Can't believe we're on a new thread already. Filling up so fast these days!

Brief summary:

Todd has finally left the dreadful Theo, (after he badly beat up Todd,) but Theo is not keen on leaving him alone (although he has been told to by the police.)

Carla and Lisa (Swain) are planning on getting married very shortly.

Carl has been trying to extort money out of Summer for information, as he knows Theo killed Billy. (Summer knows this now too as Theo cornered her in the shop and told her as much, threatening to 'bury her too.') Summer is - very sensibly - not giving Carl a penny until Theo is arrested!

The ghastly Megan (Trainer) seems to have vanished, so Sam is relatively safe for now, but Sam has been having hallucinations and keeps seeing Will there - coming at him - when Will is nowhere near. Toyah, Leanne, and Eva have tricked Megan into meeting her (by sending a text from the burner phone Megan gave Will, and pretending to be Will...) Not sure what they're going to do when they meet her!

Ben Driscoll has just found out the man he knew as dad is not his bio father, and Jim McDonald is actually his father (so he is.)

The effervescent Debbie is declining a little bit more by the week, but is still in fighting spirit, and is seeing Carl for the parasite he really is. The gorgeous Ronnie is always by her side. Carl has just decided to cause a flood in Debbie's hotel by leaving the taps running in one of the rooms, after she told him he was very difficult to love, and refused to let him have half the hotel after he threatened to report Ronnie to the police for hitting him.

Shona's annoying sister Jodie is causing trouble all over the place! She's stolen Lisa's police badge, and a girl she uses to be a nanny for has turned up. Jodie is not happy about this!

Probably a bit more is happening, but I'm sure it will come up soon. Smile

So much evil going on but I don't bother trying to work out who may be dead or a killer or anything else. While the whole lot of it is too far fetched in one little cobbled street I still have to watch every episode. I can't not 🙄

In Ena Sharples day the biggest crime was who stole a bottle of milk off the vestry step. 😱

bizzey · 29/04/2026 00:40

They did this groundhog day with the Joel reveal.

But , I have to say , that gripped me till at least the Wednesday!

I am going to have to overload on chocolate and ice cream !

Yep and that was extremely dull in the end

So bored of it
Im not sure I care who is dead ...

KeeleyJ · 29/04/2026 00:15

I'm honesty past caring with it all now, just get on with it!

We really need some spawn of Richard Hillman to come back and get rid of the dead wood.

Starting with Shaun!

Someone could intercept Ronnie and it could mean Carl gets taken to hospital and be fine. He’s obviously just bruised and broken, not dying as things stand.

I couldn’t help thinking Kev should have just left Carl and Theo rolling around in the street!

edited to add, the feet/legs in the garage looked quite slim/dainty. I wouldn’t have thought Ronnie, but obviously it could have been. Would most people know how to let a jack down nowadays?

Edited

Only master mechanic Abi

This!
Corrie has turned into a crime drama. Do we really need 2 detectives (and I use that term loosely) on the street. Craigy would have been more than adequate popping along to solve the odd petty crime.

I can’t believe Ronnie would suddenly become a murderer.

Cant care less about Jodie, Megan, Will, Ma Driscoll, they’ve brought nothing to the street. Ben can stay though.

Sue Devaney has been remarkable and ITV have made a huge mistake getting writing her out, She is old school Corrie and we need to get back to that.

So was Jenny

We lost her

Even worse, they trashed her character before she left

Starting with Shaun!

I would be happy to give long standing characters another go, give them some plots.

It is the temporary panto villains who need to go and not replaced by similar ones

why on earth would anyone buy 12 bottles of wine from a pub when there are shops around?

Maybe Dev's was shut?

Can’t see it being closed though and if you knocked on his door saying you had Carla’s credit card I’m sure he would have opened the shop especially for them

I thought Jenny was pretty pointless and not a great actress.

eggandonion · 29/04/2026 08:59

Jenny reminded me of my cousin. I thought she was a good landlady but wasn't a great villain. I quite liked Daisy giving people looks.
Isn't there a small supermarket that nobody ever goes to? Maybe Sainsbury?
Carla might have a loyalty card un the Rovers considering how much wine she enjoys there.

Soap characters do not have to be played by great actors, not many great actors would want to be in a soap. Most who are would be jobbing actors if they had not lucked out and got a character in their range, some play a fictionalised version of themselves.

I just want to see commitment to building those characters not having them as bystanders to a revolving cast of panto villains

Housewife2010 · 29/04/2026 09:12

Little Kev shouldn't have stopped the fight. A police car went past as soon as he'd broken it up. If he'd left them alone, Theo would have been picked up & locked up.

eggandonion · 29/04/2026 09:14

Uncle Ronnie might not be the best actor but he works brilliantly with Debbie. Sometimes the writing and plots are so dire it drags the acting down.
I'd quite like all the villains to kill each other. And kill Mal too.

the80sweregreat · 29/04/2026 09:23

Mal and Bernie , it seems that’s been forgotten about ?

I like him, he plays the cool tough guy well and there loads of opportunities for those roles, he could easily be a cop or a villain.

We have had too many 'hard guys' in Corrie who have frankly looked not very frightening - I am looking at you Damon.

Ronnie manages to do it but without losing his likeable edge

Shhhh!

Don't remind them

eggandonion · 29/04/2026 10:49

I even quite liked the Ed family yesterday. Although poor Glory has vanished.

I agree with this - I’d like more substance for the long standing characters (& bring back Jenny as she didn't want to leave!) & happy to see the mundane day to day but with the fun / daily life twists etc. I also liked it when they introduced characters in a small way before they had a big storyline. I’m hoping that’s what’s happening with Rafael (if that’s what he’s called - the guy in Debbie’s hotel who had a date with Todd).

Deadringer · 29/04/2026 11:30

Agree that Shaun was awful. All of this villian stuff is wasted on most Corrie fans, the best scenes in the last few months were ones featuring Debbie and the 'girls'.

dovesquare · 29/04/2026 11:59

This week hasn’t gripped me. Just wish they’d get on with it.

the80sweregreat · 29/04/2026 12:06

I’m a bit bored by all this and although it’s only a soap , would so many things go on all at once in one small area. Kevin jumped the gun on sending that text as well.
At least give it a day or two to make sure your out the country first!

eggandonion · 29/04/2026 12:08

Surely Kevin could have battered Carl a bit. He enjoys thumping people.

the80sweregreat · 29/04/2026 12:11

Carl has been a good baddie though.
Very believable. They do have some very good actors , but this ground hog day week has dragged.

the80sweregreat · 29/04/2026 12:13

They should have gone to the local Sainsbury’s with their nector cards for the wine.
I guess they just like spending Carla’s money though! Even if none of them ever seem to do much work there most of the time ! Lol
