@Mollypolly2610

I've cleared all my caches too which seemed to do the trick 🤞
Had to re-sign in to a couple of things but hope I haven't done anything too drastic.

Eta As I said above, there app seemed awful and lacked a lot of features.
Not sure what the benefits are of it.

Cookingdoesntgettougher · 11/05/2026 22:14

Just caught up, should have read here first and saved time. a poor day today. I’m not confident any of the six would have got through in other heats. They seemed to fail but most of the contestants in other heats seemed to have more ambition in what they tried. Even the egg yolk thing was just the yolk and Parmesan sauce.

Fransgran · 11/05/2026 20:30

Well done you. I'd have been screaming for my tech guy (son in law, very talented and very pissed off with me and my incompetence.)

Are you my mum? DH despairs

gingercat02 · 12/05/2026 08:08

Fernandino proper loved himself, he will be telling the whole of Naples it was them not him.
Loved the Bolton lass, have to love the Norn Iron lad cos wheaten bread. The rest a bit meh.
DS hates chocolate orange AND lemon meringue, he's an odd child.
WTF with the male judges

Halsall · 12/05/2026 08:19

I managed to watch last night when I got in, so a few post-programme thoughts….hmmm, not a stellar intake, this bunch, were they! Strutting Ferdinando and his Eye of Vesuvius (not to mention uncooked massive pasta) was one of the biggest letdowns in MC history, and that’s saying a lot. Can’t remember much about the young Irish guy except OK meat swimming in not-OK broth. And a comedy plumber who promised he’d washed his hands after delving about in toilets? Puhlease 🤮 At least the short-haired woman produced an acceptable two courses.

Most riveting of all, what the eff has happened to Simon Wood? Sparkly shirt, black nails, blusher, straggly old-rocker hair….hasn’t he heard that people are going for the groomed look nowadays? Even Strongman had trimmed the twirly edges of his moustache and confined himself to just the one jaunty neckerchief.

ROARED at Anna's ‘el dontay' and ‘Parper-deli' 😂

And this Nonna thing is getting seriously out of hand now.

I have concluded that I can never appear on Masterchef.
not because I cannot cook but because my grandmother died in 1971 and I never so much as met her let alone learned to cook her "signature dish"
ffs
its beyond parody on there at the moment

LaMarschallin · 12/05/2026 09:51

Three of my grandparents were dead before I was born as my mother was nearly 40 and my father was in his mid-50s when they had me.
My maternal grandmother was elderly (she'd had 7 children of which my mother was the 5th) and lived with my aunt and uncle. Certainly didn't cook much, if at all, by then.
I'm looking forward to baking/cooking with my DGC but I draw the line at dying just before they go on MC so they can squeeze out a tear and be told to "go on and make your Grandma proud".
Maybe if they got into the finals...?

Nah!

Eta And "Grandma" wouldn't hack it, would it?
"Your Nan" sounds cosier. Or it would have to be something not in English; "Mam-gu" for me, I suppose.

DP said that Simon looked like a member of Creme Brulee from the League of Gentlemen. He wasn't wrong.

Not quite caught up, but just placemarking to say:

How lovely is Dhruv?

Daniel reminds me of Brandon Flowers.

Hope to catch up to the thread in real time soon

ilovesooty · 11/05/2026 20:54

Perhaps they should just put Kirsty through.

Definitely 1 to stay rather than 1 to go

TheDogsMother · 11/05/2026 20:57

With the handlebar moustache. Yes.

Potters Potterings

Hi all. Did ya miss me?!

So for now I have skipped last weeks episodes (I will try to go back to them over the weekend - the wifi in the hospital was crap!) and these Potterings cover this weeks first episode.

Sean
Ooh rack of lamb, dangerous. Dont be baaing.
Lamb is a bit too pink for me. Just a little.

Ferdinando
Nonna!!!! Starting early.
Deep fried sandwich with a rake of cheese. Could go either way.
Its not pretty is it?! And looks like soggy bread. Oh according to Grace its not soggy. It's not getting him an apron though.

Andy
Irishman!!! Look how Anna was looking at him.
Seafood chowder and alcohol bread. Anna was raised on the bread - explains a lot!
Greatnonna!!! Double drink.
Needs more butter on the bread!!! I have seen better chowders.

Kirstie
Another nan!!! We be drunk!
Steak and a crostini. Interesting. Chicken liver pate. Wonder does that go well.
Steak looks a lil grey outside to me. Agree with Anna. Not enough cohesion.

Zenub
Dessert. Interesting. Doesnt sound that appealing to me ngl. Ice cream, this could also go very wrong.
Looks good but it just doesnt appeal. Ice cream looks a bit grainy.

Dehaja
Ooh her pud sounds nice now I think. Like passionfruit and salted caramel.
Tasty but basic looking.

