Episodes 1 and 2 will air on Sunday, May 31 and Monday, June 1. The rest of the series continues next week on Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays.

The story follows two next-door neighbors in Manchester over the course of an escalating neighborhood dispute:
• Leo (Alan Cumming): A gay man who runs a bar on the famous Canal Street in Manchester's Gay Village.
• Clive (David Morrissey): An electrician with two teenage sons who harbors underlying prejudices.

The situation spirals out of control when Leo locks himself out of his house and has to ask his neighbor for a spare key.

This single event triggers a collision of worlds, unearthing mistrust and bigotry, which is further complicated when Leo strikes up a friendship with one of Clive's sons—who happens to be secretly gay.

The five-part drama will follow Leo and Clive who live next door to each other in Manchester. Leo runs a bar on Canal Street, while Clive is an electrician, with two teenage sons. But just as life should be settling down, the world around them is growing more tense.

According to the official synopsis, "Words become weapons, opinions become radicalised, and gradually, two neighbours become deadly enemies in a tense, suburban thriller which challenges everything we consider to be safe."

•	Alan Cumming as Leo
•	David Morrissey as Clive
•	Pooky Quesnel as Marie, Clive’s wife
•	Jackson Connor as George, Clive’s son
•	Joseph Evans as Saul, Clive’s son
•	Elizabeth Berrington as Stephanie, Leo’s best friend
•	Iz Hesketh as Zee
•	Shakeel Kimotho as Hanna
•	Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo as Judy
•	Paul Rhys as Melba
•	Charlie Condou as Curtis, Leo’s ex-husband
•	Denise Welch as Diane

You could see that David Morrissey could move then with that little dance scene.

daffodilandtulip · 02/06/2026 07:44

Surely he knows those texts wont go well. You could see he was trying not to help at first, by sending him to his mates, but felt he had no choice as son has no one. He just wanted to help. No one will see that though.

Wingedharpy · 02/06/2026 12:08

I wondered if the "murder" - not that we know it is murder yet - was done by Dad's loud and lairy football watching mates?
A bit of mob mentality, dressed up as supporting a "mate" who's concerned for his son.

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/06/2026 13:55

I’m still not convinced it’s murder and not suicide

tho equally Leo is happy so unlikely to take own life

but if DM read the texts and for example made out he was a peado etx - maybe he kills his self

Or perhaps it's not any of the main characters that kills Leo but some vigilante acting on Clive's vocal disgust about the text messages?

Although it was odd for the son to just be looking out the window rather non plussed at Leo hanging from a lamp post. That is not a normal reaction. I bet he never tells anyone he's gay.

Wingedharpy · 02/06/2026 14:47

I don't know if this is significant but I Googled "Flo", which the son had painted on his back at the start of last night's episode and, other than the obvious meanings, eg. Family Liason Officer!, it said:
Flo is a Neopronoun, sometimes used online in bio descriptions (flo/flos) as a set of gender neutral pronouns.
Make of that what you will - then, do come back and explain it to me! 😉

fundamentallyauthentic · 02/06/2026 15:03

Suicide is unlikely. Someone hanging themselves from such a high point? Has this ever happened before?

InFreeFall · 02/06/2026 15:22

I think it is really good, some great dialogue making for some challenging thoughts.

But Melba is fucking brilliant. Best character.

Oo, this feels plausible. Hanging someone like that would take a lot of strength. Pulling up a, presumably, kicking and struggling body would be more than the strength of one man, I think.

God, it's terrifying but very, very watchable.

parachutegirl · 02/06/2026 16:05

I’m torn - I love DM but can’t stand Alan Cumming 😂

I said about this. Seems weird he wasn’t bothered and carried on eating

Or the awful house share men Zee was being threatened by in the beginning?

Shadesofscarlett · 02/06/2026 19:31

i think murdered and hung up in public as a statement. i reckon he will be accused of grooming too. when he really was trying to help.

AniahJeremiah · 02/06/2026 23:18

Well If this show doesn't prove lgb were always pushing the t, what does!

moto748e · 03/06/2026 00:13

I’m not even watching this, I'm not quite sure why I'm following the thread! 😀It sounds like there's a hell of a lot going on, and I don't think it would be for me at the best of times.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 03/06/2026 06:34

oh i didnt like the ending off episode 1
why does everything have to have so much sex in it!
not sure i can go back to half man and hope this one improves!

TheWeeDonkeyFella · 01/06/2026 22:16

The dad is very strange and yet a little glimpse of fun when he did his mini disco dance in the bar and for a few seconds looked like a different man.

This is what I don't get . He's unpleasant all the time, not just to Leo , also to his wife and his sons , then out of nowhere he does this happy little dance ! What's going on?!

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/06/2026 09:51

He shouldn’t stay married. Thats half his issue

and maybe just maybe he is gay deep down but pretends isn’t and gets so horrified to hide his own sexness

Just watched the first episode. Love it so far. I'm a huge Russell T fan since the Queer as folk days. Going to see the It's a sin show next year 😊

I was wondering if DM did that off the cuff for a laugh, because he had a proper smile on his face, and they kept it in?

ooh, you might be onto something there. Have they said the caravan park affair definitely involved a woman?

Good point. I don't think they did and we just assumed 😯
