New 6 episode drama on Sundays on itv

A police procedural fronted by Michelle Keegan and Douglas Booth, where they play detectives with a highly charged attraction to each other? Say less, ITV. We’re in.

This prime-time crime drama starts off in a depressingly predictable manner, when the body of a young woman is found in the small town of Wakestead, where DI Crane (Keegan) and DI Radley (Booth) work.

But as they work to uncover what happened to teenage figure skater Sophie Madsen, they discover “a tangled web of lies, institutional cover-ups, and moral compromise”.

the show will tackle the sadly very real misogyny that can be found in the UK police force.

The series also looks to have been influenced by the two Metropolitan police officers who took and shared photos (https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2021/dec/06/two-met-police-officers-jailed-photos-murdered-sisters-deniz-jaffer-jamie-lewis-nicole-smallman-bibaa-henry) “for their own amusement” from the murder scene of two Black women in 2020.

Keegan also looks like she’ll be turning whistleblower, turning her sexist colleagues against her in the process.

As the official synopsis says: “Crane must navigate both a murder investigation and the treacherous politics inside her own team.”

Alongside Keegan and Booth, you’ll also see Ian Hart, Nathan Mensah, Nigel Boyle, Joe Armstrong, Matilda Freeman, Gavin Spokes, Josh Bolt, Vikash Bhai and Ceallach Spellman all popping up.

What else do we know about The Blame?

The Blame is based on the 2023 book of the same name by Charlotte Langley, and is written, developed for television and executive produced by Megan Gallagher, who previously worked on All Her Faultand Wolf. Gallagher explained her rationale for creating the show, describing it as “such an important and urgent story to tell” right now.

ITV’s director of drama Polly Hill added: “The Blame is a brilliant new crime thriller full of surprising twists and a compelling investigation that also cleverly tackles police corruption, exploitation and misogyny as the thriller unravels…

This is going to be an unmissable drama and one I’m very proud to have on ITV.”

I've watched 2 episodes so far and think it's the blonde guy out of the pair of pillocks!

Meredusoleil · 26/09/2026 21:02

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/09/2026 20:36

Tho also think chief is suss

But agree. The chief is also very suss, so if it's not actually him, he is covering for the actual perp.

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/09/2026 22:01

James is the blonde one I think

yes he’s a knob but is it too obvious it’s him

I think it's James. He looks suspicious.

JenniferBooth · 27/09/2026 21:38

Why didn't they take a video of the sd card recording now they have no proof

Beyond the search radius ..... they literally walked 50m or so. How can the search radius be so small

So did Walker take the card. Was he disgusted at it or did he stop it on her touching her self for pleasure

I couldn't work it out

It's pointing towards him tho that may be a red herring

James is not nice and I thought the door slam was fake and he wouid be waiting for her

Tom didn't look beaten up at the safe house - face looked untouched

So they framed the man 4yrs ago with the pink (nail kit ?) as couldn't nail it on him tho know he was guilty

Glad Theo ex bf has confirmed the card and her interview in going to the station

Also glad that peter confirmed that Tom couldn't have killed Sophie

Who was in the bushes - looked like dad or possibly vogel

Who was it watching them at the end?

The creepy copper who dragooned Lewis into the pub. And said, give her one for me.

moto748e · 27/09/2026 22:47

Anyway, at least it's clear now about Emma's dodgy secret (Walker aware, natch). So was that the SD card in question that Walker was watching? (But would he really do that? Of course not!)

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/09/2026 23:07

Why is my reply hidden ?

Yes. That was the recording of the Sophie interview that Stevens and James made. It makes Walker look dodgy (and guilty) as hell imho.

I might be mistaken, but he looks like that guy, DI Something, who spoke to Emma outside the station

moto748e · 28/09/2026 11:49

Tom's ex-partner? I don't think so.

It was definitely Tom's ex partner the Asian detective that was watching him from the bushes at the end of an episode.

Thank you @Blondeshavemorefun

I couldn't make out who it was.

I think the chief cop is suss too, not sure if he's the murderer but he's mixed up in it 😐

ilovebrie8 · 28/09/2026 17:18

Top cop is suss!
the guy in the bushes was Toms’s ex colleague that was interviewed
