New 6 episode drama on Sundays on itv

A police procedural fronted by Michelle Keegan and Douglas Booth, where they play detectives with a highly charged attraction to each other? Say less, ITV. We’re in.

This prime-time crime drama starts off in a depressingly predictable manner, when the body of a young woman is found in the small town of Wakestead, where DI Crane (Keegan) and DI Radley (Booth) work.

But as they work to uncover what happened to teenage figure skater Sophie Madsen, they discover “a tangled web of lies, institutional cover-ups, and moral compromise”.

the show will tackle the sadly very real misogyny that can be found in the UK police force.

The series also looks to have been influenced by the two Metropolitan police officers who took and shared photos (https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2021/dec/06/two-met-police-officers-jailed-photos-murdered-sisters-deniz-jaffer-jamie-lewis-nicole-smallman-bibaa-henry) “for their own amusement” from the murder scene of two Black women in 2020.

Keegan also looks like she’ll be turning whistleblower, turning her sexist colleagues against her in the process.

As the official synopsis says: “Crane must navigate both a murder investigation and the treacherous politics inside her own team.”

Alongside Keegan and Booth, you’ll also see Ian Hart, Nathan Mensah, Nigel Boyle, Joe Armstrong, Matilda Freeman, Gavin Spokes, Josh Bolt, Vikash Bhai and Ceallach Spellman all popping up.

What else do we know about The Blame?

The Blame is based on the 2023 book of the same name by Charlotte Langley, and is written, developed for television and executive produced by Megan Gallagher, who previously worked on All Her Faultand Wolf. Gallagher explained her rationale for creating the show, describing it as “such an important and urgent story to tell” right now.

ITV’s director of drama Polly Hill added: “The Blame is a brilliant new crime thriller full of surprising twists and a compelling investigation that also cleverly tackles police corruption, exploitation and misogyny as the thriller unravels…

This is going to be an unmissable drama and one I’m very proud to have on ITV.”

A drama like this has to be realistic and it just isn't.

Who would trust a policewoman who has a new boyfriend, then instantly thinks he's a murderer , then just as quickly thinks he isn't shortly after his arrest !
I can't take it seriously, which is why I find it watchable 😄

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/09/2026 22:36

Well she was going by evidence

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/09/2026 22:36

And the way big boss dropped her name into it. He didn’t have to do that

but means the rest of the team know she’s a grass and aren’t supportive to her anyway being boss and a woman

It isn't realistic, but I think you're being a tad harsh, he's not really a 'new' boyfriend, she's worked with the guy for at least four years, so they know each other pretty well. But there was enough evidence to make Tom look dodgy. Emma thought she was playing safe by doing it by the book and going straight to Walker. But as Blondes says, he dumped on her. Kinda pointing the finger of suspicion at himself there...

allthebadthings · 21/09/2026 22:49

I’m really enjoying reading everyone’s guesses! My DP is on episode 2 and doing the “I think it’s him. Is it him? No don’t tell me. Ok give me a hint. No don’t” Hmm
we don’t live together so watched it separately

Yes that was pretty shitty of Walker. It's almost like he's set both Tom and Emma up to ensure they don't report everyone else for their behaviour.

Although I guess it was going to come out eventually that Emma reported Tom.

I wonder if it was Walker that leaked it to the press on purpose after telling everyone not to talk to the press then 'on the war path' once it had been leaked. Throws suspicion away from him.

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 21/09/2026 23:41

You think it’s walker?

moto748e · 21/09/2026 23:46

Apropos of nothing really, but wasn't there a TV cop series years ago where the dodgy senior copper was called Walker? Was it Prime Suspect?

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/09/2026 23:52

im not sure but seems to point to Walker tho that prob means it isn’t him with 4 to go

he’s also not left handed - not is Tom

the 4yr flash backs look like she plants false evidence tho don’t know what.

but couldn’t seem to convict him raping tho knew he did , and no dna as used a condom so I’m thinking she /she falsified something to get banged up

tho why show 4yr flashbacks

Agree they're clearly highlighting that Emma did something dodgy four years ago. But if not Tom (obviously) or Walker, then we're running out suspects for the characters in it so far, other than the junior coppers in the WhatsApp group.

BluebellBeth · 22/09/2026 00:01

ATM I think it's walker. But that officer that put up the pic of Sophie said he was on duty the night she was murdered. That makes you dismiss him initially but now we know it was a the police radio in the background of the 999 call. So maybe we're meant to think it's walker but it's the original bloke and walkers covering for him for some reason?

sittingonabeach · 22/09/2026 00:54

Could it be Lewis as he said he was working that night

No. He’s a goodie imo

Late to the party as always.
I am bored with it. The acting from the two leads is dire and the story is atrocious.
Having said that, I'll stick with it, although I am off work today and tomorrow so might watch the rest on catch up

Hope you're on the mend. Flowers

Thanks. Covid sadly.

everyoldsock · 22/09/2026 07:34

Well it was OK but weakened by the two miscast leads, especially Booth.

sittingonabeach · 22/09/2026 00:54

It could be but I assume as he is also the outcast in the department (one assumes for racist reasons) it won’t be him.

so walker or “man with Sophie picture”
or IT man?
the other 2 -officers -coffee slurpers plus police woman with short grey hair don’t have enough personality for it to be them.

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/09/2026 08:21

I didn’t get the point of slurping - just came across as rude

Peachy2005 · 20/09/2026 22:05

Ugh I knew he was going to somehow be a bit of a wrong ‘un…far too good-looking for a cop 😂

He’s amazing looking 😂
i did think at the start he’s prob dodgy but didn’t voice it to DH - he prob didn’t believe me when I said ‘I knew it’!!

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/09/2026 12:14

But he’s not a wrong urn

was a reason
