We're well into Spring 2026 now. CORONATION STREET THREAD. **No spoilers please.**

Can't believe we're on a new thread already. Filling up so fast these days!

Brief summary:

Todd has finally left the dreadful Theo, (after he badly beat up Todd,) but Theo is not keen on leaving him alone (although he has been told to by the police.)

Carla and Lisa (Swain) are planning on getting married very shortly.

Carl has been trying to extort money out of Summer for information, as he knows Theo killed Billy. (Summer knows this now too as Theo cornered her in the shop and told her as much, threatening to 'bury her too.') Summer is - very sensibly - not giving Carl a penny until Theo is arrested!

The ghastly Megan (Trainer) seems to have vanished, so Sam is relatively safe for now, but Sam has been having hallucinations and keeps seeing Will there - coming at him - when Will is nowhere near. Toyah, Leanne, and Eva have tricked Megan into meeting her (by sending a text from the burner phone Megan gave Will, and pretending to be Will...) Not sure what they're going to do when they meet her!

Ben Driscoll has just found out the man he knew as dad is not his bio father, and Jim McDonald is actually his father (so he is.)

The effervescent Debbie is declining a little bit more by the week, but is still in fighting spirit, and is seeing Carl for the parasite he really is. The gorgeous Ronnie is always by her side. Carl has just decided to cause a flood in Debbie's hotel by leaving the taps running in one of the rooms, after she told him he was very difficult to love, and refused to let him have half the hotel after he threatened to report Ronnie to the police for hitting him.

Shona's annoying sister Jodie is causing trouble all over the place! She's stolen Lisa's police badge, and a girl she uses to be a nanny for has turned up. Jodie is not happy about this!

Probably a bit more is happening, but I'm sure it will come up soon.

There were many times that we saw Todd looking exhausted and was coerced into having sex with Theo. He did abuse him sexually. He really did so much damage to that man ;(
I thought Eva was good with Mel , but she didn’t seem convinced that they didn’t know Meghan for ages.

Why didn't Shona question why her sister would have lit candles and worn her pj's and lain down in her bed?

And why is it all so complicated? I wish we didn't have so many stories at the same time. I am interested in who killed Theo. Less interested in who dropped a car on Carl. Not interested at all in why Jodie clobbered Sarah. And vaguely interested in what will happen to Megan, but not Ma Driscoll. Have I forgotten something?

Shona never asks the big questions. She didn’t seem to believe David at all. I’m not sure how she can’t see that Jodie is doing all this, but I suppose it’s easier for us as we know she’s dodgy!

I did think that the ones who play George and Christina didn’t seem that invested in it at all and it all seemed a bit hammy.
I also agree that there’s too much going on at once and it’s hard to remember who did what to whom.
Would Lisa be able to interview people she knows in real life ? I’m not sure how that wouid work or be fair, but i appreciate it’s only a soap and not real life.
( the police must have some guidelines for things like this , conflict of interest ? Maybe?)

I think Kit and Shona have forgotten that they spent the night together. (Please tell me I didn't imagine that).

To be fair they aren't new characters brought in together.

At least Steve and Andy didn't have matching names or Todd and Jason. I could just about deal with Todd and Theo.

DS Swain's interview technique is bizarre.

It is hard to work out if she is feigning ignorance or if she is completely confused

I laughed when Christina said "I'll get you Adam Barlow " and he replied "no, not him"

Mal has disappeared, but if he was around it wouid be Mal and Mel on the street. They like names that are similar these writers !

Well exactly.
This is why I don’t like Shona. She always sees the worst in David and never seems to trust him.

He looks petrified of her half the time and with her shouting “I’ll kill you’” at him I’m not surprised.

I've stopped watching. As @sorryIdidntmeanto said it is all too complicated and overheated, and I don't really care about any of it. And far too much of Swain, the world's dimmest police officer. I've been catching up on Classic instead.

She has never worked with David in the way that Tina and Kylie did.

I thought the scene with David explaining to Shona what happened was quite funny, There was a little smirk from Shona at the start obviously trying to keep a straight face.

I hope Christina is not deliberately putting George in the frame to get her off the hook (she does have past form) I thought they made a great couple.

I suppose you would have to know your partner inside out to know if it’s true or not. To be told that someone thought it was you , but it wasn’t at all , is hard to get your head around, but they are similar looking and he was wasted. I wonder if it was a ‘ aibu ‘ on here I bet many would be advising her to leave him as they wouldn’t believe him. Pull the other one sort of thing!
Plus Shona feels guilty about her past history , so more likely to give her the benefit of the doubt as well.

David was doing the classic soap thing of acting guilty even though he wasn't, expect more of this in the next few weeks.

Christina was doing it on George's behalf then we went from saying her Georgie would not hurt a fly to badmouthing him to Todd by the end of the episode.

I was on these threads for years but stopped watching a long time ago, I got back into it with the crossover episode.

We need detective haircut back on the street, whatever happened to her I wonder?

How would you explain away the Shona / Jodie dilemma though ! Most women wouldn’t believe him would they. Jodie is very attractive. I Hope Shona finds out the truth soon.
