Pattern matching and adaptive with invisible zips!

Looking at the pattern for the adaptive shell top, I think the fabric choice will make it or break it.

What a shame her zips were upside down 😂 that’s the kind of think I would do!

Poor Sam is not really hitting it this week. I feel that he's a different type of sewist that would do well on the show. He's too cautious.

I know. I think that if he'd been in a few more rounds, he'd have flourished. But I guess he was the obvious choice. The made to measure wasn't really fitted, if you know what I mean. A kaftan kind of hangs rather than works with a figure.

It looked so well sewn, though.

The GOTW was absolutely lovely. Green is my favourite colour, so it had a head start with me.

What is the fabric Adele's dress is made from? Her own dress, not one of the makes.

I have seen it somewhere before, it's women paddling in a jungle style water? Love it.

I liked this week - both thos and last week have been really enjoyable. I think the right person left, they had a bit of a mare of a week. But otherwise there were some gorgeous clothes made. I.loved Beth's dress.

Do the producers pick just one source of patterns per series? There’s a sameness to the shapes in the made to measure challenge that I’m finding frustrating - once again there were too many clumsy and charmless outfits with huge flared skirts. In other series the patterns employed were … different.

Still, it was good to see the number of ‘winners’ widen out to more than just the three from last week.

Once again I spent half the programme trying to parse Esme’s outfit.

I am really enjoying the series so far. I think they are all pretty good at sewing (which makes a change!). First week I did not like Beth but she grew on me this week.

@unfamiliarwithyourwork - I think the contestants choose (or draft) their patterns for the Made To Measure. They probably choose something they feel they can complete in the time in the early weeks rather than trying to be particularly creative.

I understand what you mean about a kaftan just hanging but I want to say that I liked it and I didn't dislike the very dark green with the bright green at all. I'd have been pleased to wear it.

Not in a million years would I have worn that. Not even doing the gardening.

It was lovely - a big, green, well-made tent to hide in and feel swishy. Maybe you have the confidence which having a good figure gives to any woman. I don't have so hiding in a fairly loose-fitting garment is rather nice.

I've got a dress in the same stripe colours that Anna used. Thought her outfit was gorgeous.

Yes, I loved the contrast. I know that Patrick wasn't keen, but I thought that it really worked, like a bright clearing surrounded by shade. And it was so beautifully sewn.

It was the colours that I found awful and the drab green material. The back inverted pleat was good.

I'm a bit biased, because I always look amazing in that plain colour, and at my time of life, I love a garment with plenty of room that hides more than it shows. I think that it suffered because it wasn't fitted. It was almost a tactical error.

I think Sam was a gonna what ever he made. I liked his kaftan it was better sewn than some of the others.

The producers don't pick the MTM patterns.

I loved the bright green... I think if the other green was a more 'rich' colour, rather than 'bottom-of-a-pond-green-sludge' colour, it might have been nice.

Yes. They should judge on the sewing and not on the colours of the materials he chose.

i think Sam’s card was marked, Patrick commented how well his kaftan was sewn but he was never going to do enough.

Week 2 and already fast forwarded through the destroy something wearable to make something not challenge.

The colour combination was wrong though and colour was part of the brief.
