And they have friends and family who are happy for them to go on such programmes! I know some people make a lot of money from these shows but surely the chances are very low so why on earth do they do it and why on earth do their loved ones support them to do it?

Juliette I'm really disappointed in. Joel has been portrayed as a prize knob (editing?) but to be so dismissive of him wasn't a good look. She seemed quite into him on the honeymoon. I do think Bec saying at the dinner party that Joel gives her the ick plays a part - you'd be looking at other people's reaction to your partner, wouldn't you.

I completely understand why juliette is being like this with Joel. I think she didn't want to reveal anything about herself to him on telly, or make an effort to further what I'm sure she sees as a fake relationship.

She got the big ick from a video she saw of him and completely changed the way she spoke to him.

It’s fine to be irritated by him, it’s fine to explain why his OTT behaviour is irritating her. But the rudeness is completely unnecessary.

Yes, she does need to be “nice”, or at least have some manners. She isn’t attracted to him, but that’s no reason to be so unpleasant and rude.

I think that wedding ceremony (that Juliette endured) was so embarrassing, I don't blame her at all.

I had an ex exactly like him.
The problem is they don’t really get how annoying they are but also it’s the inauthenticity. It’s impossible to actually get any sense of what matters to them truly.
You do just end up shutting them down because normal conversations end with excuses and cliched platitudes.
She’s being really rude but still none of it actually hurts him. He’s just a bit confused.
He’s not a bad bloke - just not really understanding about how other people work.

Talking of the US version does anybody know how to access the series in the UK? I might be missing something but I'm not sure I've ever watched that version not saw it advertised.

S1 in the UK was sn entirely different sort of series. It aired as a documentary and the couples didn't meet each other.
