I've only just tuned in but found Nikita super annoying! I agree with a pp that it's not really a skills test more of a knowledge and speed test. It would be good for them all to make the same core thing that is realistic for the time frame. Eg pancakes, omelette , a bechamel sauce..simple things that they could use their creativity for the flavours or what you put with it. I know it's their job to critique but it literally feels like their putting people up to fail which must be a demoralising start

Polly reminds me a bit of Claire Hutchings, who was a finalist years and years ago when Ash Mair won.

She is very pretty and distinctive looking. A foot taller and she could be a model. And she was a golf pro. And she can cook. And fish.

Late to the thread. Bavette steak is DH's preferred cut which we have about once a fortnight on Friday steak night. I never know whether to carve it across the grain or with the grain, so I usually go halfway and cut it diagonally. Now I know. Cut it across the grain. Incoming this Friday!
