https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-15628823/Nadiya-Hussain-attack-BBC-cancelled-difficult-conversations.html

I think this woman needs her to realise her star has fallen like a lot of minor celebs. She has had a good run and everything has did was tired. New cookery blood should be allowed a chance.

I thinks it's undignified to start accusing her erstwhile employers of racism.

Nadiya Hussain launches another blistering attack on the BBC

Nadiya Hussain has launched another blistering attack on the BBC after previously claiming she'd been axed due to racism in the 'broken' TV industry.

I'I agree Nadiya had a good run of 10 years post-bake off. I'm not sure if any contestant has such a lucrative career after winning. Most fade in to obscurity. I liked her on Bake Off and was glad she won, but her dishes seem to be very high calorie/not particularly healthy so maybe that's why? Jamie Oliver focuses on the zeitgeist very well, even though he is a bit of a prat, plus he's a chef not an amateur baker.
I doubt it's anything to do with her being a woman - look at Nigella, Delia, Mary Berry et al. Could be her muslim background, but maybe not. It's her interpretation of it. There are many BAME presenters and newsreaders on the BBC so I am not sure of that tbh.
I did read she had some health issues, as she'd gone to work as a TA in a school and couldn't equate that with her fibromylagia I think it was, so she did go and get a regular job!

Its a good point that there might be some Muslim presenters and celebs but not with a hijab, why is that so difficult for the audience to view I wonder?

Also on the high calorie thing, Im not sure that is a barrier to her shows, or any chef actually, James Martin seems to be single handedly working through the EU butter mountain (one for the young uns there) and no one complains about that.

Nadia speaks up against the genocide in Gaza by the Israelis so the bbc had to silence her because you are not allowed to speak uo against genocidal apartheid Israel.
She's very personable in real life. Lovely warm character to meet.

The BBC is definitely biased against Israel, so that's BS for a start. Although I did unfollow her on insta due to this sort of BS.

Yes I thought that was an odd claim for the poster to make, the BBC is hugely anti Israel, so that doesnt make any sense at all.

They've been ' viewing her' for 10 years! I doubt they just realised.
There's a difference between adding butter to food and adding crisps, Wotsits, biscuits into cakes etc.

What utter bs.
A letter signed by over 100 bbc journalists demonstrates the grave concerns re: bias within the bbc towards genocidal apartheid Israel. Watch below for why a former bbc journalist had to resign over the level of bias in favour of genocidal Israel:

Journalists were being forced to do pro genocidal Israel reporting so yeah, anyone speaking up against the genocidal apartheid regime is going to be silenced. Including successful cake-makers.

BBC staff: we're forced to do pro-Israel PR

A devastating letter signed by over 100 BBC journalists underlines one of the great scandals of our age

Nadiya seemed really humble at the start, amazed to have won Bake Off. But she didn’t stay particularly humble for long. That isn’t a crime, just as her confidence grew it came with a bit of an attitude. However she claims to have been let go by the BBC because she is a Muslim, but her religion was what gave her the opportunity in the first place. The media at that time wanted the plaudits for bringing forth a Muslim baker. She was no better than others who have won but who have never been given the opportunities she had after the show, she was favoured precisely because she was someone from an unusual background for that genre of tv. Her cake she made for the Queen was an embarrassment. She was overpromoted.

Tick box tv was a thing then, and still is now. Look at shows like Pottery Throw Down or Sewing Bee - it isn’t about the best sewers as contestants, it’s who is the best older lady sewer, the best stay at home dad sewer, the best drag artist sewer. Pottery TD used to have a pottery transwomen as the technician, they were not British, I think from the Netherlands, and I am sure they could have found someone from Britain, but it seemed like they wanted a tick box person, in this case a transwomen.

Nadiya had a good run. She has a couple of million in the bank, noteriety. She could take the opportunity to do something for herself, create content that she has total control of. The BBC letting her go wasn’t racist, just as SCD letting Karen Hauer go on SCD isn’t ageist (which is also getting a lot of traction) but making room for new talent. Loads of people get moved on from jobs. If she wants to change things she should take control and do her own thing. Can’t feel too sorry for her, her season in the sun has gone, but her millions in the bank should give her a warm fuzzy feeling.

