Am I the only one actually watching this?Surprised there's not a thread about it!
Must be one of the saddos that likes choir singing.

Mind you some of the contestants are not really my idea of a choir! [pulls on slippers and buttons up dressing gown!]

LOVED the young welsh choir and would have sulked if they hadn't been put through.

Thought that Sense of sound were brilliant on their second and third performaqnce but dire to start with.

Agree about Gareth - what is it about him ?

D'you know, I reckon it's to do with David Tennant i.e. similar face and body build. Yes, that's it !

He's sort of cheeky and sparkly

flatmouse · 23/07/2008 14:47

Thought welsh choir fab although i did understand the relentless comment. There was no "light and shade" in the song (the first one)- pretty much all the same volume, but incredibly powerful i felt. Plus they've got their choreography down to a tee.

Don't particularly like sense of sound but agree cry me a river deserved to get them through.

Personally felt Dreamz should have gone out before the Brighton Gays who should never have done their "less gay" number.

Alleycats. Hmmm. I like the idea, i like what they are trying to achieve, wasnt keen on the MD. They weren't quite "there" yet.

Next weeks looks like it'll be a closer contest.

whoops.

DocBunches · 26/07/2008 20:35

Did anyone watch tonight? I thought the standard was much better than last week and I absolutely loved Revelation singing 'Rule the World' - it made me blub, but so did the police choir singing 'the Rose' (I hope they go through as well).

I wish the sing-off was on tonight and not tomorrow!

smartiejake · 27/07/2008 11:40

Oh great the sing off is Sunday! Yay- I sky+ ed the actual prog but forgot all about the results show! WHat time anyone know?

MrsJamin · 27/07/2008 12:44

I don't think it was as good as last week actually. There wasn't one stand-out song for me.

flatmouse · 28/07/2008 13:07

I haven't seen the second show yet... so don't tell me! But i totally agreed on which choir had to go. It was obvious the panel were voting through Revelation as well.

I think the police choir is your traditional male voice choir - not sure i liked them enough to go through. I liked the Tom Jones mix from Only Men Aloud but didn't like their second song - thought they let themselves down there. Really was impressed with the Last Minute (or whatever they were called) with Spider Man and their accupella (sp?) song. Hoping at this stage it's Last Minute taking other spot as they ar a bit different (if rather public school boy cocky!).

Hopefully will catch up tonight!

tortoiseSHELL · 28/07/2008 13:10

I haven't seen it all yet, but I agree about Russell Watson - he has a nice voice, but never sings un-miked, which an 'opera' singer would do - they would fill an opera house, above an orchestra with no amplification.

The whole 'solo + backing is annoying imo!'

EffiePerine · 28/07/2008 13:12

has the standard of singing improved?

D and I watched the second program (callbacks I think) and there wasn't a single choir that stood out

it is tricky - you have to have a lot of good singers (and be able to sing in tune, which was what DH objected to, my ear isn't that good)

MrsJamin · 28/07/2008 16:05

The 'Kiss from a Rose' from Only Men Aloud was outstanding, just brilliant, they just had to go through.

PeaMcLean · 28/07/2008 21:20

Am just watching it now

Very much liking the Cardiff choir - of course am biased - but think they're good. And the spiderman people.

am surprised that the Common room choir have got this far.

Don't tell me who got through haven't got round to watching the sing off as well.

smartiejake · 29/07/2008 06:25

Thought the common room choir were excruciatingly painful- can't beleive they got this far-very ammateurish compared to all the other entrants.

Didn't really like the last minute lot- very complicated arrangements (7 parts for one of them) and the spiderman one was very clever (although the one who sang the solo in that one was awful)but it just sounded chaotic and too hard to listen to.

Thought the 2 that went through were the best choice but none of the choirs really excited me like the ones from last week.

How did I miss this programme until now?

Recorded Saturday's show and have just spent ages watching, rewinding bits and watching again.

Then dashed to iPlayer to catch the Sunday show.

Revelation are amazing, I cried at 'Rule The World' but music does that to me. Had to do lots of deep breathing to get through 'Amazing Grace' without roaring as well.

'Kiss From a Rose' was stunning.

Must go programme the Humax to record rest of the series, will be on holidays and really want to see who wins.

MarsLady · 29/07/2008 17:00

So who went through? After the results show I mean.

bubblagirl · 29/07/2008 17:07

loved this one

SaintGeorge · 29/07/2008 17:12

I can't tell you Mars, PeaMcLean might not have caught the show yet.

The song was stunning though.

I might have mentioned that already

MarsLady · 29/07/2008 17:19

Thanks George! Knew I could count on you! Is it just ONE choir that goes through or two? And if so would the second choir cause an epiphany?

SaintGeorge · 29/07/2008 17:41

One from Saturday (Revelation) and one from Sunday. Others all now out.

New set of 5 next Saturday.

SaintGeorge · 29/07/2008 17:45

Sunday winner

Only for those who want to see of course

Next week the battle for the last 2 slots, between these choirs:

ACM Gsopel Choir
Hear Me Now
A Handbag Of Harmonies
Open Arts Community Choir
The City Of Bath Male Choir

SaintGeorge · 29/07/2008 17:47

The ACM Gsopel Choir sing gospel in a little known dialect called Gsoplish.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 29/07/2008 17:50

Am loving this programme.

I cried during the Sat show, then the Sun show. There were two songs which are very special to me and have a lot of meaning.

I can't wait for next weeks show, but I also think Gareth should be involved somehow ..... I heart Gareth

PheasantPlucker · 29/07/2008 19:41

Please bring back Gareth!!!!

MarsLady · 29/07/2008 19:45

Who is Gareth?

smartiejake · 29/07/2008 21:25

Gareth Malone- of "Boys don't sing fame" the documentary about the posh classically trained choir master who goes into an all boys tough sporty school and persuades them to join a choir.

Also went into a rough comprehensive school, trained and then entered the school choir in some international choir competition.

Sigh! [in love emoticon]

Can't beleive he is not involved in this competion.
