I think Rebecca probably paid the price for prioritising her interpretation of a brief over any potential "pandering"?

I dont understand your "pandering" comment.
I thought all the sewers were entirely true to the brief and and their own personal styles.
Beth's won on all fronts and was absolutely stunning. Anna's had some faults but the jacket was judged to be beautifully made and fitted. Rebecca's had more faults than Anna's (jacket collar, the jacket gaping at the front and the hem going up at the front and the hem of the dress.. But I was surprised that Emma didn't go given her dress was completely open at the back! But I dont see how "pandering"came into the judging

@KittyHigham I just meant in general I think she prioritised her personal tastes and style. Which is staying true to herself and admirable, but might have cost her.

I agree that she makes stuff that she would wear, but then so does Anna.

Oh the "platter of sandwiches for the judges" comment resonates with me SO much. I have done a bit of work as an extra on TV and movies and some productions are great, others treat the extras as cattle. Actors and crew get first dibs on the food, different food, eat when you want.

I was on a shoot for an EE ad about this time last year, it was a very early start and we had breakfast about 7am (provided), then rehearsed and filmed all morning, right through a normal lunchtime, there was a snack table set up with all sorts of crisps, chocolate and fruit but we were told that was for the CREW ONLY. 🙄Finally got "lunch" about 4pm when we were all starving. Other productiions are more reasonable but the talent - the judges, actors - are at the top of the pecking order and the contestants or extras are at the bottom.

That’s really interesting, thank you for sharing. Has she said what disability she has? It sounds like an exhausting day, and as she said, accommodations for disabled people often help everyone.

An American woman I follow ( and I follow few people as it’s a bit naff and I have a life!) upcycles stuff but she is a talented quilter and embroiderer so if she upcycles something she doesn’t make it look “ completely transformed “ she just makes it in to something similar but patched up, more beautiful and wearable.

2Rebecca this sounds great, would you mind sharing her name or her links?

I'll second this.

Binglebong · 06/09/2026 13:54

I've not seen anything on Rebecca's illness.

She suffers from chronic pain without an apparent cause. How awful for her not knowing what is causing it.

What is it like to live with chronic pain?

By Sean McAllister Chronic pain is typically classed as pain that lasts for over three months. But Zurich UK employee Rebecca Weare has suffered with it for far longer.

I think Anna and Beth both deserve to win, I would like them to be joint winners but don't think it will happen. I find Esme miserable and awkward as a presenter though appreciate she is an expert. I much prefer Patrick and Sophie. I'm pleased to see the return of the historical sections in the latter part of the series, they are really interesting, the woman who does them would make a good host instead of Esme. I'm not a fan of Jane Austen either, bloody Fanny Price, what a wet blanket.

Perfect, thank you!

I like Jane Austen but don’t really understand the adoration. Her books seem less complex than those of the Bronte sisters or George Eliot. I find dresses that flare below the bust very unflattering on me. I prefer a waist

EmiliaBassano · 08/09/2026 00:29

I get fed up of the repetition of the twee vintage songs. I like most of them but they use the same ones every year and worst of all, every kids' week it's "10 tiny fingers, 10 tiny toes". It really gets on my nerves.

They are not doing the vintage songs this year.

WonderfulSmith · 08/09/2026 20:39

Where is everyone?

MaterMoribund · 08/09/2026 20:39

Crossing my fingers that Beth’s frayed effect shorts work!

Autumngirl5 · 08/09/2026 20:43

The LBD dresses look interesting but worried for the shorts outfit.

MaterMoribund · 08/09/2026 20:54

Heather to go, but Anna’s skirt was hideous. Lost all the movement of the drape.

Autumngirl5 · 08/09/2026 20:54

I think Esme has her favourites which irritates me!

CrushingOnRubies · 08/09/2026 20:57

I wouldn’t wear any of those shirt dresses to a wedding! Glad Beth got garment of the week
