new 6 part series stars Eve Myles (https://www.goodhousekeeping.com/uk/lifestyle/a65948077/best-eve-myles-dramas/) (Keeping Faith) as gutsy Detective Annie Cassidy, who's investigating the mysterious disappearance of Bristol woman, Sarah.

And the chilling twist is that Detective Cassidy’s main suspect is Sarah’s husband, Headmaster Michael Polly, who's played by none other than Sherwood's David Morrissey. Genius casting indeed!

Gone is a chilling mystery focusing on local Headmaster Michael Polly, played by David Morrissey (The Long Shadow, Sherwood), who becomes the prime suspect in his wife Sarah’s disappearance.

An upstanding member of the community, Michael Polly is inscrutable and likes order and precision in his working life.

Until, that is, he encounters super bright, gutsy Detective Annie Cassidy, played by Eve Myles (The Crow Girl, Hijack) and a compulsive game of cat and mouse begins as she chips away at his veneer in search of the truth.

Beneath the surface of the mystery, lies a deeper exploration of trauma, trust and the legacy of elite institutions.

The series also stars Jennifer Macbeth, Arthur Hughes, Nicholas Nunn, Elliot Cowan, Billy Barratt, Rupert Evans, Jodie McNee, Oscar Batterham and Clare Higgins.

“As brilliant as Keeping Faith”: 9 of the best Eve Myles dramas to watch now on ITV, the BBC, Netflix and more

I can't figure out why Annie is allowing Craig to treat her so badly . Maybe she'll end up with Michael .

The cold case could be connected in some way to Sarah's murder or why else would they be showing Annie's visits to the family.

To show why she's so invested in finding the killer? To show why she's willing to break rules in order to solve the case?

I didn’t reliese that Craig was a copper till he arrested him

I'd completely forgotten, but remembered afterwards it was mentioned.

LindorDoubleChoc · 18/03/2026 11:36

@purpleme12 - I think she is editing the recordings. I posted again yesterday at 22:38 having watched the episode again.

moto748e · 18/03/2026 12:47

It did look like she was editing them, BBC-style, but to what purpose, if she was? It wouldn't be admissible in court.

It’s very odd behaviour from an experienced detective.

Netcurtainnelly · 18/03/2026 16:14

Its the daughter 😆 nothing to base this on as I haven't seen the ending.

Very drab, never any music on in the houses or TV.

Needs someone to crack a bloody joke and laugh. So serious all the time.

dontcallmelen · 18/03/2026 16:21

Agree @Netcurtainnelly do find some of these crime programmes really lacking in any lightness I know they aren’t a comedy show tis a bit dull & grey without any flashes of humour at all.

Well I'm really enjoying this.

Felt sorry for Michael when Craig attacked him.

I don't think it's Michael but I think the other men are fair game!

Paul gives me the creeps & seems to be controlling.

Maybe she told him to stay away from Alanna?

Deputy head-wants Michael locked up so he can be head?

Is murder a bit extreme for that?

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/03/2026 08:46

No I don’t think that’s too extreme

it’s all about the good name of the school

I think she was just listening to them to understand his psychology.

diddl · 21/03/2026 09:03

There was also something when Michael was told he was being suspended.

He said something like "all of that trouble before covid/parents complaining/doesn't just go away by itself"

So sounds as if he got Rory out of some trouble.

Although I'm not sure how that would equate to Rory killing Sarah.

Or it's none of the men & was Steven's wife?

Was she transcribing them?

They wouldn't be admissible anyway would they?

No, that’s why I think she’s just using them to try to understand him not anything dodgy.

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/03/2026 12:11

Well it’s good as in none of us know who killed her

Exactly.

I also thought about the son Dylan(?)

So just about everyone then😂

ErrolTheDragon · 21/03/2026 13:18

Lots of controlling/angry/odd blokes to choose from.

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/03/2026 14:05

Might be a woman

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/03/2026 14:06

Claire goose. As well known an wife of th bloke sarah was seeing

OP posts:
SydneyCarton · 22/03/2026 15:38

Claire Goose does feel underused so far for a relatively well known actress and she would have a motive. I doubt it’s Paul’s first time straying off the marital path but maybe this time he was serious about leaving and she took action. I’m sure I read a review saying the series focused on men’s needs and wants and then had a twist, or something along those lines, so it could be her.

Also assume that the cold case will be wrapped up but I don’t feel very invested in that as we haven’t had much detail.

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/03/2026 16:40

E5 tonight. I’ve seen as at work but saying nothing till 10

The deputy head guy and the female teacher are dodgy as fuck. The way he kept looking at Dylan, something is not right there.

JenniferBooth · 22/03/2026 21:16

I dont have kids so i dont know but the school scenes...........do they depict what these academy schools are really like.

AlwaysRightISwear · 22/03/2026 21:20

Its not an academy, it's private.
