The whole story is probably a pack of lies. Probably why Rose is so hostile towards her (not that the dad deserved to live ) but Nicola clearly lost it with him and finished him off with Ned’s help too.

How can Megan be around 30?? Nic is only supposed to be in her mid-40s and she's the oldest sister. Just how young a mum was Gemma meant to be?!

Noisy , none of it makes any sense , yet they could have made it easier. Or not had Ryder in it at all.

That episode was all over the place. Gemma is fine on her own but the rest of the Hawkins all have faces that wind me up.

I like Nicola but when she was saying she worked hard for all she has I thought no you didn't. You've got Jumpers house because he's doing life covering for your son who committed a crime that started with you and dodgy drug dealings. You also bought the bar with your divorce settlement money.

Totally agree about Nicola. It wasn’t her hard work , just everyone else’s hard work and money ..
It didn’t occur to me before , but she’s not done that much really !

God the Hawkins are hard work aren’t they. We still don’t even know who’s the oldest😆

And another one arriving in the new year. We need less, not more.

I quite liked the Suki and Ash scenes today, at least they seem reconciled. Sort of.

Apart from that it was very dull. And since Ned has kept that secret from Gemma for 20 years I don’t see how he could reveal it without seriously damaging himself too so he isn’t a very good blackmailer.

Ned just wants the power doesn’t he. He likes lording it over women ( is my guess)
The big secret will probably come out over the Turkey next year with Gemma or maybe at half Christmas
I’ve a horrible feeling they will be around for a year at least.

Ashneet will probably do something wrong at the practice and it’ll be more fighting with Suki !

Yes I agree with you 80s. Ned wants control. And Ash will definitely mess up.

And as PP said, who was looking after Ivy? None of the Hawkins, and George is away.

Ivy is in the cupboard. poor kid.

@the80sweregreat I agree about Ned. His wife and sister are "ditzy* and that's probably how he likes his women. Rose seems to be one of those male apologists so he'll know how to work with that.

We really are digging deep into the psychology of the Hawkins family tonight. I bet it's much more background work than the writers have done.

And I can't believe nobody has even made a face at how white Ethan is. I know babies can come out all ways but come on.

Or how enormous he is.

She isn't on Penny's list of favourite people .
Maybe she'll "Why don't we get Ethan in for a check up" but not by her obvs , that can be one of the Other Invisible Doctors

Ash still needs to do her GP training as it sounds like she was a Hospital based Dr , she mentioned the role was Trainee GP at the Panesaes Family Practice .

I do like our chats on here and how we can dissect the characters! The writers don’t tend to this much.
I thought that Ned wasn’t too bad in the beginning, but goes to show how wrong I was! Probably taken in by his past jobs and how he smoothed things over , but only because he had leverage on his sil. Gemma will find out what he is really like over time.
Rose is fairly one dimensional.
The new family are not proving to be popular with anyone. It makes me wonder how long they will last. Facebook are very scathing.
The dog gets more votes and he is hardly in it.

I was saying last night about when they give characters personality transplants
I know Lacey has to go off but her leaving lily just wouldn’t happen.

Same with Priya, she would never have left her kids. And she didn't even really have a reason to!

80s I enjoy this thread more than the actual show at the moment!

Jean brings it up a bit about Stacey living so far away.
I understand they had to write her out , but maybe going to Spain may have been a bit better or even somewhere in the UK where they could have had Lily and Charli visiting her easily or shown some FaceTiming and so on. It’s hard to say she wouldn’t have left them as she had to be written out , so it is a tough one!
I agree that she wouldn’t have left them in real life! Jean never mentions Hope or Arthur either , they are her grand children. It was a selfish move and a rather silly one , but here we are.
Lily has suffered the most and Ricky isn’t around much and hasn’t been involved with the Denise story either.

Avani and nugget will be fine. They have their heads screwed on, Nugget wants to be rich and Avani is a lot more street wise than now after what happened with Joel. At least they have mentioned their mum and could do the FaceTiming thing occasionally.
I don’t know, but once the Priya actress found out she was pregnant in real life , it probably put a bit of spanner in the works and they then had to write her out of it fast.
At least she’s only in Leeds. I hope she returns one day

Spain would’ve been more logical for Stacey’s departure, and for Sean to be opening a bar. It’d make more sense for her leaving Lily and Charli when they can get a cheap 2hr Ryanair flight for a weekend visit.

I was on the fence about Ned but I’ve decided now that he can go with the rest, how many dodgy wannabe gangsters can there be in one little square?
Gemma can stay though.

Yep, it’s sad that Ned will turn into another grabby gangster sort.

The only interesting bits (to me) are
Nancy is back and is in some sort of legal trouble.
And Ian is out of jail and struggling.

I also read that Shane Richie has just been banned from driving for 6 months (due to speeding), and he is again up in court next month for the drink driving offence in July, when he was arrested at a petrol station.

Later, Penny's anxiety grows when Rose and Jodie comment that baby Ethan doesn't look like Vinny
