new 6 part series stars Eve Myles (https://www.goodhousekeeping.com/uk/lifestyle/a65948077/best-eve-myles-dramas/) (Keeping Faith) as gutsy Detective Annie Cassidy, who's investigating the mysterious disappearance of Bristol woman, Sarah.

And the chilling twist is that Detective Cassidy’s main suspect is Sarah’s husband, Headmaster Michael Polly, who's played by none other than Sherwood's David Morrissey. Genius casting indeed!

Gone is a chilling mystery focusing on local Headmaster Michael Polly, played by David Morrissey (The Long Shadow, Sherwood), who becomes the prime suspect in his wife Sarah’s disappearance.

An upstanding member of the community, Michael Polly is inscrutable and likes order and precision in his working life.

Until, that is, he encounters super bright, gutsy Detective Annie Cassidy, played by Eve Myles (The Crow Girl, Hijack) and a compulsive game of cat and mouse begins as she chips away at his veneer in search of the truth.

Beneath the surface of the mystery, lies a deeper exploration of trauma, trust and the legacy of elite institutions.

The series also stars Jennifer Macbeth, Arthur Hughes, Nicholas Nunn, Elliot Cowan, Billy Barratt, Rupert Evans, Jodie McNee, Oscar Batterham and Clare Higgins.

“As brilliant as Keeping Faith”: 9 of the best Eve Myles dramas to watch now on ITV, the BBC, Netflix and more

From playing a manipulative boss to a royal dresser, these Eve Myles dramas prove why she's the queen of the screen.

I’m finding this very slow paced and not engaging. Hopefully it will pick up in future episodes.

dapsnotplimsolls · 08/03/2026 21:52

I've finally recognised the daughter - she was in the first series of Clique.

friendlycat · 08/03/2026 21:53

I too am finding this slow and am not that engaged with it. It needs to improve and pick up pace significantly for me to continue.

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/03/2026 21:55

Slow ? I’m loving it

tho can’t work out if he did it and being calm as knows he killed his wife

or that he didn’t and just is a good God who likes his school /work

to be more concerned about his pupils exams then going onto tv to say help me find my missing wife

Im Saying he didn’t do it as seems too obvious that he did 😂

He’s getting on my nerves

I’m loving it too. DM seems menacing and it’s v mysterious.

dapsnotplimsolls · 08/03/2026 21:57

We don't know how he responded when she asked him why he didn't report it sooner. What's going on with him and that lad? He seems to be picking on him.

PrincessScarlett · 08/03/2026 22:02

I reckon Melody and her dog are relevant. Odd they keep referring to her not being allowed to walk the dog until 4:30.

I need to watch that bit again - who is she?

DM is certainly menacing. He's such a versatile actor.

Yes. I found that strange too.

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/03/2026 22:05

yes the 430 meant I thought that school bad finished so she could walk the dog near /around the grounds

OP posts:
dapsnotplimsolls · 08/03/2026 22:06

Ooh, I wasn't expecting a body yet. Unless it's not her.

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/03/2026 22:06

Knowing she walked the dog at 430 means he /the killer knew she /the dog would find the body

Early on Michael had an interaction with her that was quite frosty. She asked if it was ok for her to walk her dog and he replied as it was after 4:30 it was fine. Implied there has been some sort of argument between them over her wandering around the school grounds.

Then she keeps looking in the gates at Michael's house. Now she's found a body.

I kept wondering, is that really Bristol? Chucking in a few shots of Clifton Suspension Bridge doesn't prove much! I'm not much of a fan of DM, but love Eve Myles. I wonder of the lad dumped from the rugby team will be a plot point?

Does the cello player have anything to do with it?

dapsnotplimsolls · 08/03/2026 22:19

There seems to be something going on between the daughter and the younger fellow in the staff room. I swear he was in the second series of Clique!

I have house envy.

RedRiverShore6 · 08/03/2026 22:26

I have watched the lot🤐 and I was glad to see a big house.

moto748e · 08/03/2026 22:38

I don't think that was smoke coming off the cello, as the recap suggested, just rosin.

the80sweregreat · 08/03/2026 22:49

DM always plays menacing and cold characters.
This is a misery fest, but I too have home envy !! That house is beautiful.
