Thanks shelling ! Why the writers can’t make it as clear I’m
not sure! 🤔

EmeraldShamrock000 · 07/10/2026 15:26

Ned is a bad egg. A shit stirrer. He must be brave as I don’t think Nicola would think twice about offing him.

NowNumber5 · 07/10/2026 15:35

What is Ned up to, listening in on, and gathering all this info on Ian?

I like Gemma and her relationship with Nic.

Cheering Penny on firmly putting Suki in her place re Baby Ethan!
(Scary Clowns though Vinny - really? 😂)

Suki in true MN Mil from hell fashion letting herself in with a key!
Mind you, none of their doors seem to have locks anyway, the way they all saunter in and out, especially when there's crazed villains on the loose!

the80sweregreat · 07/10/2026 15:37

Wait till Suki finds out her precious grandson isn’t Vinny’s ! She already puts him down and treats him like a small child ( if this turns out to be the case of course)

Shellingbynight · 07/10/2026 16:07

It only became clear Gemma is the oldest when she mentioned 1994 the other day. It would make so much more sense if Nic was the oldest.

It crossed my mind that both Rose and Gemma are gaslighting Nic about the dad. Gemma gave Nic a couple of looks yesterday. Gemma may have escaped dad's attentions herself but she must have known what went on, the daft ditziness may just be an act.

murasaki · 07/10/2026 16:09

I thought she was looking at Nic because they'd had that chat on the bench and she thought she might kick off.

Shellingbynight · 07/10/2026 16:16

You might be right.

I'm just thinking how Wadey loves over-complicating things.
And I find Gemma a bit too saccharine sweet.

murasaki · 07/10/2026 16:18

Me too. She's a bit like Tina in that respect but Tina had some bite.

murasaki · 07/10/2026 16:22

Shellingbynight · 07/10/2026 14:24

@thisoldcity Same here, I thought Nic was the oldest for the same reason. But she can't be.

Nic had Harry when she was 18 in 2002 so she must be 41.

Gemma met Ned in club in 1994, they made a fuss about that the other day. That is 32 years ago, so even if she was only 18 at the time that would make her 50 now (the actress is 51).

But if Nic is 9 years younger than Gemma, or let's say 7 as we all (well some if us) went clubbing younger than 18 in the 90s, that would make her 15 to 17 at the birthday of doom as I'm sure Nic said she was 8. Far too old to be at a swimming lesson...

the80sweregreat · 07/10/2026 16:32

It would be sweet if Genma is actually the baddie and nobody realizes !

NowNumber5 · 07/10/2026 16:34

I'm sure if the EE writers/producers are reading this, there'll be a big birthday bash (with balloons, banners and a theme of course! )
for either Nicola or Gemma soon 😂

Shellingbynight · 07/10/2026 16:44

I can't remember the birthday of doom details @murasaki but I agree none of it really adds up. It will probably make no more sense than the Zoe fiasco or Linda marrying Max on NYD.

I could be wrong, but I'm sure there was a doll involved, so not far off.

And yes, sense seems to have left the building.

MadisonAvenue · 07/10/2026 16:57

Ned is giving me the creeps

the80sweregreat · 07/10/2026 16:58

The Ivy doll was just a doll that Nicola had as a child and loved. She named the invisible Ivy after this doll.

It's really odd isn't it. I also assumed Nicola was quite a bit older than her sisters. Very confusing.

the80sweregreat · 07/10/2026 18:19

We all thought she was older than Genma. She appears older , looks a bit older and gave the impression she was the one looking out for the other two at home as the dad was awful and mum sided with him ( to keep the peace I assume )

NoisyBrain · 07/10/2026 20:57

So much about the Hawkins family ages and timelines doesn't make sense. I was sure that Nic was the oldest sister. Maybe in the the swimming lesson story Gemma had actually taken Jodie to a swimming lesson in a parental type role <clutching at straws>

As for the casting of Ryder, was there really not anyone suitable under the age of 25 to play him?? I can't even try to suspend disbelief when he's on screen because to me the actor looks older than 31! 😂

the80sweregreat · 07/10/2026 21:16

Why they couldn’t find a younger looking actor to play Ryder is a mystery! Surely many actors like soaps to start their careers. Is there a shortage ?

Shellingbynight · 07/10/2026 21:23

Yes Ryder looks practically old enough to be dating Nicola! Why on earth was he chosen.

So now Nic and Ned are going to be at war over Ryder too.

I felt sorry for Ian. The actor is really good. But the mock inspection made no sense, and why did Harvey have to be out for two hours to take Charli for a flu jab, I had mine yesterday, the appointment takes about 3 minutes.

the80sweregreat · 07/10/2026 21:27

Harvey isn’t all there is he! Trying to help lily is nice , but he is spreading himself thin now and annoying everyone. Good acting by Charli ‘ you want chips?’
’ no ‘ !

the80sweregreat · 07/10/2026 21:28

Kemi Badenoch wants the young to find work and pay taxes. She could start with the bbc casting department for EE! They clearly had trouble with Ryder.

the80sweregreat · 07/10/2026 21:33

Poor Ian though. Out of jail and already 200 pounds down thanks to ‘arvey’
His life is pretty bad atm.

I actually felt sorry for Ryder. Ned is one of those bullies who constantly undermines and hides their nastiness behind a jovial manner and "it's just a joke".

At least Jamie Bamber is a good enough actor to pull off the combination of charm and menace though.

the80sweregreat · 07/10/2026 21:47

Ned is a nasty controlling man.
To think I thought he might be ok, but I am clearly taken in by him being the voice of reason and so on. He just likes lording it over women :(
