Episodes 1 and 2 will air on Sunday, May 31 and Monday, June 1. The rest of the series continues next week on Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays.

The story follows two next-door neighbors in Manchester over the course of an escalating neighborhood dispute:
• Leo (Alan Cumming): A gay man who runs a bar on the famous Canal Street in Manchester's Gay Village.
• Clive (David Morrissey): An electrician with two teenage sons who harbors underlying prejudices.

The situation spirals out of control when Leo locks himself out of his house and has to ask his neighbor for a spare key.

This single event triggers a collision of worlds, unearthing mistrust and bigotry, which is further complicated when Leo strikes up a friendship with one of Clive's sons—who happens to be secretly gay.

The five-part drama will follow Leo and Clive who live next door to each other in Manchester. Leo runs a bar on Canal Street, while Clive is an electrician, with two teenage sons. But just as life should be settling down, the world around them is growing more tense.

According to the official synopsis, "Words become weapons, opinions become radicalised, and gradually, two neighbours become deadly enemies in a tense, suburban thriller which challenges everything we consider to be safe."

•	Alan Cumming as Leo
•	David Morrissey as Clive
•	Pooky Quesnel as Marie, Clive’s wife
•	Jackson Connor as George, Clive’s son
•	Joseph Evans as Saul, Clive’s son
•	Elizabeth Berrington as Stephanie, Leo’s best friend
•	Iz Hesketh as Zee
•	Shakeel Kimotho as Hanna
•	Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo as Judy
•	Paul Rhys as Melba
•	Charlie Condou as Curtis, Leo’s ex-husband
•	Denise Welch as Diane

I'm sorry to hear that @Blondeshavemorefun
I watched 'live' and there were verbal and written warnings, maybe on catchup they didn't show?

@Blondeshavemorefun so sorry to hear that. I’m not sure if I want to watch this but I might give it a go because I trust you Blondes 💐

TheWeeDonkeyFella · 01/06/2026 08:54

I watched on plus one and heard warnings, but I think it was the longest pre-show content warning I've ever heard so didn't pick up on a specific scene warning.

Like other posters, I got a PSA vibe at times but I think Russell T Davies has form for that and hope it's just scene setting rather than the main theme. I thought it was ok overall and will watch again tonight.

Oh it’s def good. Tho the wanking scenes at the end was almost comical imo - will explain why when you’ve seen so don’t ruin it

@TheWeeDonkeyFella I agree the warning was very long! There was a specific warning about the first scene. Even so it was still a surprise because dramas don't normally start so full on.

I won't be watching tonight but I'll catch up later in the week.

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/06/2026 09:28

I can’t seem to find a recap

I'll look forward to that too as I started peering at my phone during that scene in case I saw something I really didn't want to! (remembering that lengthy pre-warning again!!) 👀 🤭

I was cringing at the clunky and slightly preachy dialogue but it was OK viewing. I’m hoping the writing for the Clive character will be three-dimensional - at the moment it isn’t.

The second episode is available.

Just remembering the gun whipped out of the boot of the car. Looked like something from Bugsy Malone. My DPsays it was an air rifle. So that's okay then!

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/06/2026 10:17

That was also funny

I recognized Judy

Just watched Ep 2. Kind of want to keep watching to find out how events unfold.
Warning - the first minute of Ep 2 contains the opening scene from Ep 1.

moto748e · 01/06/2026 14:27

I was put off this cos I feel like I've heard enough lately of Alan Cumming for several life-times. And I don't especially share the MN enthusiasm for DM either.

VivienneDelacroix · 01/06/2026 15:59

I'm only halfway through Ep1 - but having spent a lot of the late 90s in Soho and then lived just off Canal Street in Manchester in the early 2000s, I can understand why it is a bit PSA. R T Davies has said that he is constantly being called a paedophile on social media, and it really does feel like things have gone backwards in terms of acceptance. The bit where they said "they let us all come out..." really hit - the 90s was a time of acceptance and then we had marriage equality, but it almost seems like that was a false safety.

You can spot Russel T Davies dialogue a mile off, it’s always a very unnatural, lots of navel gazing monologues. I wish someone would get him a decent editor.