Totally agree with all this.

Edited

I wasnt talking about viewing her, I was saying there arent any other main presenters that I can think of wearing the hijab.

I love the idea of adding different ingredients to meals, Im very experimental. I love that about her

PinkpinkFrog · 13/03/2026 22:33

I was watching a couple of instagram and they are always going on about pre orders etc.
I do feel sorry for her, but she is so angry.
I love Nancy Birtwhistle, now with eco living so popular she deserves a tv show. I also watch and subscribe to Food with Chetna on YouTube.

Timeforaglassofwine · 14/03/2026 23:46

She is literally the only contestant I remember the name of and that I know has had a successful baking career, but she wasn't given fair shot because of racism - give me a break. I thought she was lovely btw.

saraclara · 14/03/2026 23:57

None of the other Bake Off winners has anything like the opportunities that she had. Ten years of TV series and a whole slew of books, and she's still complaining.

And when people said that she should be glad of the success she'd had, she turned that into something racist, too. When people simply meant that she'd had a really good run by TV standards. I bet any one of the many Bake Off winners but have been glad of even a proportion of her opportunities and success.

She's a glass half empty person, and whingy with it. I liked her initially, but she spent the last few years giving multiple whiney interviews.

When was Rick Stein's last show commissioned? I actually dont know as I like him a lot and dont think he is boring or dull

Again, he is a professional, highly trained, running restaurants etc.

Rick Stein’s programmes are also shown overseas e.g. Australia, so presumably make money that way too.

mids2019 · 15/03/2026 06:14

Ultimately she seems bitter and angry.

If she can't be a teaching assistant couldn't she work as a dinner last at a school involved in good prep rather than a pupil facing role (using her skill base).

In reality the teaching assistant job was perhaps taken on to show the world 'what the BBC has forced her to do'?

Good point, she could have used her talents in the kitchen.
I realise she wouldn't be cooking but even the interaction with kids at lunch, without being too close would have been a good move.

He tilted more into the travelogue style shows rather then just cookery. As others have pointed out he would be touring the local factory / dairy / farm where some prized regional food or wine is produced before using said ingredients in a dish. Often he would just let the local 5th generation expert make the dish for him and he just observed and tasted. It was all quite whimsy and easy viewing but clearly popular in thar aspirational 'I would like to vist that place in Italy or try and make that dish at home'.

PinkpinkFrog · 15/03/2026 13:47

She could also done YouTube and a baking cookery classes/school. Or even baked celebration cakes etc, with her celebrity name could have charged more. Or opened a bakery selling cakes like Cupcake Jemma.
Lots of opportunities.

Agree, but she had BBC staff running around in the background for her and got used to it.
Being successful takes a lot of work, which she seemingly isn't keen to do.

That's because they're actual chefs, with the skills and background outside just one area (baking). And they're not so reliant on TV.

Nadiyah basically just stood in front of a camera and cooked things. All the others have background businesses, and have kept their TV presence fresh by creating different kinds of programmes with different focuses.

Summercocktailsgalore · 15/03/2026 21:40

She was not impartial.

She is now complaining, which would put future contracts in jeopardy. Nor did she sign a lifelong contract to the BBC.

She can open a bakery, sell mass produced items to supermarkets, write books with no support from BBC, teach cookery classes. Open a restaurant, work in it every day. Like many chefs and bakers do. Lots of opportunities.

Quite!
It's like the Strictly dancers, some have diversified, have teaching schools, presenting jobs etc whilst some just do the tour and the tv show and go on holiday in between.

It's all choices.

RainbowBagels · 16/03/2026 06:38

Agree. It can hardly be a shock that people entering precarious industries will be precariously employed. The Strictly dancers and all presenters are employed job to job. Part of it I think is the press ( especially the DM)love stories slagging off the BBC and will pay for them.

Why are people assuming it has anything to do with what she wears? Anything to do with audiences finding that difficult to view?

Maybe she just became a difficult little prima donna to work with and that and falling viewing figures finished off her TV career.

Very few women in this country, as a proportion of the population, wear a hijab. Why are people surprised when very few TV presenters wear a hijab?
