They are. One is a very successful athlete.

My apologies
I thought they were two boys.
However that is not the important point of the post.

Agree - I didn’t know anyone with toddlers in 2007 who left them unattended like that.

You obviously never went on a sunsail or make Warner holiday then?

I use to work kids clubs for these companies and it was pretty standard and a selling point of the holiday.

bsides · 24/05/2026 18:38

The twins dd not wake they even checked if they were alive and then moved them to another apartment so likely drugged
If maddy drugged also could have led to overdose

What?! I’d very very much doubt kids on holiday, active all day, would struggle to sleep, they’d be knackered. Also, just because they’re doctors it doesn’t mean they get heavy drugs easily, it’s really unlikely!
I think, because they had booked that restaurant all week at the same time, anyone in the hotel that was interested in finding things out would be able to orchestrate the stealing of a child. I suspect there was staff infiltration, no doubt money changing hands, to identify which parents were at dinner without their kids and which weren’t in the babysitter facility. It’s likely that their holiday mode of assumption of safeness was incorrect and it resulted in disaster

O decided to listen to some of the Johnny English and Austrian guy podcast.

oh my fucking god. I had to stop. He didn’t finish 1 sentence, made Trump look like a sensible communicator, and the reason he couldn’t finish a sentence is he went off more exits than that roundabout in Swindon has.

there is NO WAY I could get through nearly 3 hours of it.

i don't believe the parents are involved anyway it im always open to listening to viewpoints.

I could not listen to this though.

You were obviously listening to the wrong one as its James not Johnny 🤣

Good to remind everyone they are doctors, because as such they were trained in safeguarding. Had they seen a patient who disclosed leaving a child alone, they would have been required to refer to social care for neglect. They knew exactly how wrong it was. I'm not sure why you think they'd need 'heavy drugs'. Plenty of over the counter drugs available that would do the trick.

I used to be able to change my DCs nappy and strap them into their car seats without them waking up after a day at the beach at that age!

Empress13 · 24/05/2026 19:29

Tbh I’m on the fence with the McCanns and truth is we will probably never know what happened that night. What I do stand by is the way GM in all his interviews never once took blame for leaving his children unattended in a strange country especially 2 of which were babies . He has never once uttered the words “I really regret leaving them” so forgive me for thinking he isn’t the nicest of people

Oh yeah it was James 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣

got confused!!! James himself didn’t speak much and seemed quite sensible but the other guy was on a monologue

In the sense that I could see they were breathing the whole time, yes.

Kate noted that throwing herself against the walls or hitting the radiators was a visceral reaction to the situation. She explained that making herself feel physical pain was the only way she could temporarily escape or distract herself from the intense internal pain she was suffering.
: In the same sections of her book, she mentions other explosive releases of frustration, such as screaming, swearing, and kicking an extra bed brought into the apartment until its end smashed off.

People who feel the need to persecute them over and over, what are you getting out of it? Does it make you feel better about your own life?
Yes that's exactly why they do it

No. It’s because it’s a shocking miscarriage of justice. People are outraged and would like justice for the victim, Madeline. Even there was an abduction, first she was a victim of her parents severe neglect (at best).

I read the PJ files and recall that throughout all the commotion, footfall in the apartment and high emotions the twins didn’t wake up. They were carried to one of the neighbouring apartments and slept throughout.

I’d say the fire was worse because she smoked in the house/around her kids and didn’t ensure she had extinguished her cigarette before leaving her children.
The other thing is it was normal in previous times to leave your kids in a hotel room or a chalet /apartment and go to a different part of the hotel / site to watch/drink with staff or parents doing checks on kids . It happened to countless people myself included and rarely went wrong so wasn’t seen at the time as a dangerous or reckless behaviour. I’d assume the mccanns saw it as a similar situation . It’s one of many things you look back on and think wtf? Including hitting kids, smoking in communal spaces, leaving kids outside shops/pubs in a pram, no seatbelts in cars.

Times change and we learn from past experiences and do better.

I’ve not seen any suggestion she knowingly left it lit, yes she didn’t check. Awful. However the McCanns knowingly left the apartment unlocked. They knowingly left their children in an unlocked apartment after having little to do with them in the day so they could enjoy their holiday. There’s also questions about whether the window was open, or the blinds open etc. How often they really went to check on them….
It’s awful just as their story, without going into other theories / looking at evidence besides their story. They deserved a worse sentence than this woman in a similar case, but got away without any charges.

Doing the absolute basics of parenting, actually just not leaving your small children alone and unprotected, isn't something to brag about. It's the bare minimum.

Right? If I was making that much noise and the baby didn't wake up then I'd check they were alive too. Not because I'd drugged them, but because I'd be amazed they slept through it.

It was definitely recommended to me now than once around 2007 to medicate my DC to sleep BTW. I never did.

bsides · 25/05/2026 07:20

The question is why the government and multi nationals got so very heavily involved from day 1 . there must be a connection to a high level person or multi national company, The obvious choice would be a multinational drug company. If the Tapas 7 doctors were using a new sleeping drug as a trial at the same time Maddy died for some reason they would need to cover it up .

hatorgal · 25/05/2026 07:32

I'm in my 60s and it has never been the norm in my experience to be left alone. I was allowed to babysit my younger brother from when I was 14. I paid for babysitters at hotels and holiday camps for my own children. It's just something I could not entertain doing . They have paid the worst price for their foolishness - not knowing and having to imagine.

But everyone is well aware of this, including the two people who have spent the last almost 20 years having to live with imagining what their daughter’s last hours or days or months will have been like.

It doesn’t need to keep being resaid by people who seem to think that repeatedly expressing outrage makes them better people, or better parents.

I didn't say Portuguese police chief. The author of the blog is Peter MacLeod, retired former superintendent of Nottinghamshire police.

What was his take on things?

They ARE better parents. But it's not about a personal ego boost. It's about justice for the life of a small child.

Who was that? No one has been convicted of this crime.

And there's no actual evidence she was abducted. None.

And there's no actual evidence she was abducted. None.

Only the open shutter she couldn’t have opened herself, and the lack of any evidence she had left the premises of her own accord 🤷‍♀️

What ‘evidence of abduction’ do you expect to see in such cases? A dropped credit card? Footprints in the snow? A hostage video?
