Why on earth are this Canadian couple looking for poky, overpriced top floor flats when theyโ€™re planning a family and will need space for visitors? Itโ€™s going to get tiresome very quickly when theyโ€™re lugging a baby, shopping and all the paraphernalia up and down stairs. Crazy and ยฃ800k when flats in that area are tanking. They wonโ€™t be leading a bars and shopping lifestyle with a baby.

I know Shooters Hill well and the views are incredible but the houses are tiny and often have quite steep gardens. Very hilly and with just buses to get around. Those โ€˜Stevensโ€™ houses in Welling are nice but itโ€™s a different area feel to Shooters Hill.

Is it just me, or does Mel look pregnant in the starter pics when the ad break is over? Or maybe it's just that she is wearing a loose, baggy top?

Dilemma999 · 14/10/2026 20:38

Those Balham bedrooms are not a decent size!

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/10/2026 20:39

They need a 3 bed for family. Future and Canada

why donโ€™t they like it ffs

Mel & Cody = more money than sense imho.

JacknDiane · 14/10/2026 20:40

The Canadian couple seem nice and sensible

JacknDiane · 14/10/2026 20:41

Ouch...i spoke too soon ๐Ÿ˜‚

Meredusoleil · 14/10/2026 20:41

All that grey ๐Ÿ˜ฉ

CrushingOnRubies · 14/10/2026 20:41

Like this Shooterโ€™s Hill house. But that mast is rather imposing

Meredusoleil · 14/10/2026 20:43

Was just about to same exactly the same word about the mast ๐Ÿ˜†

HoldMyWine · 14/10/2026 20:44

I couldnโ€™t live with the mast in fairness

Meredusoleil · 14/10/2026 20:44

Earlsfield definitely more affordable than both Clapham or Balham.

Meredusoleil · 14/10/2026 20:45

But this flat is just long and thin. Hate that layout. Like a hotel corridor!

CrushingOnRubies · 14/10/2026 20:46

Had an ex boyfriend who lived in Earlsfield. Dont know about the schools. That well. But had a nice feel to it and lots of pubs

HoldMyWine · 14/10/2026 20:47

I donโ€™t like that long corridor, I prefer the 2 storey flats

Meredusoleil · 14/10/2026 20:48

They are 100% right to steer well clear of share of freehold flats.

But I still think they should be looking at freehold houses. Even a 2 bed starter home would be better than a leasehold flat imho.

It's because they want a period property I suppose ๐Ÿค”

CrushingOnRubies · 14/10/2026 20:48

Beatrix Potter primary school which seemed quite villager is nearby. But reckon it has a tiny catchment and whether or not that flat is in it. I donโ€™t know

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/10/2026 20:52

Agree the mast is a no go

OP posts:
CrushingOnRubies · 14/10/2026 20:54

Thatโ€™s a good choice of house to go for โ€ฆ that second house in Welling

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/10/2026 20:56

Why didnโ€™t they offer that in the first place

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 14/10/2026 20:56

He seems to be moaning they had to pay more but was ยฃ10k under their budget ๐Ÿ™„

OP posts:
HoldMyWine · 14/10/2026 20:56

Ah good I hope it all goes through for them

CrushingOnRubies · 14/10/2026 20:57

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/10/2026 20:56

Why didnโ€™t they offer that in the first place

They always do thatโ€ฆ and I donโ€™t get why. Waste of a phonecall and peopleโ€™s time. Is it a tv suspense thing.

Dilemma999 · 14/10/2026 20:58

A long lease is ok I think as long as there are no service charges, which there arenโ€™t. Wish the Canadian couple had a sensible head on. Theyโ€™ll lose money or not make much on those flats and will still need to move for more space in the future. The stamp duty bill will be ยฃยฃ.

HoldMyWine · 14/10/2026 20:58

Ah the Canadians are very sweet.
