This is a thread for those who have watched the series and are desperate to post and discuss. It seems that the no spoilers free thread is being inundated with those who understably love it. Post away! I love it.

It is a bit Miss Havisham with the room isn’t it.
He can’t move on at all. It is sad really.

There were other rabbits though, in the nursing home there was a rabbit on the nurses desk that MP saw through the glass jar and it reminded him of the little jar people. There was definitely a rabbit theme.

I was surprised they could live outside of the jar and the little creatures were attacking people.

Did Micheal deliberately get the same t.shirt as the teenager?

If Micheal had been living in that house for 7 years assuming he had been paying bills etc would he not have a claim on it.

There was another rabbit cushion or toy in the shed as well.

It was absolutely brilliant and I can’t wait for series 2!

Theres obviously going to be a lottery win but how in earth is Kacey going to get herself in Neighbours?!

Maybe she'll just be in a crowd scene as an extra?

the80sweregreat · 16/02/2026 22:52

Kacey will have to leave her job and go off to Melbourne, although the whole thing has been axed now hasn’t it ? I haven’t watched it since Kylie married Jason ..

placemats · 16/02/2026 23:33

Well given that the series Celebrity Barrel Scraping doesn't exist then Kacey may well make it on to Neighbours (every body needs good neighbours).

I would make it clear to the prophets which lottery numbers you want ! There are a few lotteries around!
She wrote six numbers down, so I hope they were for the jackpot for Euro millions or the Normal lottery.

I rewatched the first two episodes last night.
There are a couple of times when we see hallucinations or the dreamlike imagery that you see on the cusp of waking up. Has anyone heard of or experienced sleep paralysis? I’ve experienced it a few times when I’ve been stressed, overtired or have had a migraine and just laid down as though I have no choice and immediately conked out into a deep sleep which if I get disturbed from has caused sleep paralysis. When it’s happened, the dream appears to be happening in reality, the dream things are there, physically in the room because your eyes are open but you can’t move, your body is still locked. It felt scary for me because I thought I was looking at a fourth dimension! When Michael wakes up at the beginning of the second episode, it’s because a dreamlike gull is battering against the window of his shed where he’d fallen asleep with that book on his lap. As he desperately tries to wake up fully, the image becomes normal. The other time we see a hallucination is the distorted toy rabbit collection box at the nursing home, through the glass jar. That image looks terrifying. It is as though the characters and audience are all witnessing the fourth dimension, the spiritual or dream world. His name is Michael Sleep of course.

On the subject of Elliott, the name referencing the boy in ET might be an Easter egg along with other references to sci fi and fantasy. The tandem bike might reference Hal from 2001 space oddity who sings “Daisy Daisy”.

Really loved this... best thing I've seen in ages and MC can absolutely do no wrong in my book!

I'm wondering if the second season will start with Michael returning from a trip to Canada not having found Clea.

I loved all the small and brilliant observations. My partner and I noticed that Clive next door had an Audi in the drive before it was mentioned.

I read that the homunculi were created with stop/go animation rather than CGI as it gave the feel Crook was looking for. It's just a masterpiece and we need a lot more like this!!

Yes! That type of animation is painfully slow but brilliant. The feel of it is completely right.

placemats · 17/02/2026 09:59

I love stop start animation. The opening of the winter Olympics on the BBC has it.

We didn't hear but I'd assume she specified. She said 'I want some numbers ...' but then it cut away.

I mean “painfully slow” to produce. It’s either 12 or 24 frames a second. The little tails are so slick and fast, so smooth that I don’t know how on earth the animators achieved that! Painstaking work.

HatStickBoots · 17/02/2026 12:03

Interestingly, I only picked this up on the rewatch, Michael’s dad says the poison is for emergencies only. Michael uses the poison to kill them before they get discovered but if they hadn’t been discovered, would he have needed the poison? Perhaps like Ridley Scott’s Alien, these creatures also need a human host in order to thrive after they become sick.

the80sweregreat · 17/02/2026 12:37

I thought that because they attacked them and they were on the verge of being discovered too , that he felt it best to poison them. Only my thoughts though , I need to watch the last episode again really

Ironfloor269 · 17/02/2026 12:46

Absolutely lived the show. Another example of Mackenzie Crook’s brilliant writing.

placemats · 17/02/2026 12:54

Three things from watching again last night. The other homunculi were knight, monk and peasant (given a button). They didn't appear.

The letter to Vancouver that needed a stamp to a friend of Brian (Palin) who was asking about Michael (Quigley). Connection with Canada?

In the final episode both Michael and Kacey (Lauren Patel) were scratched by the escaped King - who had the oldest coin in his jar. Would a scratch have infected them?

OP posts:
MyOtherProfile · 17/02/2026 13:04

Thanks @placemats I wondered if the scratch might have some kind of impact too.

I had missed what the other three homunculi would have been.

CaptainMyCaptain · 17/02/2026 13:08

I think it was Clea writing from Canada.

placemats · 17/02/2026 13:17

I agree 💯

Me too. That's what made me think some kind of witness protection thing.

redpickle · 17/02/2026 13:58

I wonder what the story is with the neighbours, Bev and Clive. Bev mostly seems to be in bed or in PJs, not sure if she’s just chilling or if she might be unwell. MC usually writes nuanced characters and nobody is ever totally unsympathetic so I wonder if there’s more to come on Clive to explain why he’s so over-invested in what his neighbour does. Distraction from something? Maybe I’m overthinking but I love how each and every character is so brilliantly crafted.

the80sweregreat · 17/02/2026 14:12

The neighbours are the odd couple.
Clive had a bird book and I did wonder if it was the one worth mega bucks at one stage.

Supertillypops · 17/02/2026 14:48

Binged the lot. The creatures scared me to death. It was like a horror film.
