Since when have texts messages been called
receipts

bizarre

Apparently it’s a social media phrase that comes from Whitney Houston of all people. I think that’s right.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 18/04/2026 08:12

pouletvous · 18/04/2026 08:09

scott and danny are clearly mates now

They’re fake mates aren’t they? As Scott won’t speak to Bec even to say hello.

Totally agree Bec is a nightmare when drunk but my opinion was purely on the ‘Joke’ she said to Rachel. Felt sorry for her because it wasn’t said nastily but Rachel made such a bloody drama of it both her and Stevo are such wet lettuces. She tried to apologise but then the mean girls saw it as an excuse to jump on her with their toxic behaviour. Btw can anybody explain what exactly she said?

Was it just finger banging or something else? This being Bec’s original “joke”.

I think it was blown up totally out of proportion, spiralled, Chinese whispers and everyone used it for their own ends, eg Gia recruiting Juliette to blindside Rachel. Bec has been silly though talking about selling merch on it. They all need to grow up ffs! They’re in their 30s, not the school
yard. Or is this how people their age behave these days? Gives Aussies a bad name too, my Aussie friend who’s my age 50 something watches this with her 21 year old DD and DH and they all live in Zurich. My friend can’t watch some of the arguments but her French Swiss DH and DD love it. They use it as an example of how not to behave for her DD!

Seriestwo · 18/04/2026 08:46

I don’t think they used to have their phones. They were supposed to be isolated from the outside world so they could give the ixperiment the best chance. So there weren’t text drama.

JellyBeanSpring25 · 18/04/2026 09:57

If Bec dislikes Gia so much, why is she messaging her?

Someone from the UK one explained that they are allow certain apps, like Boohoo and wherever else they get their stylish outfits from, but no social media. Obviously these lot are allowed the KFC app as well.

WildFlowerBees · 18/04/2026 10:04

I don’t think it’s just the editing but Bec comes across as one of those stalker types who makes up fantasy situations that don’t exist.

That's been used as a phrase for ages. It's not specific to text messages, though - it's literally - voice note, email, text, anything that proves that someone did/didn't do something bad. Based on the point that a receipt is proof of purchase

JellyBeanSpring25 · 18/04/2026 09:57

Cos she wants to be one of the “cool kids”

Piknik · 18/04/2026 11:12

Yeah receipt = proof. Applicable in many contexts

The thing about Bec is that her vile behaviour is so clearly driven my insecurity. No excuses but I think we'd see a very different Bec if Danny hadn't told her from the get go that there was no sexual chemistry and been clear that he's just not into her.

All her energy goes on pretending they are great at Commitment Ceremonies, dinner parties - even when they are alone in their apartment "We're great, aren't we?" and so on.

She is buckling under the weight of pretending to everyone (including herself) that she isn't hurt, rejected and embarrassed and it comes out as jealous spite. She would do SO MUCH BETTER to sit on the couch and tell the Ixperts, "Actually, I've fallen for Danny which is a bit embarrassing because I don't think he feels anything much for me and I don't know what to do with my feelings. Can you help me?"

She is equating Danny falling in love with her to her own self-worth. Am I not pretty enough for him to fall in love with? etc. So when it doesn't happen, the self-loathing is huge and she ends up sabotaging everything.

She's still a vile mess, but I feel sorry for her because it's so clear where it's come from.

RodJaneandBungle · 18/04/2026 11:28

Receipts is a long established word in the world of reality tv - if you watch any of the Real Housewives you’ll know! Which shows you how much MAFS has changed & how much Gia is trying to be a reality tv bad bitch. They all (mostly) think being a total bitch wins you respect & approval - but don’t realise that without any other redeeming qualities, they just come across as deliberately mean, unstable and really unlikeable. Temu Housewives!

I don't think she is: Gia refers to screenshots implying that someone else sent her screenshots showing what Bec was saying (allegedly)

TinselAngel · 18/04/2026 12:21

I drank some Makers Mark last night because you lot told me too, and woke up to find I’ve booked to go to a gig in London on my own in June.

omfg, I’m watching After and howling with laughter at the solemn conversation about finger banging. How can the presenters keep a straight face?

WallaceinAnderland · 18/04/2026 14:47

So it was Stevo all along that caused the hoo ha.

Rach told Alissa the details, Alissa told everyone else. Bec said to Steven 'Good to hear you got a finger in' and Steven said.... 'Who says it was just one finger' and they all laughed. Alissa said keep it PG and then Becsstood up and made her speech thinking Steven was happy joking about it too!

That changes everything. Steven would never have admitted that if he hadn't been caught on camera.

Mostly agree, though would add manipulative to the “vile mess”.

stayathomegardener · 18/04/2026 14:59

They must have some access to social media even if via screenshots from friends as Mel found out early on Luke’s family were slating her on facebook.

Woah! That changes everything! There must have been some heavy editing because surely they'd all be referring to Stevo having made that jokey remark, and why wasn't Rachel upset about Stevo making a joke of it (seems worse than Bec making a joke of it?). Wtf!