Ferdinando - jesus apron in the first round. Didnt see that coming, but to be fair there werent many stand out dishes.
Sean - did expect that one.

Ooh i like the classic test. Wish i wasnt allergic to raspberries. Ouch Andy got lemon juice in the eye, poor bugger. I LOVE lemon curd. I cannot imagine rolling meringe. I have palpitatons rolling a regular pastry roulade. Soupy!!! Grace's face!! Only one I can call here is Andy will get through. Yay Kirstie.

Ooh the past contestants. Didnt tony use to have a poirot mustache? He looks different with a normal one!!

Sean
Classic starter. Love it myself.
Interesting risotto for main. Never tried smoked haddock. Thats over stocked to me. Anna how the fuck did you just say Al Dente
Oh, I would have kept the pudding whole rather than a crumb. And more of it on the plate.
That still looks very wet that risotto. Oh it looks mushy. Gack. Ouch Tony!!!!

Ferdinando
Your starter is what?! Although it sounds nice. If it works that is.
Tasty but simple mains. Id eat it.
Nonna is back!!
Very basic looking not gonna lie. Id be disappointed to see it on the plate and the sauce looks insipid.
Again very one colour. Haha Anna made a funny.
Well it is everyone elses to lose because after that he is going home. Nonna would be disappointed!!

Andy
Ooh that pork dish sounds lovely.....and then he mentioned the mushrooms!!!!!
Basic sounding pud, but could be tasty.
Thats a bit burnt! Sauce is a bit runny. Overall disappointing.
Very basic looking pudding. Dont see there being a surprise unless it tastes rank. That would be a surprise. Oh no, lack of orange. Oops. And yes, texturally one dimensional.
Still dont think its as bad as the previous chaps though.

Kirstie
Ooh yummy pasta dish. Hand cut, fair play.
Another chocolate mousse. And more raspberries. So its like a chocolate moussee/cheesecake mashup.
Another nanna!!!
Why is all the food one colour today!!! Still, looks better than the previous pasta.
That looks way better than the previous mousse.

So i still think Ferdinando has lost this round for sure. His was the worst for me.
Yup. Had to be.

I shall be back with you all tomorrow (although may be a couple mins late as I have a board meeting from 7to8)

PotterHead1985 · 13/05/2026 21:46

Potters Potterings on last weeks Masterchef

2nd episode

Antos
Polish nonna!!
Polish schnitzel and a lot of beetroot
Odd presentation. Oh no, dry tough pork. Flavourless sauce.

Gareth
Deconstructed fish taco of sorts.
Colourful. Well that went well.

Mukul
Did he say paneer kofta?!! I dont really like the sound of that tbh.
Again colourful.

Jeane
Ok i cant pronounce any of that bar the prawns but id give it a lash.
Dont give Anna ideas with that headpiece please!!
Pretty, although the plantain didnt look crisp to me.

Larissa
Stuffed goats cheese dumpling with chorizo in a broth....interesting. gah mushrooms
I personally prefer crispy dumplings (gyoza)

Finn
Vegetarian.......what kind though?!
Ooh pudding. Chocolate orange again.
Bit messy presentation there.

Gareth and Jeane, good choices.

Classic dish: oh christ. Egg yolk and ricotta raviolo. Thats fucking HARD. Poor buggers. This is more a challenge for the professionals.
Mukul is very positive. I like that. Overcooked egg. Poor bugger.
Larissa, runny egg yay. But everything else is a bit urgh.
Antos, runny egg also yay. More under seasoning.
Finn, runny egg, needs more ricotta, chewy pasta whoops.
Mukul and Antos, decent choices.

Ooh Druv and Natalie. Excellent. And Pookie.

Jeane
Prawn tartare, interesting, not cooked
Brazilian main. Cant pronounce again!!
Natalie!!! Off potato!!!
Did she get a job lot of the casava flour?! Also needs a sauce to me.

Mukul
Stuffed mushrooms!!! Gah
Mains again I am not 100% sure so i shall wait to see.
How many fingers has he butchered?!!!?
Main course...that looks starter size!!

Antos
Steak tartare. Again no cooking
Mains odd. Cabbage rolls with odd filling.
Them panicking at the eggs!!
This main does NOT appeal.

Gareth
A what? cauliflower and preserved lemon SOUP?!
The duck main sounds nice.
The pink cauliflower is cute and quirky. That is a LOT of lemon clearly!!
The duck skin does not look that crispy to me.

I feel like Gareths food was liked the least. So we shall see....I was right!!

I will try to watch the 3rd episode in a day or so because i need to go to bed as I am back to work tomorrow!!

I shall see ye at 8pm tomorrow. Yay.

Fransgran · 14/05/2026 14:11
