ITV The Lady release date, cast and what to expect from Sarah Ferguson drama

The Lady is a four-part limited series delving into the rise and fall of the former Duchess of York’s royal aide.

On sun and mon for 2weeks at 9pm

Sarah Ferguson (https://www.mirror.co.uk/all-about/sarah-ferguson)’s former dresser Jane Andrews worked for the royal for nine years.

Three years after she was let go, she murdered her boyfriend Thomas Cressman.

At the heart of ITV’s The Lady is Jane Andrews, the working-class woman from Grimsby who got a chance of a lifetime when she was hired to work as Sarah Ferguson’s royal dresser before her life spiralled out of control.

She is brought to life by actress Mia McKenna-Bruce who has starred in How To Have Sex, The Fence, Get Even and Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials on Netflix.

McKenna-Bruce is joined by actor Ed Speleers - famed for his roles as Stephen Bonnet in Outlander, Jimmy Kent in Downton Abbey and Rhys Montrose in You on Netflix - who plays Jane’s boyfriend and victim Thomas Cressman.

What to expect from The Lady on ITV
Described as a “working-class girl from Grimsby”, Jane Andrews’ life changed forever when she answered an advertisement in the magazine The Lady.

However, no one expected that following her time working for the royals that Jane would go on to murder her boyfriend Thomas Cressman, hitting him with a cricket (https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/cricket/) bat before stabbing him in the chest.

I think she'd have ended up killing someone whether it was a posh bloke she met in London or someone on the dole in Grimsby.

If the drama is accurate and witness accounts true she seemed a very unhinged individual.

She’s a narcissist too isn’t she as she thinks she deserves a very high lifestyle so anyone who isn’t on board with that is a threat

I’m not sure if they are both still alive, but if you read the Julie Bindel articles she very much wants to be left alone to be able to work and get on with her life and the tv coverage makes that difficult because she has lost jobs due to relentless doorstepping by tabloid reporters, so I don’t think they would have cooperated.

Of course she wants to be left alone and disappear into obscurity hoping that people's memories wane. But she was found guilty of committing a murder so she lost that right to choose to be anonymous. She took a life. She became famous by association with her job as a dresser to Fergie.

Now she wants to be left alone?! Nope, the publicity is a result of what she has done. Her discomfort is nothing compared to the discomfort of the boyfriend's family and friends because she took his life.

It’s not like the tabloids are doing it for the public interest though, it’s just for sensationalist news stories to sell papers.

Tbh I think it is in the public interest. I'd want to know if she was living near me or involved with anyone I knew and as her face is now high profile again it will give people that knowledge.

She has done her time yes but that doesn't change a personality. She killed someone sleeping, so in cold blood not even in the middle of a heated argument.

Leopards don't change their spots when it comes to batshit behaviour and murder. They may hide it, mask it and learn how to handle their murderous rages but I bet it never goes away.

Yes, that block of knives features quite dominantly in the screen on more than one occasion - I even mentioned it to dd1 whilst we were watching it!

Seems the curly blonde hair one was supportive to her and the long hair straight one aka Laura A not so
