Of course youโ€™re moving to Earlsfieldโ€ฆ you need a dog.

I wonder where the Canadian couple work and whether that had considered moving a.l bit further out. Where you can get more space for your money

NCTDN · 14/10/2026 21:03

That Earlsfield flat was horrible! The windows looked out to a fence so the rooms / corridors were dark.

Dilemma999 · 14/10/2026 21:19

He was sone sort of data analyst I think so I guess earned big bucks.

I thought so too. Both the other two flats were better imho. And in the locations they actually wanted originally. But only 2 bedrooms.

circe94 · 14/10/2026 22:21

I thought the Canadian couple were oddly obsessed with the pub given that they also wanted to start a family. I also don't know why they ended up with that corridor-like leasehold flat when places like this exist https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/92953095#/?channel=RES_BUY

Check out this 3 bedroom maisonette for sale on Rightmove

3 bedroom maisonette for sale in Cargill Road, SW18 for ยฃ800,000. Marketed by Rampton Baseley, Earlsfield

Totally agree!

That house you linked to is a million times better imho.

Lightmayo · 15/10/2026 08:44

How do all these people have this much money? Pete and Cait are a personal trainer and graphic designer. Surely they canโ€™t be that wealthy?

HoldMyWine · 15/10/2026 08:52

Maybe inheritance? But yes I am always baffled at how much peopleโ€™s budgets are.

Banjas · 15/10/2026 09:00

That house is lovely and would suit the Canadian couple so well @circe94
Iโ€™m not familiar with London, is it near their search area ?
Perhaps it wasnโ€™t on the market when Locationx3 was filmed.

A long lease is ok I think as long as there are no service charges, which there arenโ€™t. Wish the Canadian couple had a sensible head on. Theyโ€™ll lose money or not make much on those flats and will still need to move for more space in the future. The stamp duty bill will be ยฃยฃ.

Edited

In my day a good lease started at 999 years. Couldnโ€™t believe it when Phil said 175 years is fine.

The money available on this programme astounds me ( no inheritance here so cant imagine it)

CrushingOnRubies · 15/10/2026 10:23

Yesterday on Homes under the Hammer one of the flats had a 125 year lease. And Martin whatโ€™s his name said thatโ€™s fine. In that show they start to worry when it gets under 99 years

They look to be in their 40s, pretty normal budget for the London area. Probably had some savings + made a profit on a previous property sale etc.

Hard to say what a personal trainer or a graphic designer bring in, both can mean a lot of different things. There are levels to both.

The canadian couple may have some family money, but also are probably earning a good ยฃ200k between them.

You realise that mortgage lenders will give a couple 6.5 - 7x combined earnings right?

No way.

4.5x is standard. Any more than that tends to be specialist lending.

circe94 · 17/10/2026 14:04

I don't mind high budgets but I find the London based ones quite boring because you can't really get much for your money, so they have a healthy budget and are still looking at shoeboxes.

Banjas · 17/10/2026 17:29

Thereโ€™s an Irish based programme similar to Locationx3 called Help Me Buy A Home.
Sundayโ€™s episode will feature a couple trying to buy a house in Dublin for 850,000 euro - ยฃ716,000 approximately which seems like a good budget but Dublin prices, while not at London level, are very high.
Worth a watch.

We had money from a property each from before we were together to put into this one house otherwise our budget would of been a lot less!

Sounds good. What channel is it on please

Itโ€™s on VirginOne in Ireland. Not sure if you can get it in the UK.
The main presenter is very good but they do a side bit with two thick lads having the achingly obvious scripted bantz and getting information from professionals which I fast forward over.
