new 6 part series stars Eve Myles (https://www.goodhousekeeping.com/uk/lifestyle/a65948077/best-eve-myles-dramas/) (Keeping Faith) as gutsy Detective Annie Cassidy, who's investigating the mysterious disappearance of Bristol woman, Sarah.

And the chilling twist is that Detective Cassidy’s main suspect is Sarah’s husband, Headmaster Michael Polly, who's played by none other than Sherwood's David Morrissey. Genius casting indeed!

Gone is a chilling mystery focusing on local Headmaster Michael Polly, played by David Morrissey (The Long Shadow, Sherwood), who becomes the prime suspect in his wife Sarah’s disappearance.

An upstanding member of the community, Michael Polly is inscrutable and likes order and precision in his working life.

Until, that is, he encounters super bright, gutsy Detective Annie Cassidy, played by Eve Myles (The Crow Girl, Hijack) and a compulsive game of cat and mouse begins as she chips away at his veneer in search of the truth.

Beneath the surface of the mystery, lies a deeper exploration of trauma, trust and the legacy of elite institutions.

The series also stars Jennifer Macbeth, Arthur Hughes, Nicholas Nunn, Elliot Cowan, Billy Barratt, Rupert Evans, Jodie McNee, Oscar Batterham and Clare Higgins.

“As brilliant as Keeping Faith”: 9 of the best Eve Myles dramas to watch now on ITV, the BBC, Netflix and more

From playing a manipulative boss to a royal dresser, these Eve Myles dramas prove why she's the queen of the screen.

Annie deserves better

I almost see her getting together with Michael 💓

Me too!

Craig is awful, but Sedgwick is such a sleazeball too. I don't trust pasty-faced Paul either. Or Alana!

None of the men are decent!

Yep! I think they are all dodgy.

I’ve not seen any of the listed things with Eve Moyles in, and yet she is very familiar and it’s driving me mad.

Agree with pp that it’s rugby boy … or he knows something at least.

Ironic if so, as he seems to be the only half-decent character in it!

Torchwood? Keeping Faith?

This increasingly feels as if it’s been written by someone who has never been in a school, or a police station.

IDK…DH went to a cathedral school and seems to think it’s quite realistic and Michael’s behaviour isn’t particularly odd for a headmaster.Confused

I’m having the same thing with Emma Appleton. I’m sure I saw her in something else but I haven’t watched any of the things that come up Confused

Ohhh I’ve found it! It was a Netflix one at the end of last year called The Guest and also that weird one in Scotland called Coldwater, that I didn’t finish. I can sleep at night now 🤣

Wow, Craig turned nasty very quickly - somewhat predictably.

I'd have to watch again but I thought Annie was editing what she had recorded? When she was playing it back to herself she had him saying something like "I did something wrong and I was ashamed" when talking about the murder, whereas he'd actually said that later in the conversation and not about the murder at all? Like I say, I'd have to watch it again.

Did make me have a little smile when he told her he knew she was recording all along. It's true we do only see the human side of him when he's with her.

I suspect the chair of Governors - she's a wrong 'un!

So they sent an email out to all the parents saying Michael isn't going to be there temporarily before they actually told him

Good move that!

purpleme12 · 17/03/2026 17:58

SydneyCarton · 15/03/2026 21:19

Ooh that’s a good point. Would they not do any other DNA or dental record tests I wonder, if they had the husband’s word that it was her?

I can't see why they would if they can see who it is and the husband

butterpuffed · 17/03/2026 18:49

I can't figure out why Annie is allowing Craig to treat her so badly . Maybe she'll end up with Michael .

The cold case could be connected in some way to Sarah's murder or why else would they be showing Annie's visits to the family.

moto748e · 17/03/2026 18:52

I can't figure out why Annie is allowing Craig to treat her so badly .

I did think that when Annie was 'confiding' her regrets about Craig to Michael, it was more a ploy to get him to open up,

dontcallmelen · 17/03/2026 19:44

That Craig is such a wrong un yy why show the cold case if it’s not connected with Sarah’s murder unless it’s a bit of a red herring combined with dodgy rugby boys dad /the mum / Michael / Alana plus all the school staff we are spoilt for choice with umpteen suspects at the moment.

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/03/2026 20:01

I didn’t reliese that Craig was a copper till he arrested him

Yes it was brutal what Sarah had written. Although when Alanna was burning the pages I saw Sarah has written and underlined "I'm scared of him". Was she talking about Michael or Steven?

Michael

It said 'even I'm scared of him never mind the students'

LindorDoubleChoc · 17/03/2026 22:38

I watched episode 4 again tonight (DH wanted to see it, he wasn't with me when I watched it yesterday). As I thought - Annie has edited the recordings from her phone. Michael Polly was saying he was angry and ashamed about the way he treated Dylan Sedgwick. But Annie has edited that to make it sound like he was talking about Sarah/the marriage.

purpleme12 · 17/03/2026 23:35

Wow I was not expecting Craig to be controlling

And I was not expecting that ending!
