It seems pretty good so far, Gilead through a Young Adult gaze.

Anyone watching ?

Could anyone find any kind of clue in Daisy’s name being Marguerite? I get the nickname but wondered why they dropped that in if it wasn’t relevant.

Also in the latest episode I think it was Rita (great to see Amanda Brugel pop up) who said Daisy is the same age as Agnes. So again, that doesn’t fit for Nichole. But the way Rita was looking at Daisy when she was being feisty made me think she knew where she’d come from.

Also interesting to see that the original plan for Daisy was to get her away to safety in Columbia, so June didn’t initially send her in to Gilead.

Wasn't commander weston the one Daisy was given info about before she went in who had a history of domestic violence?
Garth can't leave Gilead - Gilead residents can't leave, unless they are very powerful commanders for diplomatic reasons or pearl girls for missionary duties.

I thought they were shoeing him in as the commander in the book who poisoned his young wives when he tired of them, but he wasn’t matched with Agnes it was her friend.

That's Commander Judd. The one married to Agnes's friend whom they visited a couple of episodes ago and later lost the baby

The meaning of the name Marguerite is Pearl or Daisy so I’m guessing that .

Chocolatecoffeecup · 09/05/2026 07:57

Do you all listen to the Eyes on Screen podcast? They mentioned the meaning of the name then but not sure what else it would mean.

I know, that’s what I meant about the nickname.

I’m not sure Penny is a friend as such or just a very friendly wife. It’s confusing, the mismatch of book and tv plots.

I was using the term "friend" loosely I suppose. I was just trying to explain to PP it was commander Judd in the books who poisoned his wives and that he is married to someone else. I believe he was married to shunamite in the books but I wasn't referring to that. commander Weston was referred to in this episode in relation to domestic violence

That's right - someone in mayday said June had been waiting for a girl the right age so they are clearly making the plot about June getting Hannah out, nothing to do with Nicole.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 09/05/2026 11:37

I got the impression that Penny had been part of the friendship group when a Plum and had gone Green and married before them

Ah didn’t realise there was another thread

I said to DS that Daisy had been really fucking smart hiding the radio in someone else's bed. But also so cruel that Talia wont even get a trial. Poor girl must be terrified and she has no idea.

Yeah I looked at the time when I started it but couldn’t see the original thread I don’t think it had bumped back up at that point!

Chocolatecoffeecup · 09/05/2026 15:53

The radio thing is slightly odd because they jumped to a swift conclusion in assuming it was the other girl's when it's not that much of a stretch that the perpetrator wouldn't have put it in their own bed

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 13/05/2026 19:22

Great episode again! I think Daisy will be caught out, and I’m curious as to what she will do based on that ending

Really Really enjoying this.
Presumably Daisy gets Mayday to do away with the gropey dentist.
ETA
Has the penny dropped with Agnes that being married to a very powerful commander makes her a very powerful wife.
She was suddenly very brave, dissing Paula.

Yeah that surprised me, as she always calls her Mother even though it obviously pains her to do so!

I enjoyed today’s episode - it’s all hotting up now.

Crinkle77 · 13/05/2026 21:27

Gosh it seems that Agnes father isn't much of a believer. It was interesting when he said they've got to follow the science. Seems at odds with Gilead's religious zealotry. Also Commander Weston was at least kind to Agnes but not sure of I trust him. Can't wait to see what happens to the dentist. And slightly disappointed with Garth's dad's reveal.

Me too. I think it’s a great series.

Chocolatecoffeecup · 14/05/2026 08:02

I enjoyed the episode but I've enjoyed them all! I like the friendship developing between Agnes and Daisy. I really feel for Daisy who obviously didn't realise what she was signing up for. She didn't seem to get that she and Garth are in there until they bring down Gilead, at least theoretically, so if they want to place Daisy as a wife or handmaid or anything else, they will. I felt for Hulda too and hated Aunt V's reaction but I'm curious about what will happen as Daisy looked like she might do something hut also Agnes said something about not realising Aunt Lydia meant that he would be dealt with. The second ed was laughable. I couldn't gauge Agnes' fathers reaction but enjoyed her calling Paula "Paula" and she seemed to enjoy.

I really hope there is a reunion between Agnes and June at the end. It's easy to forget about that part of the story while Agnes is just in there but I enjoy seeing "the other side"

Chocolatecoffeecup · 15/05/2026 10:32

I follow one of the Facebook groups and a theory I saw is that Garth isn't truly Mayday. There were several points of evidence like the fact he doesn't know who June is but I thought it was interesting!

I have just been watching the new story unfold, I assumed they will put the Testaments story in the appropriate time point in a future series but it doesn't look like it's heading that way.

I don't follow. Do you mean the book? I'm not really referring to the book, just saying it would be nice for a reunion!
