such a good show. How vile are those people though?

don't think Siara will go. ANNOYING though she IS, I think she's a good saleswoman and is pretty relentless, I think that AS appreciates that kind of approach.
THink Tim might go soon.

Why oh why does he insist on hanging on to Paul? You couldn't work with him, couldn't work for him and he would be impossible to manage so how could he fit into an organisation?!
I hate blame merchants. He is clearly rubbish under pressure and thinks he has nothing to learn. Hah!

katierocket · 07/04/2005 08:53

cos he makes good TV probably!

Because Paul does at least sell stuff, that's why he's still in I reckon. And he's AS's type I think, not too posh.

Gizmo · 07/04/2005 08:58

OMG!!!

I just realised I used to work with James! Took me until halfway through the programme to catch on, as he has changed a lot, but the voice and the attitude are unmistakeable.

Well well, as someone who has also tried to sell something to SAS, all I can say is they are welcome to each other.

WideWebWitch · 07/04/2005 08:58

Sorry, my pc went on a go slow.

fisil · 07/04/2005 08:58

isn't it obvious? The last four will be James, Saira, Paul and Tim. The last two will probably be Saira & Paul. This is because AS sees himself in them. He will hang on to Paul & Saira at all costs. That's why Rachel went when she was up against them both.

I can't believe people were shocked, as soon as we switched on yesterday I said "Ben or Miriam today." I love it, but it is pretty obvious.

And they're all such losers, anyway!

katierocket · 07/04/2005 09:00

agree fisil
LOL at Siara being told that the chutney takes 3 months to mature. "WELL is there ANYTHING else that we coudl POSSIBLY make with these ingredients"!

fisil · 07/04/2005 09:05

The first time Saira spoke to that chef, it was as if she thought she was a small child or someone who spoke little English!

WideWebWitch · 07/04/2005 09:06

I reckon Saira will win because she'll do ANYTHING to get a sale and that's what AS admires. Good on her for getting cook woman down from £50/hour (shockingly high for a cook anyway!) to zero too, you've got to admire her tenacity and absolute lack of shame!

LIZS · 07/04/2005 09:07

Unfortunately I missed the first half hour so didn't see the planning and actual manufacture. However, by the sounds of it, Ben's team made a FUNDAMENTAL(as Saira would say) error in not managing their basic costs and profit margins, and consequently Ben who should have realised this as leader had to go, sadly.

Hilarious once again, and it is really strange I feel I am 'almost' learning something here. I mean I thought the soup was a good idea until they said their flavours. Venison soup !!! It wasn't til the end of the programme they realised people at farmers markets are likely to be veggie or at least into healthy eating!!

Also I am really sorry, but hiring a cook to make chutney WTF It is the easiest thing in the world - they even had a recipe You chuck ingreadiants in a huge pan, cook for a few hours and bottle. You don't have to check for setting temp or anything. Inspired to do elderflower though, FREE FOOD!!

Paul has got to go, he is SUCH a bad loser, all that ranting when he loses and the posturing when he wins. He is bugging me so much. I know AS likes him, but I think he is getting away with more than some of the others. I could see why he got rid of Ben, he hadn't really invested much prior to this episode - then he couldn't keep control of budgets. Paul should lead next weeks task and then screw up Then he cannot blame anyone else (actually fair enough he tried to wiggle out of blameing anyone else, whilst shouting that IT WASN'T HIS FAULT!!

I think Saira is good, but a bit of a one trick pony, she is still in as she throws herself into everything and doesn't hold back. Her enthusiasm is what is keeping her in, along with her sales 'skill' I hesitate to write skill, because he sales are all about shouting louder and begging - not a huge amount of skill needed her, more total front !!

Tim is blending into the background too much and must come forward, James we know doesn't win, Paul CAN'T win, Miriam is in with a chance, but needs to learn a LOT. At least she does try and is quite professional (not in a Saira way). And Raj - well we can forget about him.

So my predictions are that a girl could actually triumph - at least Saira ia trying to think HOW Sir Alan would like things (eg NO WASTE etc)

Blackduck · 07/04/2005 09:42

Paul should have gone for that hissy fit he threw if nothing else. I really don't think he is as good as HE thinks he is.......makes me want to slap him....best line 'Well I definately can't be taken into the boardroom'......wanna bet

Moomin · 07/04/2005 09:48

Surely the quote of the night:

"We need to be AGGRESSIVE

It has to be CHUTNEY

And it has to be NOW"

???!!!
Knew Ben would go. It was him who ordered the venison but he sure kept quiet about that when Miriam was fighting for her life and Paul was acting like one of my bottom-set Year10 pupils ("GOD! It wasn't even ME! That is SO unfair! HOW was it me?")

Raj was sooo bloody lucky - he's still there by the skin of his teeth. We were convinced their team would lose and he'd be out on his ear, but when it became clear it was the other team, Ben knew the game was up, I think. He acted like he did when they did the Harrods job - he obviously hates the public!

We also analysed the clip of next week's. Was it a red herring to show Saira with the loudhailer saying "I've always had a big mouth" swiftly followed by the Shugmeister pointing his fat finger and saying "there's only room for one big mouth and that's me". Dh and I are so sad we try to work out the trajectory of his finger when he says 'you're fired' in the clips so we can work out who would be sitting where!

crunchie · 07/04/2005 09:53

Moomin, that is SAD

It is a total red herring about the big mouth thing, last weeks clip also showed Saira selling Chutneys to the jogger.

Paul was just like a stroppy child and needs a good slap

unicorn · 07/04/2005 09:55

...don'tcha just love the way he keeps putting his hands to his face in mock amazement that ANYONE (esp a woman) could dare to suggest he is not up to it!!!

JoolsToo · 07/04/2005 09:55

beginning to like Paul
glad Ben has gone

Raj is useless

Gobby did quite well last night on the selling side

beansprout · 07/04/2005 09:57

Paul practically turned into Vicki Pollard when anyone suggested he may be less than perfect!

bundle · 07/04/2005 10:22

saw this for first time last night..agree with cod's fashion assessment of tall woman. saira is SO funny & stroppy at the same time, yet v effective.

Sponge · 07/04/2005 10:42

Raj has got to go next though hasn't he. He was so bloody lucky that their team won - completely in spite of him rather than because of. The other two had to rescue themselves from all his poor, or lack of, decisions.
Haven't liked Saira at all for the last couple of weeks but thought she was OK last night (apart form speaking to poor, posh cook girl as if she was a five year old, foreign moron). She showed a bit of sense of humour for a change which was refreshing.

bundle · 07/04/2005 10:42

raj = chocolate teapot

Bagpuss30 · 07/04/2005 11:13

LOL at Paul turning into Vicki Pollard .

Saira was really good last night although I was cringing when she was trying to engage the cook also loved the comment about chutney, Moomin, I agree definitely the best of the night.
