The Priya actress is Asian in real life I think, her real life mother is a well known Indian actress Shaheen Khan. In the soap she is clearly cast as at the very least half Asian as her character’s surname is Nandra. I don’t think they are trying to pass her off as white? If they were, the baby being Max’s wouldn’t have been such an issue because if it looks white she could just say it takes after her.

I genuinely thought the character was supposed to be white. Although it's not something I thought about until the who's the daddy thing started.

Meredusoleil · 03/10/2026 17:31

The Priya actress is mixed: white and Asian I believe. Absolutely gorgeous too!

Shellingbynight · 03/10/2026 18:08

As Mere said, Sophie Khan Levy is mixed race. Priya was either intended to be Indian or mixed race, Priya is an Indian name and there is no way she supposed to be white.

Alucard55 · 03/10/2026 18:40

@Shellingbynight @Meredusoleil agree absolutely gorgeous.

Well I was completely naive there then!

Shellingbynight · 04/10/2026 08:31

It was all such a bizarre storyline though wasn't it. Maybe it was intended to run for longer, but within about two weeks Priya discovered she was pregnant, decided to terminate, decided not to terminate, and left her entire family for not real reason.

I would like to think that it was such a hurried mess because of the actress's pregnancy, but I very much doubt that was the reason - judging by all the other hurried messes like Gray/Sheila and the Hawkins.

the80sweregreat · 04/10/2026 09:46

I bet that it was a bit rushed with Priya because the actress was pregnant in real life and they had to write her out. It may have even changed some of the storylines too with Max finding out she is pregnant.

Her surname is Nandra-Hart.

I think they could have brought the Hawkins in gently and gradually got us used to them. Bringing in multiple incredibly irritating characters at the same time accompanied with an overcomplicated storyline that has more holes than a big chunk of Swiss cheese was a bad move.

Or just not cast a family of multiple irritating characters 🤯

Southeastdweller · 05/10/2026 08:32

I found the scene with the Hawkins sisters singing to a Take That song with wigs on laugh out loud funny in today’s episode but I expect I’ll be in a minority of one.

Nancy returned - pregnant - and Lee is the father! This is probably building to Linda’s exit.

Surely not , Lee and Nancy are brother & sister ?

The episode ended at the reveal but I expect we’ll find out tomorrow the pregnancy was done via artificial insemination. I think this is the first time a soap has done this story.

It'll be surrogacy. That's why she is talking about contracts.

But the last thing I remember about Nancy is her not wanting kids, in fact she had booked a sterilisation. So to go through a pregnancy on behalf of someonelse seems, let's say, odd.

This is so very very true… it’s solidified in my memory, isn’t that why she and Tamwar broke up? I might be making the last part up. I’ve not seen today’s episode yet, just turning it on now - but it sounds oh so messy.

the80sweregreat · 05/10/2026 10:01

Penny was holding her scar today. I hope it’s not a bad sign for her.

the80sweregreat · 05/10/2026 10:09

It was the old Lee and not a new head.

MyWildOliveGoose · 05/10/2026 10:26

My thoughts on today.. I don’t feel like the week has started well.

The Hawkins are honestly just annoying me. Picking on Barney over breakfast just no. I’m particularly precious with Barney because I think he has such potential and I love his character, I also love how Zack just embraces him for who he is. It feels very wholesome.

Nugget being Walfords very own silver spooner lol not worked for a thing he’s inherited and putting Lily down who’s been working so hard, whilst I was quite excited at him and Avani taking on the businesses and seeing what they did with them I am now hoping he will fall on his face a bit! How lush of Lily to get such recognition at the careers Fayre, I did wonder where her storyline may lead when she was pregnant at 13, I’m glad she wasn’t just a brushed off young mum with no other storyline forever.

Is George actually stupid or just got short term memory loss? He seems to have forgotten Teddy’s concern as soon as he thought Ned might be around and now George is like “let Ned take overrrrr.” I would however like Nicola to just let Ned talk instead of the constant sniping tennis as the scripts are just driving me mad.

So glad to see Nancy back but as said before, pregnant despite being so against ever having children and considering sterilisation. It does look like a surrogacy storyline though, I wonder what’s changed for her to need Jonny’s help and be talking about contracts etc. It didn’t seem like she and Lee are in disagreement about anything.

Aaah, Suki and Vinny talking about Ethan’s skin tone, that was warm and lovely, I do really love Suki. I do hope the baby is Vinnys, even though I think they’re moving towards him not. Although, they could do the whole “skin tone casting doubt, paternity test done, turns out he is Vinnys.” Them highlighting the struggles on parents in the postpartum non-sleeping baby stage is nice too.

MadisonAvenue · 05/10/2026 11:51

Jodie is a horrible character, she’s got no redeeming qualities whatsoever.

I also noticed Penny touch her stomach, really hope that was all it was and not a bad sign for what’s possibly to come ie Jack looking after Ethan for some reason that we’re not yet as aware of.

Loved the scene with Lily in the community centre.

Janine must be back soon, it feels like ages since the photos of her filming appeared online.

A question to those that watch Strictly .

The actress that plays Stacey ( Lacey Turner ) is on it , and going by her character on Eastenders I've always imagined she is an outgoing & feisty character off screen as well .
I am quite shocked at how shy and quiet she seems or at least is coming across .
It's not a criticism and infact it is quite endearing .
interested in thoughts of other opinions ?

I was surprised at her voice tbh. Had to look twice to check it was actually her! Think I'm too used to Stacey's cockney accent.

I enjoyed the podcast with Lacey Turner and Anita Dobson for the 40th anniversary.

The take that bit was funny. I was wondering if they’d go as far as the choir backing bit and they did, I genuinely laughed.
Still don’t think it needs all of them, plus I cannot fathom why Nichola would allow her hateful mother to live there as well considering how utterly horrible she is to Nicola.
i presume it’s to show her weakness/ Achilles heel and is building up a huge Nicola family storyline.
also not impressed Nancy and babydad has suddenly appeared, feels like they’ve just canon balled in so many characters lately, nobody’s really given any space to flourish

Yep Jodie feels like a filler character for no discernible reason, and not a great actor either. Nor the boy, I don’t even know his name…
the careers fair was a lovely scene, very sweet and so lovely to see when a young person realises their own potential

George seemed like quite a switched on bloke when he first came, I feel like they’ve really dumbed him down into just an affable man who happens to box and sometimes takes it too far regardless of his health condition

the80sweregreat · 05/10/2026 14:52

Of course the ‘ I helped you kill your dad ‘ story will blow up at half Christmas or real Christmas time. Ned is just biding his time and George seems to like them all 🙄
