Episodes 1 and 2 will air on Sunday, May 31 and Monday, June 1. The rest of the series continues next week on Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays.

The story follows two next-door neighbors in Manchester over the course of an escalating neighborhood dispute:
• Leo (Alan Cumming): A gay man who runs a bar on the famous Canal Street in Manchester's Gay Village.
• Clive (David Morrissey): An electrician with two teenage sons who harbors underlying prejudices.

The situation spirals out of control when Leo locks himself out of his house and has to ask his neighbor for a spare key.

This single event triggers a collision of worlds, unearthing mistrust and bigotry, which is further complicated when Leo strikes up a friendship with one of Clive's sons—who happens to be secretly gay.

The five-part drama will follow Leo and Clive who live next door to each other in Manchester. Leo runs a bar on Canal Street, while Clive is an electrician, with two teenage sons. But just as life should be settling down, the world around them is growing more tense.

According to the official synopsis, "Words become weapons, opinions become radicalised, and gradually, two neighbours become deadly enemies in a tense, suburban thriller which challenges everything we consider to be safe."

•	Alan Cumming as Leo
•	David Morrissey as Clive
•	Pooky Quesnel as Marie, Clive’s wife
•	Jackson Connor as George, Clive’s son
•	Joseph Evans as Saul, Clive’s son
•	Elizabeth Berrington as Stephanie, Leo’s best friend
•	Iz Hesketh as Zee
•	Shakeel Kimotho as Hanna
•	Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo as Judy
•	Paul Rhys as Melba
•	Charlie Condou as Curtis, Leo’s ex-husband
•	Denise Welch as Diane

Or did he ? Surely he didn’t lie for 6yrs about something he didn’t do

dapsnotplimsolls · 07/06/2026 21:51

Crap, what's he going to do in the house?

the80sweregreat · 07/06/2026 22:03

Oh dear! It just goes from bad to worse doesn’t it.

Wingedharpy · 07/06/2026 22:15

Something must have happened to Clive in his past to make him such an angry, bitter, humourless man.
The scene where he was having sex with his wife was, I think, the most unsexy sex scene I've ever seen.

PrincessScarlett · 07/06/2026 22:36

Clive is absolutely full of rage.

Agree the sex scene with Clive and his wife was the worst unsexy sex ever. Obviously that was the point though. What a miserable marriage they have. Although Marie seems just as bigoted as Clive so they probably deserve each other.

the80sweregreat · 07/06/2026 22:49

It’s sad they can’t cut their losses and move on separately, but sadly people can’t so easily these days.
He probably pretended to have that fling to make her move out and it didn’t work.

I bet his Dad was a real bastard.

fundamentallyauthentic · 07/06/2026 23:15

The music is too much in this - horribly intrusive.

SwedishEdith · 07/06/2026 23:22

But that Buzzcocks song was perfectly apt. Presumably, that was Clive when he was young singing it with his band near the start. Brilliant choice with those lyrics.

Yes, I agree. I was referring to the score, not any songs.

I bet his Dad was a real bastard.

I thought that too.
I imagine he was beaten regularly with the excuse of being "disciplined".
I wondered as well, if he'd been sexually assaulted/abused at some point as he seems to have lots of "issues" around sex - he seemed petrified that Denise Welch was going to expect some intimacy after dinner.
And, I also wondered if he was gay?

Fiftyandnotsonifty · 07/06/2026 23:54

Wow what a series that was, RTD does it again

TheWeeDonkeyFella · 08/06/2026 00:10

Poor Leo, his concern for George, despite his house breaking shenanigans, stopped him from phoning the police but will likely prove a bad decision.

I did laugh at the card Diane left for Clive though. Definitely a woman scorned there.

Sameoldsameold78 · 08/06/2026 00:13

Is there a spoilers thread as I’ve binged the series now

SB1967 · 08/06/2026 01:09

Amazing series.
Although I expect there will be strong opinions on the final episode.

MrsCarmelaSoprano · 08/06/2026 01:13

Omg it's brilliant! Will watch the last one tomorrow as I was nodding off as it's so late.

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/06/2026 03:49

Finally seen the end of e3

so I was right it was the son and not Clive doing the letting

so all this is down to George

seemed weird marie and Clive had sex considering what they are like

Clive looked sicken at the videos /chat of both sons - surely he had an idea about his eldest - he works in the bar for Gods sake

poor Leo. Doing no harm. Trying to help George and gets in the shit

due to the execution comment I don’t think Leo committed suicide now - tho as I said before many do off lampposts or trees as just jump/fall and obv no chair /coming back 😢

execution so maybe lynched by a mob due to whatever happens in e4

gripped By this. Glad it’s on the next two nights

def no spoilers please by those who have seen all 5. Thanks

What do you mean had about the eldest working in the bar? You’ve got that all wrong. Besides if you work in a “gay bar” that doesn’t make you gay 🤣🤣🤣 🤦🏻‍♀️

PrincessScarlett · 08/06/2026 10:03

Yeah Clive took his eldest to the gay bar to help him work on the electrics. I don't think he works there. Although he got on well with the staff so looked like he was hanging out there in last night's episode.

MrsCarmelaSoprano · 08/06/2026 10:41

Is there a thread for those of us who have watched all episodes?

Have to say this was excellent, on a level with Queer as Folk for sure.

123H · 08/06/2026 10:51

Absolutely gripping telly✔️✔️✔️ Thought provoking; relevant; intelligent. I’ve watched all the episodes … so won’t say any more.

the80sweregreat · 08/06/2026 10:51

Episode three was carefully interwoven wasn’t it.
Very well done.

VivienneDelacroix · 08/06/2026 11:05

I'm not sure if I find it gripping. I find it deeply upsetting and quite repelling, which is probably the opposite to gripping, but I want to see where RTD takes this for the next two episodes.

Leo is very like a lot of gay men his age - the holding court, over-exaggerating of stories, over the top sexual comments all being a part of the armour they had to build up in the 70s, 80s,90s.

I think in Stephanie's position, I would have gone home with Leo on the night at the end of Ep 3. He's in a very vulnerable position and surely all of his friends can see how much potential danger he is.

fundamentallyauthentic · 08/06/2026 11:37

I didn’t buy Marie’s moment of bigotry - it was overly convenient and (again) clunky. Also the scene where she explained to Clive why it’s hard for them to split up, financially. I was 🙄 when she said she couldn't afford a one bedroom flat - surely RTD knows that flats have been tumbling in value for years.

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/06/2026 11:38

I thought the eldest son worked there as he was on the work chat wanking

and Leo told him to go
