Claudia and ryland maybe

Having never seen Emma on any programme before apart from SCD last week I have warmed to her this week, she seems very natural.

Johannes however is completely the opposite. He is so talented as a dancer but I have no idea why he didn't continue as a pro and why anyone thought he'd be a good presenter. He is so wooden and I'm sick of the campness being ramped up to maximum, sidelong fluttery eyelash glances into the camera and his high heels and dresses. He would look fantastic in a well-tailored suit. Presenting just isn't something he's good at.

The scoring in general was appropriate for the first week. In some series they started on such high marks there wasn't that much room for improvement.

I absolutely love Zoe Ball, her and Emma would have been great.

I’m happier with the presenters we have than I would have been with Rylan.

Surely it won’t take long before Johannes learns to wait until the noise has calmed down a bit before he starts to speak. He could even have a visual clue from one of the backstage/technical staff. You can also see when he’s been told that the judge’s scores are in but someone else is speaking. Again, he can get help with that.

I’ve just set my recorder for Strictly It Takes Two. Monday’s programme is the first one of sixty. 😕
I’m not sure how many I’ll watch, apart from on Thursdays when I fast forward to Vicki Gill’s section.

We watch on delay so we watch dancing and judging then fast forward to scores. Skip most of the VTs as well. So can’t really judge the presenters as didn’t see most of them. Some great dances though, enjoyed that.

Ok haven’t read all the thread - Emma is great as a present totally natural bit other new presenters are awful/awkward. Don’t think I’ve ever known a year where there are so many unknowns as celebrity’s so they have an uphill struggle to make this interesting

I'm really glad they didn't have Rylan. I don't understand what Josh's role is. I agree he's like a kid with his mummy.

They really shouldn't give 8s in week one!

And yeah - curly Kai, get a haircut! I prefer the matinee idol vibe.

The problem with having both Emma and Zoe is that I am not sure who would do the main role downstairs

I really love Jo Jo but I think that he would have suited a roving reporter role

side note - Katya is fantastic , she always gets the best out of her celebrity as does Vito

Yes Emma and Zoe would have been great. The BBC have dropped a clanger.

She absolutely had nothing to do with Kerry and Brian's marriage.

He was divorced well before they were an item. Something to do with what he got up to on his stag night.

Josh would be much better upstairs - he has a quick wit and would be able to riff a bit with the contestants as Claudia used to. Jojo is just reading off a card, just not a natural at this.

I’m sure everyone will improve rapidly presenting wise, I remember the first week Darcey Bussell was a judge and she said yah about 3 times anin every sentence. I couldn’t bear it but she never did it again after that. But I’ve always thought the choice of Johannes as a presenter was weird – he comes across his very sweet and he’s obviously a brilliant dancer and his partners love him but he’d never shown any particular wit. Meanwhile Josh’s lack of live presenting experience is really showing, but I’m sure it will come quickly.

Make-up and hair have given Motsi an Ariana Grande look!

The presenter trio is odd. If Emma and Josh are essentially doing the same role, why do we need both? JoJo I'm willing on to get better as he's such a lovely person, but when you think of all the professional TV presenters they could have chosen for the role, it's unfathomable.

Really disliking the presenting, why 3?! It doesn't work. Poor Jo Jo is terrible. Wooden, awkward, no humour.

Emma is fantastic, and I like Josh but he doesn't fit.

It doesn't feel the same without Claud.

Enjoyed tonight, some interesting celebrities with potential.

The start of the show was very glitzy as if everything had gone up a notch.

I am disappointed that the format of the show hasn’t been changed more, hoping that ‘upstairs’ would go. Claudia had made it her own, so a great chance to remove it and take away the screaming dancers and faff.

I thought Johannes might have taken on a more of a ‘sofa chat’ using his experience and knowledge of dance, unpicking a technique that had been learnt and used rather than repeating the Clauditorium.

I don’t get the love for Zoe Ball or Rylan either.

I only knew dog man. I knew Dani but didn't recognise her!

I think that the problem with Johannes is that he lacks the experience . However, prime time Saturday tv is not the place to be learning the ropes
In addition Claudia is a hard act to follow .

Enjoyed it except for Josh Widdicombe. I watch Strictly for escapism and his nasal whine is definitely not that.

On a brighter note, Katya's arm hankies... producers have been stalking this thread for sure! 😀
