And why is Ned so keen to keep his MIL sweet, but doesn't give a shit about hurting his SIL's feelings? It's not like he's married to her is it.

I didn't like the way Gemma kept looking at Nicola when the medal was unveiled, like she was waiting for her to explode or something.

Really not OK for Ned to put the medal in the club and how can Gemma not have any idea of what Nicola went through with their dad? Plus, why is their mum such a bitter and twisted little bitch? She can't possibly blame Nicola for her husband's death, can she?

I will never understand women who choose their partner over their child 🙄

Ryder and Oscar. Temporary fling.

Ahh, Ned will turn out to be homophobic as well as everything else then ;(

Ryder seeing a man? Is he gay or bi like Oscar? I really think the actor looks far too old to be playing a young person around 20 🤦‍♀️

I can’t imagine anyone fancying Ryder. He seems childish and a bit silly and doesn’t seem to be at work or studying or anything interesting.
They will probably change his character to be more sympathetic and Nicola will help him I guess.

Ryder definitely looks too old, the actor is 31 so not surprising. No idea why he was cast. Ned looks the homophobic type. But Ryder is so boring, I am not going to care. (I hope Oscar won't look at him! - ooh, Maybe Ryder + Josh.)

I think Harvey have 'mug' tattooed on him because both Jean and Kathy treated him that way. He is a bit of an idiot, I don't know why he was a prize for them to fight over!

Oh yes what is Lee up to with Jess? Presumably binned her off.

Also, who IS the oldest sister? It has to be Gemma in terms of when she got with Ned (1994), and then the age of her kids. But it would not make sense that as oldest sister she had no idea what middle sister Nicola went through with the dad.

I don’t care about Ryder. He made those pastilles and Ria nearly ate one thinking it was a sweet :(
He raided Kim’s drink at the wedding with Jodie end generally seems far too laddish. I bet they do a 360 degree turn on his character to try and make us all care that he is struggling and Ned won’t be happy.

Nicola acts like the older sister doesn’t she.
They often keep ages vague though.

Ned looks like he'd have a grand old time at a Tommy Ten Names march.

Ned is going to be a nightmare isn’t he especially once he starts running the bar properly.
Then Meghan will show up and she is probably a daddy’s girl and get a job there.

Maybe the Nic Chelsea fall out has something to do with Megan taking Chelsea's job and Chelsea reacting badly.

Not sure what the problem is with Chelsea. Not seen her in the bar for ages and never has a scene with Nicola , so whatever happens is an another mystery.
She might flirt with Ned. She likes men with a bit of power , but Ned hasn’t any money yet , so maybe not!
Ned blackmails mark next week.

Not sure why Genma has her head in the sand with so much of what went on with their late dad.
Ned knew. The mum was a victim of DV , yet thinks the dad was a good man . He was a drinker and caused a lot of problems, yet Gemma and Jodie were buffeted from it all, didn’t know what he was like or what was going on?

I think it’s just so that it all builds up to it coming out about their dad and more drama in that Gemma will be (incredibly) shocked.

Yes I'm sure you're right South. It just isn't very believable is it. Like most things happening at the moment!

I've assumed that Nic must be the oldest sister and protected the others from their dad. She still doenst want to say too much in detail about him. Nic and her reaction to that medal was EE at its finest - we the viewers know what is going on and how much she hates it, then the tension of what she night do and then the perfect lie! Makes us now totally be on Nic's side I think!

Nicola started off awful and they will gradually soften her character a lot more make us feel sympathetic towards her. I like the character, not a critique of her , but it’s a soap trope isn’t it. I can’t past her being involved with Shireen dying and she was pregnant too, I wonder if Nasty Ned knows about that ? Teddy does.

I do hope not. They can’t keep pairing Oscar up with the worst actors in the cast.

@thisoldcity Same here, I thought Nic was the oldest for the same reason. But she can't be.

Nic had Harry when she was 18 in 2002 so she must be 41.

Gemma met Ned in club in 1994, they made a fuss about that the other day. That is 32 years ago, so even if she was only 18 at the time that would make her 50 now (the actress is 51).

Quite a big gap between the sisters then.

It’s annoying me that they haven’t made Nicola the eldest as it makes more sense all round.
