new 6 part series stars Eve Myles (https://www.goodhousekeeping.com/uk/lifestyle/a65948077/best-eve-myles-dramas/) (Keeping Faith) as gutsy Detective Annie Cassidy, who's investigating the mysterious disappearance of Bristol woman, Sarah.

And the chilling twist is that Detective Cassidy’s main suspect is Sarah’s husband, Headmaster Michael Polly, who's played by none other than Sherwood's David Morrissey. Genius casting indeed!

Gone is a chilling mystery focusing on local Headmaster Michael Polly, played by David Morrissey (The Long Shadow, Sherwood), who becomes the prime suspect in his wife Sarah’s disappearance.

An upstanding member of the community, Michael Polly is inscrutable and likes order and precision in his working life.

Until, that is, he encounters super bright, gutsy Detective Annie Cassidy, played by Eve Myles (The Crow Girl, Hijack) and a compulsive game of cat and mouse begins as she chips away at his veneer in search of the truth.

Beneath the surface of the mystery, lies a deeper exploration of trauma, trust and the legacy of elite institutions.

The series also stars Jennifer Macbeth, Arthur Hughes, Nicholas Nunn, Elliot Cowan, Billy Barratt, Rupert Evans, Jodie McNee, Oscar Batterham and Clare Higgins.

“As brilliant as Keeping Faith”: 9 of the best Eve Myles dramas to watch now on ITV, the BBC, Netflix and more

Her father has a personality very like her husband

SydneyCarton · 09/03/2026 21:41

They’re dragging out this ID thing so long I’m beginning to think it’s not going to be her 🙄

Wish I could fast forward the whole thing!

Thing If he did report her missing police wouldn’t do anything for 24hrs as an adult

maybe she has ‘run away’ had time to think previously so hasn’t too worried she left

This isn’t the case. Police don’t wait 24 hours, they assess each missing person report as soon as they know about it.

I see Claire Goose is planning Rugby Boy’s mum so I guess he/his family will become more significant

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/03/2026 21:56

Oh he does act upset

I wonder who he is

OneNewEagle · 09/03/2026 22:19

It’s set 2026 by the journal the school calendar thing and their ages. So it’s supposed to be now.

it is not that good so far, seems a bit predictable.

Deputy head stored as Claire s for example.

I thought it was the deputy head?

JaneJeffer · 09/03/2026 22:24

I find that because it’s moving so slowly I’m not really concentrating properly and missing things.

I think they could have done a speedier four part instead of dragging it out to six episodes.

I agree. I didn't recognise the man's (Claire's) voice as the Deputy Head for example. So it looks like she may have been having an affair afterall?

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/03/2026 22:33

Yes looks like she may had been playing around and maybe has done before and why he is hardened

Why was he ringing her if he knows she’s dead? I’m so confused now.

PrincessScarlett · 09/03/2026 22:54

Well Paul certainly doesn't like Michael does he. Both tonight and last night all the side eyes from Paul. I think it might be more than just about Alanna.

I found it intriguing how much control Michael has over the rugby boys. The parents all wanted to take their kids home saying they are not safe and then Michael pops up and the boys obedient get on the coach.

Netcurtainnelly · 09/03/2026 23:06

The sounds awful
Load of mumbling. Very depressing.

The policewoman phoned him from her personal phone and he was returning the call to that number. He wasn’t ringing the dead woman’s phone.

Also, the bloke who turns out to be Claire S on the phone isn’t the deputy head. He’s just a parent.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 10/03/2026 06:08

Enjoyed that
David Morrissey definitely an odd character

I think that comment was referring to when Michael calls Sarah's mobile from his office at school and leaves a voicemail saying something like I hope it's not the same thing again.

Yes that was wierd

but I don’t think he killed her. I think that’s the whole twist and plot of the story.

Re the whole "I hope we're not going through this again" message that Michael left on Sarah's voicemail, you'd think if she had a history of disappearing (either due to mental health episodes or seeing someone else) that Alana would have picked up on it given that they all live and work together, and mentioned it to the police.

Deputy Head Guy is such a little creep and I hate the cardigan-under-suit-jacket look he wears like it's 1956. Quite like Michael's waistcoat though - DM is in good shape. And why are so many parents picking their teenage kids up (most of the schools RL pupils are boarders)?
