But .. why 20 years ago ( as uttered by the awful Ned today ) when H is 24 or whatever. The dad died 20 years ago. I don’t think his the dad , but I am usually wrong but it’s clear something went on. He mentioned 20 years ago the other week when he saw her in the office once when she didn’t want them living there and he made her change her mind.
Plus Adam had the stolen 25k just sitting around too! What’s the chances of that ? .. lol
Now she’ll also need to order in more drinks.

During the previous conversation Ned said something like he 'always looked after the family for her" and at that point she didn't really look worried, she was smiling like it was a shared secret.

If he was Harry's dad, he would have more to lose than Nicola so as South says I don't think it could be that.

She wasn’t impressed today when Ned mentioned whatever went on 20 years ago. She looked really worried.
Rose made me laugh when she mentioned her polyester tops. I think she always looks nice.

I haven't watched yet but I'm putting forward that Nic's dad is Harry's Dad (she does not speak much about him but has her day of heavy drinking on his death anniversary). She resents her Mother for not protecting her .
And Ned helped her kill him

If it is to do with Harry , it would be similar to what happened to Kat and even worse as it was her dad and not her uncle :( Really grim.
I hope it’s not this , but maybe Ned helped her kill him by tampering with the brakes on the car or something like that. Or they followed him and killed him and made it look like an accident as he had been drinking and driving , so they got away with it.

Gosh I hope not but I remember a few weeks back one of the new family members said to Harry that he was the image of his grandad and Nicola went ballistic saying Harry looked nothing like him. That might just be because she hates her dad due to the physical abuse. I hope so.

There are just too many tragically abused women on EE and if there is another incest SL after all the Kat business I think I’ll just stop watching.

I agree that another incest storyline is overkill.

Kat’s one went on for many years and they don’t need another one, especially as she really doesn’t get on with Rose. I can live with the fact she killed her dad off with Neds help , but if Harry is her dad’s son it would just be too much ;(
Maybe it will be something a bit different, but probably won’t be.

That sounds more than possible and the actors involved are more than capable of doing that story justice. I did wonder where Nicola’s hatred of her father came from (pretty sure it hasn’t been explained yet?).

I just thought Nicola hated her dad as he used to beat up her mum and so on.

It's not a Spoiler about Harry/Nic's Dad , I'm just throwing my hat into the cesspond and making wild guesses .

70s, I know !! I like a guess myself and to be honest I bet it is something along these lines as well. I just hope I am wrong !! ( I usually get it wrong lol )

Although on reflection, it's similar to the theory about Ned being Harry's dad - blackmail only works when the blackmailer has nothing or little to lose, so Ned could get in trouble if this theory is right.

Nic's hatred was explained by the fact her dad beat up Rose, and it was also hinted that on the night he died, he raped her (Rose, that is).

It could be a repeat of the Kat storyline but I hope not. I can't see why it would be Ned who knows about it. And surely she would have been married to Teddy and well away from her dad by the time Harry was conceived.

Tonight's episode was far too Hawkins-heavy. Why are they giving so much time to Jodie and Ryder, they are horrible characters and poor actors.

I am hoping it’s a real curve ball and they just offed the horrible dad together. She was complicit with Shireen’s death, so I can see them working together tbh.
Id rather that than another incest one. We really don’t need any more of that especially with the Amy / Craig thing going on atm as well

The Amy Craig thing really is horrible. And Suki was unnecessarily malicious to Ash.

There are too many unpleasant narky characters happening.

Maybe Ned tampered with the dad’s car brakes.
Or they followed him to the spooky woods and made it look like a tragic accident because he was drunk driving anyway.

I can see Jodie getting involved, but they were only kids when the dad died, so that is pretty much ruled out.

I really don’t think I can stomach another awful incest storyline though. Kats one was bad enough and ground breaking for EE back then , but if this is a similar one then it would be lazy writing and just for the viewing figures no doubt. Ned helping her to kill him off isn’t terrible. Although why he’d bring it up is anyone’s guess especially if he was involved himself.

I'm so confused about timelines in the Hawkins family. I thought that Nic said when she caught her Dad raping her mum, on the night he died, the younger two sisters were at swimming lessons, implying they were kids at the time. Was it really only meant to be 20 years ago? (I don't remember her saying it was, but I don't always pay full attention tbh 😂)

I thought Nicola’s dad when she was a child.
The Amy and Craig storyline is vile. He is already manipulative, making her feel unsure and confused. He’s a scumbag.
Denise is so good with Amy. It’s shit that she has sex with him. ☹️

I was wrong. I watched the clip. Nicola was moved out and dropped around to give Jodi her present.
Funny how the mother talks about him like he was a good man.

The swimming lesspn thing was something to do with her birthday when she was young, not the night of his death, I think.
