New 6 episode drama on Sundays on itv

A police procedural fronted by Michelle Keegan and Douglas Booth, where they play detectives with a highly charged attraction to each other? Say less, ITV. We’re in.

This prime-time crime drama starts off in a depressingly predictable manner, when the body of a young woman is found in the small town of Wakestead, where DI Crane (Keegan) and DI Radley (Booth) work.

But as they work to uncover what happened to teenage figure skater Sophie Madsen, they discover “a tangled web of lies, institutional cover-ups, and moral compromise”.

the show will tackle the sadly very real misogyny that can be found in the UK police force.

The series also looks to have been influenced by the two Metropolitan police officers who took and shared photos (https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2021/dec/06/two-met-police-officers-jailed-photos-murdered-sisters-deniz-jaffer-jamie-lewis-nicole-smallman-bibaa-henry) “for their own amusement” from the murder scene of two Black women in 2020.

Keegan also looks like she’ll be turning whistleblower, turning her sexist colleagues against her in the process.

As the official synopsis says: “Crane must navigate both a murder investigation and the treacherous politics inside her own team.”

Alongside Keegan and Booth, you’ll also see Ian Hart, Nathan Mensah, Nigel Boyle, Joe Armstrong, Matilda Freeman, Gavin Spokes, Josh Bolt, Vikash Bhai and Ceallach Spellman all popping up.

What else do we know about The Blame?

The Blame is based on the 2023 book of the same name by Charlotte Langley, and is written, developed for television and executive produced by Megan Gallagher, who previously worked on All Her Faultand Wolf. Gallagher explained her rationale for creating the show, describing it as “such an important and urgent story to tell” right now.

ITV’s director of drama Polly Hill added: “The Blame is a brilliant new crime thriller full of surprising twists and a compelling investigation that also cleverly tackles police corruption, exploitation and misogyny as the thriller unravels…

This is going to be an unmissable drama and one I’m very proud to have on ITV.”

Finished this and really enjoyed it. Good acting and twists and turns I thought. Will stop there.

Indigovelvet · 22/09/2026 12:27

And DB is gorgeous!

Finished it. Won't say anymore, but I'm clearly an outlier. I'd rather have Lewis than Tom

But he’s not a wrong urn

was a reason

Full disclosure: haven’t watched episode 2 yet but that’s why I said “a bit of a wrong ‘un”… surely there’s no good excuse for concealing that he had met the victim earlier that day. Even if HE knows he’s not guilty and doesn’t want to waste time/send the investigation down the wrong path, that’s always the excuse people use when they want someone to give them a false alibi, for example. He is a cop: he should know he won’t get away with concealing it, it will make him look more guilty when it comes out and he shouldn’t be investigating this crime as he clearly is at best a witness, at worst a suspect who needs to be cleared.

You need to see e2

In real life as soon as Tom was arrested then surely the investigation would have been handed to another station to avoid a conflict of interest? It definitely wouldn’t be investigated by the suspects partner

I know that wouldn’t make a good drama but it just makes the whole thing unrealistic

bingobangs · 22/09/2026 20:12

This did get a bit better but i still thought it was pretty rubbish. It was trying to be two different things, a serious look at the misogyny in the police and a twisty suspend disbelief drama.

Watching the Split spin off, really like it so far.

JamTartLover · 23/09/2026 09:46

Its good but I wish there were more women in it, as I think it would have had more of an impact.

Also, it would have been more realistic. I know a lot of female police officers.

cramptramp · 23/09/2026 17:25

I’m enjoying this. Didn’t think I would but I love a twisty turner drama.

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/09/2026 19:31

I’m enjoying. In some ways annoying have to wait a week

i think I prefer the one every night

It is all on ITVX though, (all 6 episodes, I have seen 5 of them,) although I know this thread is a TV pace one.

I also prefer it when it's 4 parter Monday-Thursday, or a 6-parter, on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday one week, then Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday the next. 6 episodes within 10 days is better than 6 episodes over 6 weeks. A whole week to wait is too long!

We've been properly spoilt by Netflix, Amazon, and On-Demand TV! 😆

Agree! That's the ideal format.

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/09/2026 20:15

Really enjoyed this. Have seen it all (no spoilers). The commentary at the end of the penultimate episode sickened me but was in no way surprising. Actually horrifying what women endure.

Clawdy · 24/09/2026 13:46

It was a bit surprising that the chief told the whole office that Michelle K had revealed the footage about her partner. Maybe he did it deliberately.

moto748e · 24/09/2026 13:54

For sure he did.

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/09/2026 14:45

Hence why I think he’s a baddie

I enjoyed this despite thinking it would probably be a load of nonsense. I was very pleasantly surprised. I binge watched it when down with bronchitis.

IAmKerplunk · 24/09/2026 19:24

Binged it. Sorry Blondes 🙈 Hoping for a second series. I enjoyed it!

I enjoyed this, so I'm going to watch it tomorrow instead of The Split Up.

I think the killer could be one of the detectives who interviewed her. After the interview he may have said something to her.

Doyouknowdanieltiger · 26/09/2026 20:35

Im onto the last episode and tbh I'm struggling with the content of it all.

Mainly because I was molested at 14 and the police were rubbish, the shows proving a hard watch.

Yes its not all men, but tbh its most of them and im sick of it.

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/09/2026 20:35

the blond one is smarmy and the one by the locker

but don’t think it is locker boy

maybe the bearded one who was gulping coffee loudly

Tho also think chief is suss
