I watched the first episode. Thought the leads were very good - well-cast. Had no idea that Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis was a chain-smoker!

I’d recommend Maureen Callaghan’s podcast, The Nerve, for her take on this. She wrote a non fiction book about the Kennedys a few years ago which got good reviews and may be a bit more fact based than some. I think it was called Ask not, which is a take on John Kennedy’s famous speech. She’s not a fan of Love Story.

Yeah, it's really not like her description of the couple in her book.

I’m enjoying it. I think both the leads are great individually but they don’t have great chemistry together

such a sad outcome. I think we need to take a lot of it with a pinch of salt though (see also “The crown”)- I don’t believe she was stuck in the apartment by herself for months as is suggested. Nor that the wedding guests were waiting in that little hut all day!

very sad for Caroline to have lost so much of her family in tragic circumstances

there is a good discussion about the Daryl Hannah situation on the “this is entertainment” podcast. They concluded that she’s probably be in line for a payoff. Weird that the writers didn’t see this coming in a country where everyone is determined to sue each other.

we don’t see it in full in the show but apparently her wedding dress caused quite a stir for being so sleek- very much not the norm at the time

such a beautiful woman.

Her Choice of wedding dress at the time dramatically redefined wedding dresses thereafter along with starting the trend for bias cut dresses, She was hugely influential on the fashion scene - as much as Princess Diana at the time but more accessible.

I think we can mostly agree that Ryan Murphy is good at making good tv and some liberties are definitely taken with what actually happened

QueefofSheena · 24/03/2026 21:32

I wonder what all this renewed interest in the Kennedys, particularly from a younger generation is doing to Jack Schlossberg’s profile and voting chances?

Nofeckingway · 24/03/2026 22:39

Schlossburg has come out against it as it being in poor taste . I don't blame him as his mother doesnt come out looking good. But I think his family are also dealing with the untimely death of his sister , a young woman leaving behind two very young children.

QueefofSheena · 25/03/2026 06:05

I’m not saying he endorsed it, just that it’s raising his profile whether he agrees with the production or not

MissBattleaxe · 25/03/2026 08:57

The series is a brilliant watch with great casting, apart from Naomi Watts. I was shocked at Daryl Hannah's portrayal. Even the Kennedy family made a statement of support in her defence about how great and lovable she was in real life. Seems unfair to portray her as a whiny clingon.

MissBattleaxe · 25/03/2026 08:58

I also remember the ripple of shock her dress caused. I thought it was beautiful.

Supersimkin7 · 25/03/2026 09:10

Daryl Hannah did a piece in the New York Times saying dramatic licence was fine in any portrayal but just so everyone knows, she’s never been a coke head, nuts or had dope orgies.

Everyone was horrified by the hatchet job the script did on her - she and JFK2 were together for years longer than he was with CBK.

JFK2 cheated on her for months while he set up house with CBK.

Watching this now, on episode 3.

Loving it so far, mainly for the 90s New York vibe - oh to have been a young adult in NYC in the 90s 😍

DP and I actually think NYC is going through another golden era right now (we live here) and that the post-Covid 2020s will be looked back on very fondly, but I don’t think anything can top how cool it was in the 90s…

I lived there '94 to '97 (21-23 years old), though as a waitress working illegally so not quite the same circles 😆. But yes, it was indeed very cool. In the opening episode they talk about going to Tunnel/The Tunnel, a very hip nightclub that I went to many times and which is also mentioned in Sex and the City.

Nofeckingway · 25/03/2026 20:02

I used to hang out in Nells , a club they mentioned. The whole theme was recreating a English gentleman 's club . I didn't really go for it but my BF of the time worked there . The Tunnel was great in a real abandoned subway tunnel .

I keep seeing comments on Instragram about no one having cellphones back then. I find it quite surprising as work mobiles weren’t unusual in London. Mercury 1-2-1 appeared in about 1994 making them more accessible. Everyone had a Nokia by the late 90’s. Might have been different in NY

I had DS2 in ‘95 in NYC. I remember the issue of how I would get a hold of DH if I went into labour and he wasn’t home. We rented a pager! How high tech.

Netaporter · 25/03/2026 22:17

I’ve had the same phone number since ‘94 (it’s been my only number) which is why I get very cross with the scammers … “hello Mr Philips” etc 🙄

Amiacoolorwarmcolour · 26/03/2026 07:05

I’m up to date with this and found the last episode boring.
Hopefully it will get back on track again.

She described on the Nerve recently how JFK Jr nearly killed his ex while they were kayaking. Made her go miles in rough sea when she had a broken leg!

I think given how he flew the plane when they died without being qualified to fly at night and on prescription drugs shows he had a death wish. And given he had two people in the plane with him and nearly hit an airliner having turned his transponders off shows he didn't care if he took other people with him.

Nofeckingway · 26/03/2026 09:00

Definitely had a reputation for being a dare devil . Seems to be a family trait of risk taking.

Netaporter · 27/03/2026 10:43

Just watched the finale. Was very good. Overall a great old yarn which provided a little walk down memory lane for me with the fashion and music.

KiIIingMeDeftly · 27/03/2026 11:44

Oh that was so sad. The actress playing Carolyn's mum was excellent, that scene with her and Caroline was so well done.

Gowlett · 27/03/2026 11:50

I just love the way she walks!
Everyone now is a phone zombie…
The JFK actor is very gorgeous!
They had trouble finding that look.

littleburn · 27/03/2026 13:12

I thought it was a great last episode. I liked that half of it was ‘after’ and that Caroline and Ann were prominent. So awful for Ann losing two daughters and Caroline losing her mum and brother in the space of 5 years.

Must admit I was getting very uptight about showing them flying and nervous about how far they’d take that scene. I’d have preferred it if they just took off and that was it.

Randomchat · 27/03/2026 18:05

Poor Ann, getting bulldozed by the Kennedys into funeral plans. I'm glad she stood up to them.

poppybuttons · 27/03/2026 21:09

It was good overall but some of the episodes were so slow. Good casting.

Triskellion75 · 27/03/2026 21:25

Oh, this is so sad.
