is it just me or is tom overindulged rude and immature

if my 14 tear old was as rude and pathetic as that she would not be carried around on my back!

no, mum is stepping back, but in the end letting dad know he is an arsehole,
i probably would do the same,
IF i stepped back at all

MissTFied · 08/10/2008 21:41

Why won't the dad leave Tom alone? It's pick pick pick. He's obviously very frustrated at the moment about something. He's lucky Tom isn't worse.

God he's so childish and pathetic now, saying Jane chose Tom over him. Jane's in the danger zone now!

NotAnOtter · 08/10/2008 21:50

i dont think dad is areshole

maybe the relentlessness and 'bangingheadagainstbrickwallness' of teen parenting just gets to him

anyfucker · 08/10/2008 21:51

"danger zone" ???

what a twattish comment

if my dh said I was in the danger zone, he would get a very withering put-down from me

theSuburbanDryad · 08/10/2008 21:52

That dad is a knob.

SilentTerror · 08/10/2008 21:52

Nothing in my whole parenting experience has been as hard as the Teen Years.
Often look at friends with pre teen problems and think..'just you wait'.
Don't know w hy I am so smug though, have another 3 lots to go through1

theSuburbanDryad · 08/10/2008 21:54

I am hoping the cat will go psycho and kill him.

NotAnOtter · 08/10/2008 21:58

yes silent terror i am with you

The editing makes it seem almost staged at times.

LOL at him bitching about the time Emily was going out - I'd have focused more on the fact that she appeared to be wearing a bikini! In february!

WendyWeber · 08/10/2008 22:13

He was awful tonight

Can only assume - from the editing - that his horridness was related to the phone call where he was talking about having been offered the directorship but then nothing materialised; ie he is having a shit time at work so came home & kicked the cat (not literally)

NotAnOtter · 08/10/2008 22:13

i agree re editing even dp commented

ScareyBitchFeast · 08/10/2008 22:14

yep, he was wrong imo, Just to turn off whatever game tom was playing. i thought dh ws bad! however we just nag and nag and nag, don't jsut turn off.
perhaps you are right - about his obvious bad mood.
shame imo his wife slept on sofa

WendyWeber · 08/10/2008 22:16

Also tonight's prog was a long way on from the earlier ones in time, at least as far as you could tell from the light & the weather (they only had the cameras in for 3 months, & this was Valentine's, so I'm guessing it was Jan/Feb/Mar - not Christmas as no decorations ) so maybe there had been developments we're not privy to.

He certainly had it in for Tom this time for no good reason that we could see

ScareyBitchFeast · 08/10/2008 22:18

i thought the first one was mothers' day!! - how could that be! surely that is march,
unless - was it filmed over a whole year.

ScareyBitchFeast · 08/10/2008 22:19

dad was very childish over saxophone playing - two males fighting i spose

theSuburbanDryad · 08/10/2008 22:22

This is the first one I've seen.

I think Tom is going to smack his dad one at some point - justifiably IMO.

turquoise · 08/10/2008 22:25

Good point about the directorship etc, but I think a lot of his general, regular behaviour is appallingly disrespectful to his children - he never knocks before barging into their rooms, even the girls, yet expects their respect, and them to do exactly as he tells them, when he tells them. Yet he wouldn't stop playing the sax for one minute when Tom was on the phone - he'd have gone ape if it was the other way round! And still demands they kiss and hug him.

And all his psycho babble is driving me up the wall - if he's so emotionally literate then why the hell can't he see he's a control freak? No wonder mum's given up.

WendyWeber · 08/10/2008 22:29

See this is why I thought it was much further on (I didn't register Mother's Day in first prog, SBF) - Tom seemed to have a pretty good relationship with his dad before but in tonight's he hated him.

The other thing that hit me tonight was the JCUK tshirt, "are you going to church today?" & him asking Emily to bring someone home from the Church, not from Maidstone

turquoise · 08/10/2008 22:34

Yes - that slightly freaked me - and the reading the Bible in bed.

NotAnOtter · 08/10/2008 22:42

think he jested about baptist church

OP posts:
ScareyBitchFeast · 08/10/2008 22:44

but tonight was february!
all veyr peculiar.
i think tonight was just Tom's show,
next week it will feature a different member of fmaily.
i knew his quietness couldnt last

NotAnOtter · 08/10/2008 22:55

Tom was rude though
That sullen friend rude too
