new 6 part series stars Eve Myles (https://www.goodhousekeeping.com/uk/lifestyle/a65948077/best-eve-myles-dramas/) (Keeping Faith) as gutsy Detective Annie Cassidy, who's investigating the mysterious disappearance of Bristol woman, Sarah.

And the chilling twist is that Detective Cassidy’s main suspect is Sarah’s husband, Headmaster Michael Polly, who's played by none other than Sherwood's David Morrissey. Genius casting indeed!

Gone is a chilling mystery focusing on local Headmaster Michael Polly, played by David Morrissey (The Long Shadow, Sherwood), who becomes the prime suspect in his wife Sarah’s disappearance.

An upstanding member of the community, Michael Polly is inscrutable and likes order and precision in his working life.

Until, that is, he encounters super bright, gutsy Detective Annie Cassidy, played by Eve Myles (The Crow Girl, Hijack) and a compulsive game of cat and mouse begins as she chips away at his veneer in search of the truth.

Beneath the surface of the mystery, lies a deeper exploration of trauma, trust and the legacy of elite institutions.

The series also stars Jennifer Macbeth, Arthur Hughes, Nicholas Nunn, Elliot Cowan, Billy Barratt, Rupert Evans, Jodie McNee, Oscar Batterham and Clare Higgins.

Craig still a bastard I see.

SydneyCarton · 16/03/2026 21:43

I was thinking the same thing, unless she cautions him the recording is inadmissible. Unless she’s trying to get him to say something that he can be arrested for, then he can be formally questioned about it.

“The divorce came out of nowhere” 🙄

TickTockBridget · 16/03/2026 21:52

This increasingly feels as if it’s been written by someone who has never been in a school, or a police station.

JaneJeffer · 16/03/2026 21:54

She’s so unprofessional

PrincessScarlett · 16/03/2026 21:55

Ooohhh Paul dropping Alanna in it!

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/03/2026 21:57

Bad Craig

Ha! Love that he knew she was recording him all along 🤣

JaneJeffer · 16/03/2026 21:58

This is getting ridiculous now

SydneyCarton · 16/03/2026 22:00

Well that escalated quickly.

PrincessScarlett · 16/03/2026 22:00

That Craig really is a piece of work. Setting Michael up like that. I have much sympathy for Michael now. I don't think he killed Sarah at all and think he's a broken man because of his failed marriage.

PrincessScarlett · 16/03/2026 22:02

Annie really needs to speak up for Michael. But she won't as she's controlled by Craig in the same way Sedgwick controls his wife. This is all quite depressing. No strong female roles.

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/03/2026 22:03

Wonder if Craig killed sarah or th other missing girl

I wondered that too. There is something deeply unpleasant about Craig.

Agree!

Craig is horrible.

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/03/2026 22:10

Annie deserves better

I almost see her getting together with Michael 💓

Two full episodes to go. Maybe in 5 they work out who killed Sarah and then the old case gets resolved in 6?

JaneJeffer · 16/03/2026 22:13

Wouldn’t surprise me if we find out that the waitress is dead now too

Gingercatlover · 16/03/2026 22:21

I have gone from disliking Michael to feeling sorry for him now. Can’t believe the ex could get away with what he has just done surely?

I think the thing that’s irritating me most is that she’s got it shoved in her pocket recording but when she listens back to it’s as clear as day and not muffled or in distinct.

Police can’t record covertly without authorisation under RIPA 2000 Act. It would be inadmissible and she would be in big trouble. Also if it was held she was questioning him then again it would inadmissible unless he was cautioned first. However potentially she may record something that could be researched and further evidence found to support what he said but she could do that without actually recording him? All seems pretty odd and silly.

moto748e · 16/03/2026 22:35

Craig is awful, but Sedgwick is such a sleazeball too. I don't trust pasty-faced Paul either. Or Alana!
