such a good show. How vile are those people though?

paul's too busy trying to 'outdo' Saira instead of getting on with the job in hand - thought her and James were fab tonight - worked really well as a TEAM.

Frizbe · 20/04/2005 22:18

totally agree, Paul is an utter prat, I certainly wouldn't employ him (or buy a car off him!)

reindeer · 21/04/2005 09:44

I think Saira will actually win as Alan Sugar seems to think being gobby = being good.

I thought Miriam was great and should have won, but obviously not now.......

If the final is Paul and Saira I'll be disgusted...

JoolsToo · 21/04/2005 09:45

Wolf jacket - ROFL!!!!

Enid · 21/04/2005 09:47

Tim/Paul next to go - maybe keep Paul for viewing figures and Tim is 'nice but dim'.

James is a dithering old fool as Saira once said.

Saira to win!!

katierocket · 21/04/2005 10:01

that really runined the programme for me actually because it shows that how they perform has nothing to do with it, it's just down to AS's personal preference. Agree that the two sidekicks were gobsmacked that he fired Miriam.

OP posts:
LIZS · 21/04/2005 10:22

I was gobsmacked at the time but tbh on reflection she really didn't manage it well. The guys were hopeless product selectors and negotiators and didn't ask for any info from the buyers unlike Saira. Miriam could have been quite specific in her ideas for products before they went to choose (grill should ahve sold far better than it did) and she should have asked them before the broadcast to feed her specific info during it - how things were selling etc - and she didn't. Unfortunately I think she got caught up in living the moment, good though she was on camera, and lost focus, thinking her pitch itself would be good enough. If she had asked one "producer" to speak at a time I don't for a moment think Paul would have kept out of it when Tim was talking but that would have shown him up for what he is, and it is a competiton after all. What I thought was unfair of AS was to give the others the benefit of the doubt from past tasks but to judge Miriam just on this particular one. Saira and James really thrived on the pressure and looked as though they got a real kick out of it.

As an aside, how do all the shoping channels make money, if taking £5k an hour gross is good !

WideWebWitch · 21/04/2005 14:25

I'm so pleased the spoiler on the other thread was wrong! The wolf jacket was hilarious wasn't it? I think Tim will go next, and then Paul, leaving James and Saira. Quite right too. I think James should win but Saira will (I don't know though)

have steered clear of the spoiler thread but still laughing about wolfy

sandycheeks · 21/04/2005 22:22

For the first time I was really happy for Saira, she did well when choosing products. Thought Paul was v.annoying. Could not stop laughing when the wolf jacket and foam matress sold well (Sandycheeks was in hystericals) Was totally when Miriam went!

Blackduck · 22/04/2005 09:23

My dp said they should have taken a couple of those jackets and modelled them up at the Scottish castle......! I think they should have bought one for Sir Alan...
I think, for once, Saira showed she had listened (to some extent) and knew her limitations - she was suprised herself at how cr*p she was on TV and how uncomfortable she felt....

katierocket · 22/04/2005 09:25

I was crying with laughter though when Saira was SHOUTING at james through the earpiece. God knows how he managed to keep it together.

OP posts:
Moomin · 22/04/2005 09:26

I thought I was going to do myself an injury laughing about Saira and james in those wolf jackets. Was outraged about Miriam going - why doesn't AS just cut out the last few programmes and say "I want to hire Paul because he's a MiniMe, jumped-up little shit with a sky-high opinion of himself" ? If Paul wins, then they deserve one another (he and AS)

So was the spoiler on the other thread wrong?!

I've been patting myself on the back for not going near it, as I'm usually so nosey. I hate the fact(?) that we've been told a certain someone is deffo going, as I think he's done really well, esp as he's obviously not one of AS's faves.

Moomin · 22/04/2005 09:27

I was hoping james and Saira would wear the wolf jackets into the boardroom

Milly1968 · 22/04/2005 13:38

How many of those moon jackets did they actually sell?? I don't think we were told.

The free paper on the Tube (Metro) had some interesting info on the programme and what happens at the end. There are going to be some surprises apparently! I'm not going to say anything else as I don't want to spoil it for anyone (and don't know whether it was true anyway).

Really hope Paul doesn't win, he seems to have a bit of a problem with working with women. I thought Saira was really annoying at the beginning, however, she's definitely got better and she certainly contributes much more than some of the others do. Not sure how Tim's managed to get this far, he seems to be a nice guy, but we haven't actually seen him do very much yet.

WideWebWitch · 22/04/2005 13:56

Moomin, I was really laughing at the wolf jackets too! The spoiler on the other thread was wrong, yay!

katierocket · 22/04/2005 13:58

yesterday I saw a woman wearing a variation of the moon and wolf jacket; it was a countryside scene complete with sheep and sheepdog. loverley!

OP posts:
sandycheeks · 22/04/2005 20:46

Katierocket - I saw a woman wearing a similar jacket today, but it had sheep dogs on it rather than wolfs. All the celebs will be rushing out to buy one now since their so obviously the in thing

MamanFlo · 24/04/2005 00:14

Just saw the rerun, and I am fuming !
For the first time I saw Saira giving a real good performance and I think also she toned down a bit. Good for her.
Paul's behaviour is consistently outrageous, and I haven't seen a real good business performance from him over the entire show...and in this particular one, he, the salesman is one of the worst (have you heard this comment from a producer : god saves us or smth! ). I think the way AS chooses his favourites is ridiculous and an insult to the business world. I don't even understand how he has built a £700M empire if he only can deal with people like him...that just doesn't make sense !
James was brilliant and worked well with Saira, when last week he had concerns over her : well done !
Tim is a bit transparent here...not interesting.

From a management point of view, Miriam's firing is justified, but it is not from a long term view : Paul and Tim should have taken responsibility as well and AS should have recognised her style during the show. But anyway, the girafe is gone...

Next show will be great I reckon...

tiktok · 25/04/2005 13:11

Dh and I have seen three - yes, three - different people in wolf jackets (one had horses on, but it was the same horrible thing)....none of the people wearing them looked good!!!

sandycheeks · 25/04/2005 14:07

oh Tiktok how could you diss such a cool garment, I look very nice in mine

tiktok · 25/04/2005 15:20

Whoops, sorry, sandy!

I bet you sleep on a bit of 150-squids foam, too

sandycheeks · 25/04/2005 22:19

How did you guess

robin3 · 27/04/2005 10:36

Tonight's the night! Can't wait. Can't imagine what is going to happen because surely the interviews will leave him no choice but to keep James....I reckon Tim will go because he's a little bit young and blank.
I'd love him to get rid of Paul/Saira but I can't see it.
