Delighted that Gareth won.
They were all likeable and produced great looking food, but I warmed to him from the beginning,
I love the way he talks about his family.
I’ve really enjoyed this series, especially with the enchanting Caroline.

Ah well pox. It would seem that the Irish men's football team have about as much luck as the English men's football team when it comes to penalties.

Thoughts the morning after.

Gareth was a worthy winner but I feel sad for Luke. Not saying Gareth hasn't worked hard for opportunities in his life, or not had to overcome difficulties, but he seems on the whole to have had a golden life. Luke stepped up to being a Dad at 17 which is frankly very rare, you don't have to look far on Mumsnet or the wider world to find dud Dads of all classes. He's worked hard all his life quietly ploughing his furrow. Winning Masterchef would have been the most amazing validation of everything he's ever worked for and done so much for his confidence and perhaps sparked some bigger ambitions, a once in a lifetime achievement. Gareth will make the most of this opportunity as he said, and his star will continue to rise. Luke will return to his furrow and keep on ploughing, cheered on by his four lovely children.

Either could have won, I think at the end of the day it boiled down to which menu was preferred. But Gareth had the stance of a winner as he went in at the beginning, raring to go. He had winner written all over him. I hope Luke is proud of everything he achieved and has opened his eyes to new opportunities and builds on his success. Good luck Luke.

In the final who wins is governed by the best three plates of food, nothing else obviously.

As finalist all three will have great opportunities opened up for them. They need to make the most of their Masterchef victory. For me, all three were winners.

I might be wrong but I have a hunch that going third is an advantage.

I really thought this was correct, but then they were talking about the story and meaning. I wonder if a story or dedication of dishes would have made a difference to Luke’s chances.
