Ilford in east London to Fordwich near Canterbury is 62 odd miles away and would involve the M25 , the Dartford bridge or tunnel ( coming back ) its tolls and loads of traffic and country lanes. Yet they got back and forth in no time at all. You always get a queue at the tunnel coming back. It would take roughly hour and 18 minutes without any traffic according to the internet.
We all know this means more like two hours on a good day to get through east London!
Still , it was nice hearing rat trap

I don't know why they bring these quirky characters in and then panic because they don't know what to do with them apart from make then deranged, you know, cos they're a bit different. Same with Reiss. Could have been a bit of a comical character for light relief, but had to make him a murderer.

I thought Bea might be a good opportunity to explore how bullying in childhood might impact someone in adulthood, or maybe have a sensitive explored EUPD storyline, but Jesus, they massively fucked this characters journey. The soap lack character development and is too plot driven, but I guess that is soaps for you. It takes time to develop believeable well rounded characters well.

the80sweregreat · 07/07/2026 13:23

Some of the best baddies have been ones like Janine who was in it as a school girl and Micheal moon. Credible and with more than a two dimensional personality. Gray was a dangerous one. With Bea the writing was too off and disjointed.

Starandflowers · 07/07/2026 13:25

That is the quietest B&B ever. So no other guests happen to be around when all that was going on

Southeastdweller · 07/07/2026 13:34

I think it’s more to do with quality of writing and acting rather than time although time is part of it when there’s a lot of characters like there are now. I mentioned last week about Stella, who abused Ben and managed to manipulate Phil. Going back about six years before that, Steve Owen’s mum made a huge impact on me and she was only in three episodes and was wonderfully played by Sheila Hancock.

Joel is a good baddie. His also had his hair cut off ( picture in my tv mag, I didn’t recognize him )
Trouble is , you get Vicki and Ross too. I haven’t missed them at all.

Shellingbynight · 07/07/2026 14:02

I thought Reese worked quite well because he was such a slow burn, we got to know him and for a long time just seemed slightly off key. And the crimes he committed actually made sense in terms of his storyline. Bea’s storyline hasn’t even really gone anywhere, now it’s over it’s … 🤷‍♀️

Joel will have a field day when he finds out that Vicki shagged Zack and his dad still married her. At least we can look forward to some good acting from him though.

Just found a pic, 80s, wow!

EastEnders villain Joel looks unrecognisable as he returns to Albert Square

He's looking a lot different.

the80sweregreat · 07/07/2026 14:05

Joel has the skinhead look now!
Reiss wasn’t terrible. Even I thought he was ok at first.
Hated what he did to Bianca and his wife.

the80sweregreat · 07/07/2026 14:07

Oh god , yeah. Joel will discover that Vicki cheated and go mad. At least he can act it well.
Lots of angst with Vicki and Avani though :( not looking forwards to that.

Urgentbiscuitrequired · 07/07/2026 15:08

At least Reiss got killed off rather comically.

AntonNewcombesHat · 07/07/2026 15:23

Today’s episode was PAINFUL!!! Even the usually great actors (Linda, Phil) were acting like they were a school play. Awful & embarrassing to watch.

Best scenes ever. The bath falling on him tickles me every time I think about it 🤣

BitLippie · 07/07/2026 16:48

That was the stupidest, most nonsensical episode. The whole Bea storyline was pointless - there was just no need for it!

By the end, I found Bea so unbelievable and annoying, I just didn’t care about her back story or motivations. I felt the same way about awful, creepy Reece, but at least that storyline was more of a sophisticated slow burn and fairly well written.

Now Bea has cleared off, I suppose we’ll have more Gray and Joel as the resident evil. I could do with fewer psychotic, violent characters to be honest. It’s all a bit of a lazy way of creating dramatic moments.

BitLippie · 07/07/2026 16:49

Just read previous comments and you’ve all echoed what I thought! Great minds 🤣

the80sweregreat · 07/07/2026 17:17

I suppose it’s sad that Bea just wanted a friend.
( That’s me being nice 😊)
I did wonder why Honey would know the business account deets when she is only an employee ? Another mystery, but it’s done now and let the police deal with her. Hopefully those two people can enjoy the holiday they booked now!

Shelia Hancock is always brilliant.

Edited

Yes, why on earth would a shop assistant have access to Suki’s business account and rights to move around thousands of pounds?

As Kim would say - Do me a favour!

NowNumber5 · 07/07/2026 19:55

So we've moved on from The Goonies to Scooby Doo!

Those two holiday makers made me lol, it was our Jumpers reincarnated.

Phil's text 😂
Dad's been released
Mum was kidnapped
Now safe
👍

the80sweregreat · 07/07/2026 19:56

Phils text was ace ! 👍
I love how Will shrugged it off.

Meredusoleil · 07/07/2026 20:32

What I want to know is how did Bea get into the house (where even were they, Phil's house or the B&B?!?) to take Billy hostage when there was supposed to be police guarding the place outside?

And what was she actually holding against Billy's throat, as it didn't look like a knife?

Shellingbynight · 07/07/2026 20:33

The whole episode was ridiculous, and of course Honey wouldn't have access to the business account. The ending with Bea hanging onto Billy and then Honey suddenly becoming a Ninja ... laughable.

I liked the scenes with the teens. Unfortunately Will really can't act can he.

the80sweregreat · 07/07/2026 20:41

Will is struggling a bit with more lines.
Maybe he’ll go off to the model agency again and be written out of it.

EmeraldShamrock000 · 07/07/2026 21:03

Bea is a good actress. It was like a comedy sketch tonight in the country house. Billy actually got arrested. Oh it’s very far fetched.

Meredusoleil · 07/07/2026 21:03

Also, I was a bit disappointed with Denzil's behaviour joking about kidnapping Will. I was like wtaf?!? Thankfully Will has a sensible head on those shoulders and knew to walk away 👏

looked like the cork screw from a scout knife?
Surely she should be handcuffed to the back.
