wonder if in general women had more sense than to apply for something like this. I agree that as a whole they've not been a great advertisement for women in business -- in fact quite the reverse given the stereotypes they reinforce.

Oops misread your message I see you said he was 39 anyway [beats head on desk in vain hope this will improve vision].

The dancing was hide behind a cushion stuff - fantastic. She was so shocked she was fired. But, her face didn't fit, AS would never have picked her anyway.

Paul is a twat - what did he say last week about giving women a bit of power or authority. Agree about small man syndrome.

The biggest creeps are Brian(?) and Margaret - AS's helpers. Such cronies

Very pleased to see the receptionist getting a few more lines last night.

Thye're all odious but have reluctant like of Saira for being such a pushy bullshitter

Quite frankly all three of them should have gone last night! I like the dark headed girl, but really feel that some of the guys haven't stuck their heads over the parapet yet and so have survived (don't really have a view of Raj except he spends all his time bitching with Siara, and the guys in the other team just aren't distiguishing themselves yet...!)

Tinker - see dinosaur's earlier message at beginning of this thread about the white haired woman.

"The white-haired woman used to be the head of my group at work. She was damn scary in RL"
Dinosaur also says she charming, clever and really good fun (she's a lawyer) - so it shows you that appearances can be deceptive!

Saira - YOU MEAN the one WHO enunciates HER WORDS very CLEARLY even WHEN SHE IS SAYING SOMETHING of no IMPORTANCE?
