Early for the Week Two thread but ITT doesn’t seem to be attracting a lot of traffic so I think it’ll work. I’ll do another on the night if I have to.

KEEP DANCING 💃💃

On ITT, Emma didn’t seem to manage to keep up the pretence of the separate Sunday show.

I think she said something along the lines of ‘we start Thursday when we enter the Strictly World and end exhausted on Saturday, get up Sunday and flop then back to the real world Monday’.

At one point Ellie tried to include Sunday but Emma didn’t seem to catch on.

But there isn't a pretence?
It's like eg House of Games - it's prerecorded, but we accept when he says eg "Welcome to Wednesday's HOG" or Colin on Countdown saying stuff about the air date. Even when it was filmed weeks ago

Exactly if they aired a show on Sunday and refered to earlier or this evening it would be odd.

SCD keep up the pretence of a Sunday show. There is never any clear discussion of filming everything on Sunday.
Even the presenters and judges get changed so that ‘Sunday’ looks different to Saturday.

As do the hosts/ contestants on game shows that are filmed back to back. Rachel has a new frock every 'day' on countdown, the contestants on Pointless wear different outfits this isn't something that unique to Strictly.

Thank you. I never understand the strong feelings around Strictly doing this, it's mental

I thought she was talking about last weekend and how they felt.

People do get het up about the Sunday show, but most television we watch as live isn't. I think a lot of people want the results show on Saturday like it used to be, so the Sunday airing is generally annoying.

Even strictly on a Saturday isn't live live they pre record a little bit just incase anybody falls down stairs or Anton decides to swear 😀

I think the x factor started the Sunday results so Strictly followed, it was fine after casualty 😀

The difference being the X factor really was two live shows, Saturday night, then Sunday evening - slightly earlier time iirc.

They are never going to do a separate Sunday recording- way too much faff getting everyone back in, in to costume make up etc, removing the day off, losing a day of prep for the next week as you don't know until Sunday night.

I'd be fine with main show, an hour's gap then a 10 or 15 minute results show but I understand why they want to spin it out longer and show it on Sunday. They want kids watching so they don't want a midnight finish. I'm fully aware that I could find a spoiler but I don't want to so I don't- it not unavoidable.

@Runningupthecurtains
I worked at Fountain studios in NW London years ago, where X Factor was recorded, and I can tell you that there were indeed two live shows; Saturday and Sunday. Very different format from Strictly as far as setting up, costumes and production were concerned, but probably the reason Strictly went with the two live shows line at the start.
I’m sure Strictly are well aware the audience figured out the deception years ago, and as pps have said, they don’t peddle the lie now anyway.

Runningupthecurtains · Yesterday 18:29

Yeah I wasn't clear I meant Strictly would never do two fillings. I know X factor did but it was a very different animal.

Do you mean she treated you like poo? Disappointed to hear this! Good gossip though 👍

she couldn't have looked further down her nose at me if she had tried. i was very oooh ahhhhh about strictly and she literally said "i really enjoyed being in strictly" like she was trotting out her media training and literally she couldn't have been snootier. there was more to the interaction than that but seriously - she's going to get recognized and i was behind a counter so it wasn't like i was harrassing her/asking for a photo etc.

then i rattled on about snog marry avoid and she said "i did ALL of it" in a way which said "don't you know my back catalogue of HITS". i was literally doing the olivia atwood "ick" face by the end of it. (and i've met enough celebs over my 3874 years to know horrible when i encounter it)

The Strictly SM page has revealed dates for all themed weeks. There's one every other week.

I'm not sure I like this. I just want to see the results from a week of rehearsing a new dance without all the distractions and paraphernalia that comes with a themed week!

I was surprised to see Nadiya on ITT. She's obviously still part of the Strictly "family" - and she's due back on the show again on Monday.

Nadyia was Morning live during the week, doing their strictly fitness slot, I guess work is work.
